Was wondering if the newcastle arena is in the city centre? Was there in 2005 but cant remember as I just drive down and straight back up to Scotland after. This time I was thinking of staying the night and getting a few beers inbefore and after the show. Plus I'm bringing a friend of mine whos never been to a proper concert in his life, well unless ah ha count!!
1-ah ha dont count lol
2-im a geordie and i will try explain it for you
Driving
if you come off the A1 into newcastle, you will drive across the redheugh bridge, if you look right as you drive across you will see the King Edward Bride (railway), The metro bridge (metro railway),Swing bridge, High Level Bridge, Tyne Bridge and Millenium Bridge,
if you look left you will see the arena, as you come off at the end of the bridge the road swings round left (or straight on into the city) but you want that left turn, it takes you to a roundabout with the college on your right, take a left turn and follow it round, the arena will be on your right.
from the city center i.e. St James Park (newcastle united)
walk down towards the redheugh bridge, and turn righ just before the bridge and follow the last part of the above instructions.
Thanks for that. Just got booked into a hotel on new bridge street west. Looks qquite close to arena. Is there much in that area in the way of pubs etc? Or does one need to head to another part of the "Toon"?
the whole toon is a pub mate lol, however, unless you bend that way, stay away from the pink triangle, i will do you a map with some labels, give me 30ish mins!
heres a map, labeled areas of toon i.e. landmarks, pink triangle, the bridges, and new bridge street.
in red i marked the route, if it doesnt look too clear, go to google and search newcastle in the maps, i also suggest because the road system can be confusing for tourists, is on the night you get there, use some time to find the route.
a pub i recomend just cos im a geordie is Shearers Bar at St James Park. you cant not go to newcastle and not go to st james park!
Thank again for all your help. I don't see any link to a map mind you. I'm not so sure I'd be welcome in Shearers bar being a lifelong Manchester United supporter myself!! Good game on Sunday, you guys did well hopefully you've not cost us the title already!!!
i dont know why it didnt upload, i used the upload file thing under the message bar, erm...give me your email and i will email it to you!
and dont worry about shearers, all geordies welcome away fans, we love them all...unless they are mackems!
but you will find geordies are the friendliest fans around, they love the banter from other fans!
and yeh for us it was a great result considering you can put any team out and beat them 99% of the time!
