What do you think? link |
Tero 02.08.2008 05:43 |
Is this a joke? that's what I think. :P If it isn't, I'm glad they've given another job for that 11 year old girl who did the tour posters, but this really isn't something a professional band would put out... |
Jer 02.08.2008 05:49 |
The idea's not bad but let down (again) by the exectution - no subtlety or much skill in the Photoshopping and typography. It looks like a first draft that's been OK'd as final artwork. Oh, and where's Paul's mikestand......? |
new one 02.08.2008 05:53 |
C'mon guys its not that bad, I actually quite like it. Plus it will probably look much better once you actually have it in your hand. Whats more important is what on the CD. Please don't let it be crap, I've been looking forward to it for too long. C-lebrity sounds pretty good from the 45 sec. clip but hopefully theres some real good rockers on there. |
Raf 02.08.2008 07:08 |
No, it will NOT look good once we have the CD, because it'll be smaller than what we see on the computer screen, and the band will be pretty much invisible for us. We'll be able to tell there are three tiny guys on the corner, but we won't really see Brian's, Roger's and Paul's face cleary. And let's face it... Thousands of people who have a little bit of experience with Photoshop could've done this very cover look much better if they had access to the original pic of the band. |
pittrek 02.08.2008 07:20 |
It's REALLY bad. REALLY REALLY BAD. MUCH worse then I expected. The first "nebula" they used looks like a master piece compared to this |

The cover of C-lebrity looks quite good, not to impressed with the album cover though |
fly 02.08.2008 08:24 |
It's like little sperms traveling to their final destination. Font could be much nicer with some other colors. Just some foto of 3 of them could be much better, or just somo logo. Can't belive this is queen. They should hire Alex Solan to create the artwork. I'm still in doubts to buy Montreal 1981 because of the cover. Been allways fascinated with visual side of the queen, especially from the 1970s queen, their costumes, album covers, and all that. Can't belive this the artwork for the studio queen album. |
dbruce 02.08.2008 08:25 |
I actually quite like it. Yes, very basic looking, but I can't help but like it. Perhaps with the nebula background sitting behind the black it would add a little more to it. Haven't seen the C-Leb cover yet as my Album Club access isn't working just yet and I'm assuming their tech support don't work weekends! |

Wow! Queen on some new planet taking the samples for Brian's new research, or somewhere in the desert hopeing to meet Jim Morrison. Sorry for been sarcastic but I wrilly don't like this new covers. |
djcamper 02.08.2008 08:59 |
They should make somthing like this link |
Hitman 02.08.2008 09:32 |
bah i really don't like this album cover with the slimey bugs crawling. is it so difficult to put a pic of the milky way (just a better idea) in the background? come on... |

fly wrote: Can't belive this is queen. The Works, the Miracle, A kind of magic, the Game... Queen have hardly been the best album cover band until now have they.. Like I wrote somewhere else this looks modern and forwardlooking. Think its nice that they just dont settle for retro. |

don't get me wrong, I'm really happy about the new single/album/tour, but, about artworks, from 2005 we didn't get great stuff (tour programme cover, ROTC sleeve, the new phoenix logo, etc.). I know that it's what's inside that counts, but you know... Funny, I remember when the "A kind of magic" album was released, I hated the cover and waited for one month before buying it :-) But, except that one, I've always found Queen's sleeves very good and original |

Hell, I'd like to see it released on 3" cd-single if the artwork is this bad. |
fly 02.08.2008 11:43 |
The wiseman or someone else ones said "don't judge a book by a cover", but after watching this covers a few times, it wrilly hurts my eyes. Since pretty much everything on it is influenced by Brian May and he is astrophysicist: the title, sand, 3 of the on some planet saveing the human race and trying to discover the meaning of live and all that. I just wonder what the cover would look like if the Roger Taylor would be the most influental in the band and he is the dentis! Would we see his secret dental office with his favourite tooth paste and tooth brush in the background. And probably on the back cover would be a long description how properly to wash your tooth. Don't know what's Paul Rodgers occupation, so that we can have a third version of a cover!? |
mooghead 02.08.2008 12:49 |
The 'stars' look like sperms (and I'm not talking about three blokes) |
Fenderek 02.08.2008 12:52 |
This is a joke. And a terrible one. Cannot believe anyone would pay for such thing... And we were complaining about ROTC or Montreal... This is crap. Crap- literally... |
Queenman!! 02.08.2008 13:05 |
We sure miss the old days and artistic input from Freddie. Boring cover, just like the Montreal DVD. Who makes this crap? |
john bodega 02.08.2008 13:36 |
I don't know what popular opinion of the Queen Rocks cover was, so maybe I'm committing a faux-pax by saying I liked that one a lot more than I like this weird thing. The jittery starfield on long exposure (if that's the look they're going for) should really have only been a part of the cover, and not the whole damn thing. And they've done a terrible job of putting themselves in the corner. Why could they not have been bigger? Or slightly transparent? OR BOTH?? Bizarre cover. |
Bono Mercury 02.08.2008 13:36 |

PieterMC 02.08.2008 14:13 |
Personally I don't think it's that bad. |
john bodega 02.08.2008 14:53 |
I don't exactly find fault with it as a 'concept', but I mean... Is there anyone on the cover of this album who isn't a millionaire and who couldn't get something done for the 'execution' part of it? |
Queenman!! 02.08.2008 15:44 |
I not a master with photoshop. Perhaps can someone make a good cover and post it here |
Dagmara 02.08.2008 15:55 |

Brian just looks miffed that he was beaten to the idea of having a spaceship made of amplifiers. You know, looking at the three of them there, I do get a sense of that 'new band' Brian was talking about. Maybe I am imagining things. Sort of feels empty, though. I keep thinking John should be there, and I'm generally of the opinion that he earned his retirement 25 years ago and should stay retired for his own good! Ah well, bless them.... dodgy cover but album covers aren't a hobby of mine. I want to open the damn thing up. |
Mercury 90 02.08.2008 16:58 |
I Love the Album cover, and I think the way they did it, it looks like the idea was to let it look a bit home-made but I personaly love it! I would even say that I think it's one of their best covers, because of the very cool front which is some kind of retro.... I Love IT!!!! |
fairydandy 02.08.2008 17:27 |

The cover looks rotten, and I thought the only rotten cover we were gonna get was "Runaway". You can see why the four members of Quenn used to fight over every little production detail if this was the sort of shit Brian and Roger were coming up with. All those negative comments aside I am looking forward to the tour and CD content |

Is it confirmed??? Seriously??? Oh no... I mean even the font makes it look shoddy. Oh well, won't stop me from buying it. |
Charlie Brown 02.08.2008 22:59 |
I think the guys should be larger on the cover and that pale green Queen is printed in would be better in the blue they used for the + Paul Rodgers type. Otherwise it is a pretty good cover. It has sort of a spartan modernist quality to it. |
Knute 03.08.2008 02:01 |
Actually, I went back after eight hours and read that photographer's description of it again and I understood more of what he is trying to convey with the cover. As a result I like more than I did earlier. In fact the more I look at it the more I like it. It does play tricks with your perception. It's actually quite a striking image and will surely catch people's eye in the record shops. Even if it's just so they can stare at it with contempt, it will still catch their eye. And did anyone else notice the spiffy pair of silver shoes Rog is wearing? |
kingogre 03.08.2008 03:01 |
I really like the cover. Looks modern. Brian was right, very surprising. Think that this will be a very surprising album and tour. After all Queen was always a forward-looking band. |
Martyn 90 03.08.2008 03:04 |
At first I hated it, but its a grower, the worst thing about it is the white bit they are standing on it doesnt look right to my eyes. And i really wish they would make a better job of the Queen name, so it doesnt look like something created on WordArt. But other than that i think the stary effect is nice and the fact that the band are positioned in the corner drawns attentioned to the Queen name at the top! It will be interesting to see what the artwork inside the CD booklet will look like?! |
QueenSite 03.08.2008 04:00 |
at least, the single cover is ideal to be signed :) |
Pim Derks 03.08.2008 05:11 |

Tranchera 03.08.2008 05:12 |
I smeared my balls on my keyboard with Adobe Photoshop open, and I actually think I came out with a better cover for the new Queen album than this. If Brian May thinks Queen can come back like The Who did, he is sorely mistaken. |

Damn...I was kind of expecting better from them. Maybe this is a iffy version? Maybe they'll be bigger on the actual thing? >_> I can hope...but the music is the most important thing, I usually just put my cd cases away somewhere and keep cd's in a big holder with all my other ones regardless of the cover art. |
Adam Baboolal 03.08.2008 12:49 |
Mixed feelings really. On an LP cover, yeah, it'd be ok. But not really on a cd booklet. Hmm... I didn't have much to say about recent previous efforts, but this one? Well, I have to admit that I was hoping for more. There's plenty of space to fill. Adam. |
nuncjusz 03.08.2008 16:34 |
Horrible! It actually looks as some custom-made wallpaper, not a serious rock band album cover. The original artwork, altough not perfect, was 100 times better than this crap. |
