Wow! Another NASA employee who has to give his opinion on QPR. Guess the band will split now for sure. Let me guess. You will complain about it but still buy the album and go to the concert. To all the people who see QPR as blasphemy...what do you think Freddie would say about it? Perhaps something like "Why don't you guys stop with the ^$#ing tributes?! go out there and do it!!" I can almost hear him saying it and then denying an interview about it. If you don't like it, get out of the way so the rest of us can get better seats.
I saw the first show of Q+PR in 2005 at The Meadowlands in NJ. It was sad. And no, I won't be purchasing THE COSMOS ROCKS, nor will I pick up a ticket when Q+PR tour the USA.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who laments the passing of Freddie Mercury. As prolific a writer, he was a larger-than-life entertainer, with the most amazing voice in rock history.
Just because I know how Robert Mapplethorpe (a deceased photographer, again, from AIDS) took his photographs, and just because his assistant is still around doesn't mean they should be passing off "new work" as the work of their boss.
John Deacon took the high road. It's not Queen without 50% of the group. They'd have done themselves better had they changed the name of the band. Two down from a Queen is a 10, so there's the name. Ten.
Really. Paul Rodgers? Tight shirt, biceps, pecs, and a voice which doesn't do justice to the music of Queen.
Robbie Williams and George Michael would have been brilliant choices. Great voices, and greater personalities, but not as close as Freddie. Entertaining, none the less.
When You ask what,s left to QUEEN, Brian May,Roger Taylor listen Freddie is GONE I miss Him INCREDIBLY but that was Queen then this is Queen now I like the OLD QUEEN but for Roger and Brian Rock on I,m sure Freddie would,nt have it any other way remember THE SHOW MUST GO ON so BRIAN,ROGER Honor FREDDIE,S DIEING WISH TRUE FRIEND,S
Too bad they have to use the name Queen instead of having the balls to stand on their own. Lets get Paul+Ringo to record some new music with 2 other geezers and call it the Beatles
To all the people saying there's only 50% of queen there.
Although he wasn't in the spotlight Spike Edney was a major part of queen especially at live performances, which, is what Q+PR are mainly doing.
so even if you don't count him as a one 5th of queen, its enough to make it at least 51% of queen.
I know queen + Paul Rodgers will never be as queen were with Freddie but for god sake Freddie was there best mate and they obviously feel this is the best way to remember him by, otherwise they wouldn't have done what they were doing.
I will be buying the new album, and on special edition vinyl, I've also got tickets to see them in Manchester and Liverpool but not because I want to hang on the the last 'half' (3 5th's as I see it) of queen, but because there a band, a good band, and a band that I want to show my support for because simply, I enjoy their music.
If you don't like them then stop bloody complaining.
Cheers
Lewis
