Interesting to note that Brian says on his soapbox that the album cover is not like anything that anybody will be expecting. Good to hear that it's not going to just be that space pic :-) |

They have it revealed in the Album Club (under Images), and if you haven't seen it yet, it IS very different from most other Queen album covers. And to me, from what I've been hearing from certain people involved in the Queen circle, it is already sounding very different from their old, classic works. So this is to me a good representational idea of how different it will be :-) And I certainly don't mean it in a crappy way either. This will be their first album since Miracle to have all the (current) band members on the front cover (or Works if you don't want to count them being meshed together by CG for Miracle). But I think some nitpicks will be bashing the cover for 'poor design' etc etc. cos of their first impressions, just a heads up. Also, this is their first album in a very long time, I think, that had a cover NOT designed by Richard Gray, though I could be wrong (I'm going by the impression I get from the Sleeve Notes comments from the album's photographer) However I think in some ways it's brilliant, it's very different and I certainly can't wait for it. |

PS. The cover artwork for 'C-lebrity' is also available in the Album Club images |

The cover looks depressing. |
Vali 02.08.2008 04:45 |
Hummmm .. just checked it in the album club. Don't know if I like it yet. Want to hold it in my hands and watch closely ... And it seems, if you go to the credits section in the album club, that Richard Gray was not involved in this new artwork .. wich, at least to me, it is good news |
QueenSite 02.08.2008 05:01 |
the picture is nice, but terrible backgrounds...as "Return of the champions", this cover doesn't look very professional |

I like it ! It got a clean look.. The font is simple & clean too. Nice Job ! Now bring us the track list =) |

I quite like it, nice basic cover Nice to see the ban on the cover again unlike the Innuendo singles etc with all thatweird arty stuff(for good reason obvously). It was always going to be somehow "space " related I thought given Brians recently improved "C-lebrity" status in the world of astonomy. Very exciting that we'll finally have some new material in just over a month. Please guys, don't let it be shit I've been waiting on this too long for that. |

I'm sick of people on this site always saying bad things about this band. "The album cover is too basic"...... what do you want... a fuckin 3d album cover were every band member pops out of the cover and thanks you for buying the album! |

I like this simple style, a sign of something fresh and new. Apparently a photographer called Edgar Martins is behind it. The single cover is more appealing to me than the album art though. It is quite similar but it has a little bit more of that Less Is More design. |
YourValentine 02.08.2008 06:55 |
What is "fresh" about a black sky, desert-like sand and 3 elderly guys dressed in black? It's dark and gloomy - the cosmos seems to be rocking somewhere else :-) |
Jjeroen 02.08.2008 08:02 |
If someone provided this artwork for free with an audience recording bootleg, I would not even use it! The only way to make this look good, is to get it on vinyl signed in silver marker! |

link Look at the second picture or google for Edgar Martins: Topologies |
PieterMC 02.08.2008 10:12 |
Well, I can't say I love it or hate it. It's certainly different. I must admit that it does look better than several recent album covers (Rocks, Montreal). |
kingogre 02.08.2008 11:11 |
Love it, looks simple and modern. The Works, thats an ugly album cover.. Well done is all I can say! |
Fenderek 02.08.2008 12:55 |
After seeing it- i wish it was the cosmos picture... This is utter crap- I can remember from top of my head maybe 5 worse covers... Even ROTC was a bit better... Cannot believe this company (QP) is willing to pay for such crap... |

In ROTC's case, it's better to have it on cd though... The smaller that artwork gets printed the better. :-) |

i quite like them both, i think it will luk better when you have hold of it. i prefair the single cover. any ideas whent hat will be relased, the SINT sinlge cover was more stylish, but its whats inside it that i care about |

masterstroke_84 02.08.2008 21:11 |
remember... I used windows PAINT... and I was joking. Now, gimme some good photoshop and I bet you I can beat the shit outta that crap cover in a few hours. |
kingogre 03.08.2008 02:47 |
Seriously, how many album covers are not a cut and paste job? There are tons of classic album covers that could easily have been made by anyone in a few minutes. Whats the point? |
tomnever2 04.08.2008 05:30 |
With ROTC and the current tour artwork I was awaiting a creative disaster... (the worst for me EVER being Brian's Live At Brixton Academy album...) But this is surprizing ! I think it's really fresh I-Pod era cover. Clear, sober, modern and with a bit of ironic posture of the 3 guys. Tongue in cheek. So pretty cool work even if the album title is still so bad... |
Martyn 90 04.08.2008 14:21 |
The C-lebrity cover is just the album cover close up, without the stars. So they could have had the band in a different position for the celeb front cover. |
Libor2 06.08.2008 09:00 |
Hmm, I must say, I kinda like this cover. Definitely not so bad as I read in all the comments. If I want to name some not so good Queen's album covers, I'd name The Works or The Game. These two are really boring covers without any idea. Well, the sans-serif font. Queen used sans-serif font here and there before, so it's nothing surprising, but I can understand people point here. They could use better font (this looks very "Arialish" except of Q and its typography isn't very good). Maybe they should hire a better DTP man for this :-) |

Some alternate photos were posted on the QOL album club. I just added the stars + the title. |
