for those who are part of the album club the studio version of it is up i like it |
brians wig 01.08.2008 19:57 |
Thanks for the info, but how come it says "full track" but only plays 45 seconds worth? Am I doing something wrong? |
steven 35638 01.08.2008 21:33 |
Nope, you're doing nothing wrong. It's another one of those typical mistakes. In my opinion, the studio version, from what can be heard, is OK. But then again, it's not the entire song. |
inu-liger 02.08.2008 03:21 |
It sounds really good so far. I like the guitar effects during the chorus :-) |
QueenSite 02.08.2008 05:08 |
sounds good, look forward to the full version |
Fenderek 02.08.2008 12:57 |
Judging those 45 seconds... I like it less than the live take... Too slow. The bass does nothing for me. And I'm worried about the production of vocals on the entire album... but we shall see... |

Call me a hypocrite if you will, but I have changed my mind about the studio version of this song. I put my Bose headphones on instead of just listening through my laptop speakers and the difference was remarkable to say the least. The sound is down right thick and powerful, and the depth and purity is wonderful. You can really hear the humor in Paul Rodger's voice. For example, I love it when he sings "They may say I'm dumb, but uhhhh." It actually put a smile on my face to know that the band is pissing all over the so-called celebrities of our time. I mean, kids like Hannah Montana shouldn't have so much fame and fortune -- it rottens their innocence and youth. God knows how she'll turn out to be. She gives the wrong impression to little girls. Young celebrities like her give them the impression that they have to look and act a certain way to be beautiful - which is complete and utter trash that should be taken to the dump immediately. I am really looking forward to the album now -- I'll just disregard the cover until I look at it through a microscopic lens. Maybe then I will find it's inner beauty or whatever. Hell, I might even see the band!!! |

Think it sounds very funky and the guitar and vocals are genius as expected. The song judging from the clip is not sensational but it has a very nice feel to it. |
Daveboy35 04.08.2008 09:52 |
Listen to it and your earphones and i can guarantee it will have you rocking wow man these guys are masters of work. excellent... |

I'm surprised and impressed. Great production, great drums, great vocals, great guitar. I already forgot that the riff is stolen. I still don't think the chorus is as good as the rest of the song, but it's catchy anyway. I'm curious if it's gonna chart. Even makes me a little bit excited about the album, which I couldn't have cared less for until now. |

I like it very much. I still prefer the live version, as this one seems to be overproduced in some points. The last part of the live version had a strong feel to it, and the last bits were perfect. That was sort of lost in the new version, either by all those sounds crowded together, or by the new ending itself. Overall, I quite like this version as well, don't get me wrong. It's just that the older one had a more real feel to it, as this one is a nice studio production, perhaps with some excesses. I would like the album version to be a more spaced one, with less crowded sound effects. Maybe the "Chinese Torture" guitar sounds in the end should have their own session of the song for us to profit better from it, for example. Well, I must say that I am as happy as a young boy with a new toy. I have waited for this album for so long and it seems to be coming in a rockier way than I could have ever imagined. Long live Queen, long live "Queen+"! Cheers, Ogre- |

One word: FUCKING AWESOME!!! ....oh wait, that's two. But that's alright ;-) |
gnomo 05.08.2008 05:55 |
IMVHO it's very good, although a tiny little bit faster might have been better. Paul's voice is excellent and Roger's drumming still surprising in places. The guitars don't do much for me because that "heavy" side is not my thing, but I appreciate the thick layered sound. 7/10 :-) WHO played bass guitar? |
Brian_Mays_Wig 05.08.2008 06:00 |
Im pretty sure Brian took on the bass. |
steven 35638 05.08.2008 09:27 |
I wouldn't be surprised if Roger played bass actually. |
gnomo 05.08.2008 11:26 |
Dr. May just said it was his doing... |

Oh, that's cool. |

Since first hearing the radio rip Monday afternoon, with each new day this song seems to get better. I'm loving Paul's vocals, very powerful, very crisp, sounds good within the song too. I'm feeling the harmonies too, good to know the boys can still do it. I don't really subscribe to this stollen-riff lark... yeh it's sound like three seconds of The Metal by Tenacious D, but its just a simple riff encompassing a couple of notes that have probably been used on a fair few other songs in the history of time in different tempos etc. The little pull-off on the third fret of the e-string after a couple bars of the riff is also featured in Ball & Biscuit by The White Stripes if people want to get picky, but I digress... Every now and then I notice a new little something by Brian in the background, top stuff. Makes me itch for the album even more. And as for Rog's drums - this guy is at his best. The guy was awesome in the 70s, didnt like the 80s stuff when he let synth-pad into his life, and his mid-90s stuff was better, but on this track he just sounds class. Maybe it's better production than he's had for a while, but everything about him sounds powerful. It's not classic Queen, but it's new, and I'm loving it. Happy days! |

I agree Roger's drums sound nice and heavy....very impressed with his work lately - he sounded phenomenal on the studio version of The Call..and now great on this.....looking forward to 13 tracks of brilliant stuff.....Paul and Brian make this rock too obviously....track is very catchy as I find my self playing it 10+ times a day and humming it the rest of the time.... |
Arnaldo "Ogre-" Silveira 06.08.2008 08:28 |
Is it getting any airplay in the UK? Cheers, Ogre- |
The Fairy King 06.08.2008 08:36 |
Sorry, but i just don't like the chorus. |
john bodega 06.08.2008 10:35 |
The harmonies tend to make me subconsciously think that they're going to launch into "And Your Bird Can Sing" or something Beatles-y. I like the Beatles, so make of that what you will. |
Sunshine__123456 06.08.2008 11:45 |
Honestly I think it is very dissapointing, one dimensional macho rock without any debth.. Sorry, can't like it... |
eggy 06.08.2008 16:24 |
C-Lebrity is absolutely everything I feared it would be - awful. Say It's Not True is good though so it's 50/50 so far for the new album. |
pittrek 07.08.2008 06:18 |
Well when I've heard it on the Al Murray show, my thoughts were "well, at least it's heavy". Personally I really prefer the studio version. I really love the song, the only problem is the main chorus. It feels slightly "copy & paste" from a completely different song, you know what I mean ? It feels like we're listening to a NWOBHM song, which suddenly turns into a 60's lollypop chorus with annoying melody played in the background. But still the result is a song which definitely stays in your mind wheter you like it or not, and with the correct promotion it has a chance to be the opening track of Greatest Hits vol. 4 |
Joeker 07.08.2008 23:55 |
I'm not a huge fan of it right now, but i don't hate or dislike it either. I think it may grow on me. But I'll bet this song could be the opener for the new tour, its got that feel to it. |
mikevirgil 08.08.2008 03:00 |
link (lightly) improved version (to my opinion)... What do you think of it? |
