I know its a long long while before these things get released, but what would form would you like to see them? I would really like to see seperate anthology sets for each album they've made. where you could have the studio album on one disc and then intrumentals, acapella versions and outtakes and rarities on other discs. Also band interviews in the time period for each album would be a nice touch too. I know it means buying the albums again, but this would be the definitive version, which they wouldnt have to release again. I would very much like for others to share their imput, as its a subject i have been interested in for a long time |

What's so exciting about an a-capella |
steven 35638 24.07.2008 13:57 |
^Yeah, really. |
sithmaster34 24.07.2008 16:55 |
I think acapella versions are interesting as you can hear freddie, brian and Roger doing harmony vocals together. Their vocal harmonies were one of the strongpoints of the band wouldnt you say? |
TerrorOfKnowing 24.07.2008 17:39 |
Rather than acappella versions of the entire album, I would prefer basic multitracks for at least selected tracks. |

Beatles fucking Anthology. There is your template, QP. GET TO FUCKING WORK. Freddie's been dead for 17 years, there really is no excuse anymore. I can almost hear Greg Brooks right now... "it's a monumental task, you can't imagine how much work goes into this...." BLAH BLAH BLAH. Get someone else to do it, then. Honestly, what reasons can they possibly offer up for not doing something by now? 'Not comercially viable'? Bullshit. People bought Greatest Hits 3 didn't they? Chop chop, QP. |
Daveboy35 25.07.2008 04:18 |
Yeah beatles anthology is by far the best boxset i have seen and a definite template to work from and one which has brought them to the public in a commercial way. I would like to ask greg has any work started on the anthology at all i really hope so because if not we could be waiting a very very long time and i mean years and years. |

The problem with Queen is, that that crazy control freak Dr May wants to do everything himself. I wouldn't be shocked if it turns out that the artwork of the new album is made by Brian, instead of some specially selected artist who did a study for it |
Pim Derks 25.07.2008 04:53 |
I bet the new album will have wonderful dropshadows, bevels and a 'funny' font used for tracklisting/titles. It's the same thing with that Stereo Photo site he's involved with (link. "Design by: Phil Murray, Brian May & Elena Vidal" it says at the bottom. Three people to draw a grey/yellow rectangle, add some brushes and that's it?? He just wants to be credited for even the smallest input. Why do you think the credits for IWIA, Scandal & TSMGO have been changed to "May" instead of "Queen" in some recent releases... |

Maybe because he wrote the songs... ;) Not trying to get into an argument here, just my opinions. :) |

But you're pretty much right about him wanting to be in on every bit of the process. Wouldn't be surprised if the typeface of choice for the new album is Comic Sans. |

If Brooks doesn't want to/can't be arsed doing it then get someone efficient who cares about the music to do it. sithmaster34, I like your thinking regarding The Miracle, it would be rather incredible to see even one album given that kind of treatment. However, I must inject further cynicism into this discussion and express my doubt that this will ever happen, and certainly not in the foreseeable future. Unless, as Zebonka points out, Greg Brooks gets to work or is replaced with a more competent archivist. |
FriedChicken 25.07.2008 11:51 |
Why does everyone think Greg is someone who decides what gets released and what not. I'm sure Greg does his job, but if Queen Productions decides not to release anything we won't get boxsets. It's not fair to attack Greg every time when it's about the boxsets being discarded. |
Micrówave 25.07.2008 13:15 |
Hey, I like The Miracle too, but THAT is just insane. I could do without instrumentals and a capellas. I'm not much into Karoake. |
sithmaster34 26.07.2008 05:18 |
I know there was a box set released by the Beach Boys called 'Pet Sound Sessions' that featured the original album, plus backing tracks, acapella, out-takes etc. I thought it would be really cool for Queen to do the same. I think 'A Night At The Opera' and all the other studio albums like this would be really cool, what you think? |
FriedChicken 26.07.2008 05:37 |
I think another important reason that we don't have ANY release with unfinished stuff or alternate takes is that Queen are such perfectionist and wouldn't like a release that captures not so perfect moments. Such as songs and takes that weren't good enough for the album |

I hope all the unreleased songs on the boxset are top quality. I hope the fucking box set is released before I die as well. I smoke so much I'll probably end up dying in a couple years, if that. Now hand David Brendam one of those mint chips, aiight? |

The only Queen related release I look forward to is this stupid boxset, but I'll probably be dead, or to old to care. |

Yes, together with Freddie and Douglas Puddifoot (their photographer in those days). Which means Brian had to compete with two very visual persons, so his input probably was minimal. |
