Hi !
For anyone who's interested.
A Queen tribute by a finnish vocal group Rajaton with Lahti Symphony orchestra is available through link
A free one week trial registration is available from the site so you can watch the show for free. The show is available until 19. september.
The show was performed on friday 29th of august 2008.
Rajaton is also releasing a Queen tribute cd in october.
Thanks for the info.
I'm not into Queen-tributes, but Rajaton must be good. I had a chance to meet those guys a few years back, they are really nice people and brilliant musicians, certainly among Europe's finest a-cappella groups in their genre.
Yeah, they're not bad. But not that great either. In terms of vocal clarity, they're fine, but I keep cringing a bit at their pronunciation, which is horribly Finnish for the most part.
I went to see that show, which is also available at classiclive.com, but if they're going to perform any more concerts next year, I will have to seriously consider. I also went to see their Queen-tribute last year, which only differed by one song. Last year's performance of the King's Singers' arrangement of "Seaside Rendezvous" was replaced now with Rajaton's own a cappella arrangement of "Don't Stop Me Now", which is also to be released on the album in about a month. Not bad that one, but I was expecting more drastic changes in the setlist. However, it was still hugely more interesting than Q+PR setlists so far. Any symphony orchestra to perform Innuendo, Bohemian Rhapsody, The Show Must Go On, Jealousy and Mustapha is good in my book. =)
