I have a feeling (based on Mandela's 90th) they will begin with 'One Vision'. And i also think that they will end the show with something different (maybe 'All Right Now' then 'God save the Queen'), I'm sure they will Play 'Rock You' and 'Champions', but maybe not right at the end, after all this is'nt strictly Queen, so some traditions are gonna be lost! It would also be nice if they played Innuendo, Paul Rodgers mentioned in a magazine article I read that he would love to play that song live, but i'm not sure, it maybe too complex! I also heard that Paul is playing piano on the tour, so does this mean Paul will sing 'Bo Rhap', I hope not because having Freddie on the big screen on the last tour was a nice touch! And 'Hammer to Fall' (orginal version) rather than the slow version would be more favourable!? And finally how many songs from the new album do you think will be included in the setlist, i Reckon 5?! |

well, if you look at Brian's and Roger's last solo tours (in 1998/1999), usually 50% of the songs of the new albums (Another world and Electric fire) were performed in each tour. So I guess (this is just guessing, of course) that at least 5 or 6 new songs will make it into the setlist. Then, continuing with this guessing game, as a 2 hours show can include more or less 25 songs, considering 6 new songs + 3 or 4 Free/Bad company tracks, and the songs that are a "must" (We will rock you, We are the champions, Bohemian Rhapsody, Love of my life, Show must go on, Tie your mother down, Radio gaga, the guitar solo) and those that might be palyed (One vision, and, as Brian mentioned it on his blog, 39), there is still some room for surprises. Maybe also a medley? Who knows.. we'll find out in a month or so, as the tour begins |

paul should defo sing boh rhap, i would love him to, i think it would spoil the whole freedie thing from the last tour if they were to do anything like that again. |

Tragically, you could probably replace 3 or so songs off the last tour - and there you have it. It would be great if they pushed the envelope a bit more. And mixed it up. Don't they get bored playing the same songs over and over again? |
Josh Henson 03.08.2008 20:58 |
I hear what you're saying Richard, but there are some Queen songs that cannot be left out of the set - TYMD, FBG, WWRY, WATCH, BoRhap, GaGa, Love of My Life, AOBTD, Under Pressure, CLTCL, Show Must Go On and one could argue the same goes for '39, I Want It All and I Want To Break Free. I saw them in Jacksonville, FL on the 2nd date of the American tour and was appalled that they didn't play I Want It All, Under Pressure and I Want To Break Free which are recognizable songs here in the USA. But who knows. I never understood why they didn't play Now I'm Here and why they dropped '39 from the set list. Strange. I was thinking about a new set list and I'm posting that next. Good topic going here... |

Ok, ok, my new 'dream' set list after thinking about it some more: *One Vision OR We Will Rock You (fast) Tie Your Mother Down Fat Bottomed Girls *C-Lebrity Medley: *Keep Yourself Alive; *Stone Cold Crazy; *NEW SONG; I'm In Love With My Car *I Want To Break Free *Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy OR another Free/B.C. song *'39 Love Of My Life Take Love *Say It's Not True Crazy Little Thing Called Love Under Pressure *Now I'm Here Guitar Solo *Now I'm Here (reprise) Bad Company Dragon Attack Another One Bites The Dust Feel Like Makin' Love *I Want It All OR Princes of The Universe Bohemian Rhapsody - No Paul Rodgers Radio Ga Ga *NEW SONG The Show Must Go On All Right Now We Will Rock You We Are The Champions God Save The Queen Songs w/ an * are either new to American sets or weren't played much, like '39 and I Want It All. Now there are some songs that are big here in the USA that many fans and casual listeners now know: I Want It All, Princes Of The Universe, Under Pressure, I Want To Break Free, that can't be ignored and should be included. I never understood why Now I'm Here and Keep Yourself Alive didn't feature in the set lists. I honestly don't think Paul would have a hard time singing these songs. I also DO NOT agree with putting All Right Now in between Rock You and Champions, OR after the 2. That should never happen. Of course there are the huge Queen favorites like Innuendo, March of The Black Queen, etc that will never feature because they just can't be sung by him, or are too 'Freddie' for anyone else to sing them. But that is my opinion. And you know what they say...opinions are like ass holes, everyone has one..... |

I changed it around to this: *One Vision OR We Will Rock You (fast) Tie Your Mother Down Fat Bottomed Girls *C-Lebrity Medley: *Keep Yourself Alive; *Stone Cold Crazy; *NEW SONG; I'm In Love With My Car *I Want To Break Free *Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy OR another Free/B.C. song *'39 Love Of My Life Take Love *Say It's Not True Crazy Little Thing Called Love Under Pressure *Now I'm Here Guitar Solo *Now I'm Here (reprise) Bad Company Dragon Attack Another One Bites The Dust Feel Like Makin' Love *I Want It All OR Princes of The Universe Bohemian Rhapsody - No Paul Rodgers Radio Ga Ga *NEW SONG The Show Must Go On All Right Now We Will Rock You We Are The Champions God Save The Queen They could probably leave off Break Free and CLTCL the more I think about it. It would be neat for them to throw in Sheer Heart Attack right before All Right Now. Roger can sing it. |

do we have to have a freddie moment? if there will be one it will be in love of my life, that is the right place, no fuss, no gimmic. i think its right. i think its time to fully hand the vocals dutys over to paul. i.e if gaga is to be played on this tour, which i think it will be, paul hould sing more if not all, nothing against bri or rogs singing! pauls an awsome vocalist, lets make the most of him. severn seas of rhye btw, has anyone else thought paul would nail that song? there are so many ino, but it would be nice to hear an old one! id also like them to drop stuff like break free, under presure, and do sumfin different, ogre batle, keep yourself alive, now im here? any thoughts anyone? |

It was dropped from the US tour precisely because it's just not a well known or popular song here. Casual listeners wouldn't know it either. and why not have "All Right Now" end the show? It worked just fine at the Mandela birthday concert. your setlist is just too predictable, safe and boring and that's probably what they'll do, lol. Some fans just want the same old shit again and again. |

I know of a lot of friends who don't listen to Queen, but know I Want To Break Free because of the Coke C2 commercial. And the song wasn't even played during the first few shows if my memory serves me. It definitely wasn't played during the 2nd date of the tour - I know, I was there. The setlist that I would like to see is speculative of course, but includes hits that all Queen fans want to see and some oldies that haven't been played in a while - Keep Yourself Alive, Now I'm Here, Stone Cold Crazy. Where is your setlist? Don't give me shit, until you post one, guy. Thanks. |
Bromo 09.08.2008 23:27 |
I won't attempt to put them in any kind of order but I'd guess the set would be something along the lines of: 5 or 6 tracks from the new album(basically C-lebrity and SINT plus a few more new ones) 5 or 6 Paul Rodgers tracks(All Right Now, Feel Like Making Love, Can't Get Enough and Bad. Co most likely. Hopefully one or two Paul Rodgers suprises like Radioactive, Silver Blue and Gold and/or Good Lovin Gone Bad) 10-15 Queen songs(depending on how the above is distributed) I think the safe bet would be on WWRY/WATC, Radio GaGa, TSMGO, LOML, AKOM, BoRhap(do it as the Freddie Tribute or don't do it all. I'm fine either way and understand it is a very tight rope they have to walk with this one). The somewhat probables: Love With My Car, Under Pressure, Days of Our Lives, I Want It All, One Vision Dare I say one or two suprises from these: It's Late(this band would tear that one up I believe), Save Me, Somebody To Love or Now I'm Here. I have a feeling that we'll see more of Paul at the piano on this tour so maybe Somebody 2 Love would be an ovious addition(though I'd love for It's Late and Save Me to be played as those are two of my all time favorites). Then maybe some alternation between 39/Long Away snippets in the acoustic section. Probably looking at a 23-25 song setlist. Maybe if they did a sort of "Evening With QPR..." type show, play for an hour/hour and a half take a break then play for another hour or so then you may squeeze another couple of songs in there. Just with the addition of songs from the new album the set will be radically different from the last tour. However once the setlist is settled on I think it is safe to say that it will be pretty much set in stone for the whole of the tour. Maybe with an alternating 39/Long Away or Teo and Born To Love You if the tour makes it to Japan. When the tour reaches the States(I'm thinking postively here lol) they'd probably drop AKOM and IWIA for AOBTD and CLTCL(which is a shame because I thought IWIA went over really well in NJ in 05). Those would be the only changes during the tour that I realistically see happening. And that is my short thoughts on the upcoming tour setlist 8-) Thomas |
Bromo 09.08.2008 23:32 |
Oh I forgot to add Tie Your Mother Down as a most likely song in the set. I could take or leave this one actually. It really does get the crowd going but I wouldn't lament it's loss if it meant getting a new rocker into the set(One Vision most likely). Did I mention that I really want It's Late into the set?!??!! 8-) Thomas |
Pim Derks 10.08.2008 04:36 |
I think we'll get the same setlist like 2005/2006 - with a new opening, plus 4 or 5 new songs in place of stuff like Last Horizon, IILWMC, TATDOOL and HTF. I hope Paul gets to be a real frontman this time around, instead of being on stage 60% of the time and 40% waiting for Roger and Brian to sing. Don't get me wrong - I love it when Brian or Roger sing a song themselves - but if they wanted to do that they should've gone out as QUEEN, not as QUEEN + PAUL RODGERS. |
