The new Metallica song 'The Day That Never Comes' will be premiered worldwide at 7pm (GMT) That's 11am LA time, and 2pm NY time. Here's the link to listen. link and click 'Listen Live' I hope good hopes on this one. I've listened a few tracks from 'Death Magnetic' live, and it sounds like pure 80s and early 90s Metallica. |

From what i've heard of the song it's a step in the right direction for them. It seems like they're going back to basics and returned to their old style of metal that brought them so much success in the first place. It's definitely A LOT better than all of the stuff they have released over the past 10 years. |

That song sounds like a mish mash of their mid/late 80's stuff....I was half expecting to hear "Life it seems to fade away....." as the first line. Far and away better than the last few records of crap they've released. I'm glad that Lars decided to get some decent drum mics this time. |

What a CRAPPY mediocre song with AWEFUL production! |

Very uninspired. Never been much of a fan. Their strike rate used to be for every one good song there were 4-5 mediocre ones. In recent years, it's hard to find even one good song. Never been able to warm to them as individuals either. |

Yep....very Fade to Black ish, but id rather have that than shite like Frantic! I was soooo excited when St Anger was released and felt let down. I saw an interview with Kirk a few months back and he said that there would be plenty of epic 7-8 min long tracks, guitar solos and speed....which is why most fans got into Metallica in the first place. And at least the snare sounds like a snare and Bob Cock isnt involved!! |

And at least the snare sounds like a snare and Bob Cock isnt involved!!I don't think the failure of St. Anger was based so much on Bob Rock as a producer. As much as hardcore early Metallica fans like to say that 'The Black Album' sucked, it was one hell of a great album, and that was produced by Bob Rock. Music is like sports, so in a sense bands are like the players on the field, and producers are like coaches. If the album does good, the band gets the praise. If the album does bad, the producer gets the blame. IMO St. Anger failed because there was a climate of hostility while recording it. James was dealing with alcoholism and anger issues, and his visits to counseling and rehab were delaying the release of the album considerably. As a consequence of this Jason left and the band fell apart. If 'Death Magnetic' is as good as what we've heard so much from it, some will give Rick Rubin the credit for putting Metallica on the right track. However, I was listening on the radio that Rick Rubin is hardly ever at the studio while recording takes place. He drops by for a while, and gives good advice, but he doesn't put as much input into an album as people say. |

It's not Metallica. Glen is dead. Jason got sacked. |

Now early on, and the WWRY thingy... ok I'll give you that. But Rick has gotten much better with the people he's worked with. |
