First of all I wanna say how excited I am about The Cosmos Rocks (although somewhat puzzled with the title.....awful). What does everybody think about Take Love not being on the new album? I've personally really been looking forward to a studio version of it. Think it'll be released as a B-side? Seems a shame that it's not on. In my opinion it's much stronger that Say It's Not True which is frankly drivel!! Which brings me to my next point....we've got two tracks on it which we've all heard, SINT....in several different formats.....you can't polish a turd guys....and Warboys from PR Live In Glasgow. Granted, the PR live version was a work in progress and a showcase for the young guitarist but frankly that was a pretty poor tune also. Which amazes me as to why Take Love isn't on the record. It's probably the best new tune so far from Q+PR that we've heard. I suppose I want to pick up the new album in a record shop and read the track listing and everything be new rather than thinking, 'oh, I've heard that' like I did when MIH came out in '95. Finally, all I can say is that I'm so glad that they didn't release Runaway!!! We're they winding us up with that or what??? So, don't mean to sound negative, I can't wait for the album, I'm just interested in other opinions. Over to you guys...... |

I can only assume that Take Love wasnt put on because they thought it got a lukewarm response. If you look at the video's uploaded here, the crowd reaction isnt exactly overwhelming imo. As for Runaway, it will be released in some format. |

Granted, Take Love is a good tune. But, as stated before, the band probably made the assumption most fans wouldn't want it on the album. As for me, I'm quite glad they didn't include it on the album, because I already heard it. It leaves more room for *new* tracks. The same goes for The Call. On the contrary, I am pleased with the inclusion of C-lebrity and especially Say It's Not True. Because at least Say It's Not True has been reconstructed. |
kirkpatrickuk 12.08.2008 10:11 |
I'm not sure I understand you really Steven. We've only ever heard Take Love on Youtube (unless you were lucky enough to be there) whereas we've had to endure SINT on and off for years so really TL (studio) would be considered a 'newer' and more original product. |
Vali 12.08.2008 10:13 |
If I remeber well, they only played Take Love in the U.S. ... and for the videos I've seen, the crowd response there was the same with Take Love, with Dragon attack, AOBTD, Radio Ga Ga, etc ... If they decided not to include Take Love in the album for the crowd response they obtained, I wish they had better checked these forums in order to get a precise opinion of what the fans think about this song. |
steven 35638 12.08.2008 10:14 |
Yes, but the die-hard fans aren't the only ones buying the album. |

For anyone *but* the die-hard fans, it doesn't matter one bit which tracks they'd include, so long as there were a couple of singles amongst them. So why not include Take Love? |

The way I interpret this is that when we heard Say It's Not True for the first time we heard a simple yet meaningful piece of music. Later the song evolved into this powerful epic that absolutely thrilled me. Now, the reason as to why I wouldn't find Take Love *new*, is because the performances already sounded polished. I always thought that if they were to make a studio recording of the song it wouldn't sound all that much different, where as Say It's Not True evolved into a completely new beast. This is just my opinion. And believe me, I can understand why many of you want it to be on the album. But I just "couldn't care less." I find the other songs (SINT & C-lebrity) much more powerful and exciting. It's all just an opinion. |

Note that the digital release of "The Cosmos Rocks" is slated to feature "bonus tracks". It's entirely possible that tracks such as "Runaway" and "Take Love" will be there. |
AlexRocks 12.08.2008 17:10 |
"Take Love" studio verion and live version should be added as a bonus track to a re-release of "Return Of The Champions"...on Blu-Ray. |

Careful - theres people here who will castrate you for that! |

On top of that, I never disliked the cover -- in fact, I like the fact they feature fans on the cover. It wouldn't be such a bad idea to upgrade it to Blu-Ray. Actually, I bet they'll eventually re-release all their DVDs. Because not too long from now DVDs will become the equivalent to VHS.AlexRocks wrote: "Take Love" studio verion and live version should be added as a bonus track to a re-release of "Return Of The Champions"...on Blu-Ray.You mean you're actually asking them to give us another rerelease with only vaguely interesting and rather thin extras!?!? By that I mean it starts off with the traditional "quietish" first verse, then comes the "cliffhanger" chord before the chorus. The rest of the song is pretty much the same. From the boots that I have seen and heard, Brian's solo doesnt seem to have that hummability factor that you get with his solo's from Bo Rhap, TYMD, etc. Maybe all that would change if I heard a studio version of the song, with all the proper backing, this "ok" song will become a great song. |

"Which brings me to my next point....we've got two tracks on it which we've all heard, SINT....in several different formats" So you were also complaining when you bought The Works backin '84 that there Breakfree, Hammer to Fall, Radio Ga Ga and IT's a Hard Life on there? Because you already heard them on single? That's the problem with singles, you hear them before the rest of the album. |

Steven wrote: Yes, but the die-hard fans aren't the only ones buying the album.Excuse me? So the kids are going to be debating purchasing Little Wayne or the new Queen album, huh? How exactly have Queen or Paul Rodgers been able to stay in touch with the fans? Granted Rodgers may bring more album sales, for he has never stopped touring and isn't opposed to doing a small venue. And if you're still trying to cling on to former fame, the only way to do that is to reach out to the fans and bring the music to them. Queen haven't exactly done that since 1986. |

Am I missing something here? Warboys a remake of a previous version? Details please! Thanks, |

It's originally a Paul Rodgers song and can be found on his last years Live in Glasgow cd/dvd. |

I was at the album playback last week and the question why Take Love was not on the album was asked. The answer from Justin Shirley-Smith was that they did work on the track in the studio, several times, but the band were never completely happy with the results. They like it as a live track but could not come up with a studio version they felt worked. So in terms of a studio version it is a work in progress, but they had no idea if it will ever get completed given that the tour etc starts very soon. Album running time was also cited as another reason by Kris. ie. Not enough room for everything and as the band were not entirely happy with it, that was the track that got dropped. And to answer the other question in the original post, the Runaway question was also raised. The response, Runaway has been recorded and is currently planned to be released as an itunes exclusive track with the album. |
