I went to my very first concert on this date way back it 1982. The band was of course Queen. Live at the Philadelphia Spectrum. I was 3 weeks shy of my 14th birthday. My seats were eye level with the band just about 25 feet away form John's side of the stage. It was an amazing night! I remember being a little surprised to hear Freddie drop an F-Bomb during his greeting. Also, when he sat at the foot of the stage & hung his legs over the edge as he sang the opening lines to Save Me, it was like I could reach out and shake his hand. A great night in my young concert going life. Anyone else here at that show? I'd love to hear from you. Who would have thought then it was the last time Freddie & Co. would ever tour the states & come to Philly? I stil have my concert shirt tucked away in a box somewhere. I was lucky to be there.
Yes, they are going to level the Spectrum. It's a shame they're doing that. I may actually be one of those sentimental saps who go down there for that implosion. Assuming thats what they do. It was great to have them come back in 2006 & play there again. I had pratically the same seats on Brian's side that time.
I'm hoping they do a summer tour & make it an ampitheater venue tour. They could play the Susquahana (sp) Bank Center, formally the Tweeter Center, or the Mann Music Center. The former can hold around 25,000 including the lawn seats. The Mann holds about 15,000 w/ the lawn. The Merriweather Pavilion in Columbus or Columbia, MD is simmilar to the Mann only better ambiance. In NY theres Jones Beach. I'm sure every major city has ampitheaters like that. The Hollywood Bowl comes to mind as well.
This was at the Spectrum, right? Man, that was the one Queen concert I could have gone to. I was 13, and my mom wouldn't let me and no one would go with me. Did you see Billy Squier open and everything?

Hi Daniel,
Yes this was in the Spectrum. Billy Squier was the opening act. Who would have thought that up untl 2005 I would have seen Squier 3 different times over the years and only saw Queen that one time. Speaking of Squier, did anyone see the Ringo Starr All Star Band tour in either 2007 or 08? I was watching a little on youtube & I have to say, he was outstanding. His voice hasn't lost anything & his guitar palying was top notch. His performance during Edger WInter's song "Frankenstein" was spot on. I'm sorry to have missed it. I hope this lights a fire in Billy to go out & tour on his own.

His playing was pretty good, but I thought a bit overshadowed by Colin Hay's guitarwork. A bit odd for Ringo to have two guitarists this go 'round... but definitely a great show.
