You know I LOVE the collaborations with Paul Rodgers and with him being a lead singer on this project but where are Brian May and Roger Taylor singing on the new studio l.p.? I mean that was the whole point that they were so good that Queen should continue...and then they aren't on this release. I suppose they are on "Say It's Not True" thank god. So there is that much, huh?
Hopefully, Brian has stayed well away from any vocal microphones whilst they have been recording. How he hasn't realised for himself by now that hos voice is thin, weak and uninteresting.
Roger has a different and interesting voice which holds up well through lots of different material.
I think all of the Queen tracks with Brian are AMAZING! Have you not heard his solo studo l.p. entitled "Back To The Light" released in 1993?! It's one of the best l.p.s in the world I think!

Huh? I can think of about 1,587 albums that are better than Back To The Light...
Whitney Houston's debut album is better than Back To The Light
Yes' Union album is better than Back To The Light
Kenny G Duotones album is better than Back To The Light
Men At Work's third album is better than Back To The Light (Yes, they had a third album)
Jermaine Jackson's solo album is better than Back To The Light and I don't even know it's name
Bad Company's Holy Water album is better than Back To The Light and PR isn't even on it!
Conversely,
Back To The Light IS better than:
Wilson Phillips debut album
Hootie & The Blowfish' latest
Cyndi Lauper's She's So Unusual (though Jake might not agree)
Up With People's 2004 Reunion special
Microwave...all of a sudden I am VERY interested in your examples that you gave...not that I agree with all of them...or that my quote was meant to be taken literally...neccesarily BUT I am interested in the choices you just spouted out. Have you heard the latest from Hootie And The Blowfish?

They didn't sing lead on The Works, Hot Space, AKOM, The Miracle, Innuendo....

It is beautiful, but rather painful to listen to for a number of reasons, including his voice.
His second solo album, "Another World", was much better in that regard, but his singing was still too poor for many of the songs.
I very much doubt he could have improved over that.
I love him dearly, but I'd rather NOT listen to him (try to) sing rock, thanks...

Yes, and it blows.... fish.
Not nearly as pleasant on the ears as that nice swirly Fender Rhodes playing the intro to "Saving All My Love For You". Now that's what tremelo is supposed to sound like.

Forget about their latest album, Alex. Have you heard about this? WTF?!

Sounds about as interesting as their latest album. Makes me wish Hootie and his fish died in a horrific plane crash or something. At least we'd have something to look forward to at the end of the interpretive Dance.

Got to disagree slightly - I think Bri's BTTL performance is superior to AW. Although that might just be the material generally.
On acoustic and softer numbers I think he's got a solid, pleasant voice, but you're right - rock songs, particularly the heavier ones lack edge when he sings lead (although resurrection is a good job!).
Either way, Id rather hea Paul take lead on the vast majority of the new material - he's a better, more versatile singer who shouldnt be underused.
One of the things I initially didnt like about C-Lebrity was the fact he only sings the verses, and ends up just fannying about during the chorus....its grown on me now though, lol.
I'm glad Paul is taking over the lead completely. Don't get me wrong, I really love Brian's and Roger's vocals. But I think it would be a more cohesive album if it was sang by one person. And face it, Paul is a much better singer

I agree, and I truly love stuff like "My Boy" and "Dream of Thee".
Unfortunately he often tends to drift towards "plaintive" in places, which I personally don't like much - gets to my nerves, actually :-P
IMVHO, when he writes a song, most times he'll hear the Red Special sing it inside his head; so, when it comes to actually singing it, that's what he will often find himself (inadvertently and unsuccessfully) trying to emulate.
I think he (is probably aware that he) should just stick to singing like Brian May, but that requires a lot more effort and control, and different writing attitude and focus behind the song.
I could be all wrong of course.
They add back ups in classic form. Also I heard Taylor sings lead one song. Say It's Not True also has the trio use like back when Queen did Let Me Live.
I think Brian's voice may still be best for softer songs but then again Rodgers might handle them just fine, unlike Freddie's voice that was almost too powerful to sing softly. The guy just belts by nature.
Personally I would prefer about a 40-30-30 rotation giving Paul just enough to title himself as lead singer. It's nothing against his voice nor is it a judgement call. I simply miss Brian And Roger songs and their singing them communicate that most clearly.
