I know there aren't a lot of gamers around here...but for those who are gamers, share the references to Queen you've found in your gaming experiences. Also share references in cartoons/anime. From games: 1. In Halo 1, sometimes the grunts sing "We are the champions!" twice after killing you. I always found that irritating. 2. In Final Fantasy Tactics(one of my favourite games of all time), the fourth and final chapter is called "Somebody To Love". 3. In Resident Evil 1, Chris has an alternate costume with a "Made in Heaven" logo. I also remember something similar from Resident Evil 2 and 0. Here's a pic from RE2: link I know it's about Queen because one of the characters in RE0 has a tattoo that says "Mother Love"...duh. 4. The entire "Ogre Battle" series of Strategy-RPGs. There's even a mass of water called the "Rhyan Sea" in the first game. XD 5. Guilty Gear's main character, Sol Badguy. Mmm. The manual explicitly states that his favourite band is Queen. 6. The Japanese version of Final Fantasy 12 features an Earth elemental summon called "Rock You"...;) 7. There's this game I played long ago...Vagrant Story. I could've sworn the main character had a starting weapon named Fandango. I don't own the game anymore so I can't check. It's a Queen reference because the game's director is a Queen fan... From cartoons/anime: 1. Session #14 of Cowboy Bebop is called Bohemian Rhapsody. On an unrelated note, the series creator is a big Queen fan...uhh yeah :D 2. There's this anime channel in India called Animax and there was some anime about bread...uh damn I forgot the name but there was an episode where an old guy was imitating Radio Ga Ga and then dressed up as Freddie. That was really funny. 3. Ofcourse, the Simpsons...too many references to count...duh...no...I mean...D'Oh! ;) 4. Family Guy...duh. That's about all I can remember. |

Anime references/tributes to Queen: -Cromartie High School has a silent character who is hugely based off Freddie link -Ranma 1/2's Opening Theme (OP) for the last seaon, "Love Seeker (Can't Stop It)" by Vision, has a lot of Queen elements link (OP - TV Size edit) link (AMV - Full Size version) Can you spot all the Queen references? :) -Big O's OP has more than a passing resemblance to "Flash's Theme" link (OP - TV Size edit) Can't seem to find a full size version on YouTube...will upload an MP3 later on |

How could I forget the Big O one! That one's toooooo obvious. XD Animax India started showing Ranma 1/2 with the original Japanese opening and ending themes very recently so my exposure is limited to the "Love Seeker" song but I didn't notice anything Queen about it. I'll check out your YouTube links. One more: A dude called Eagle from the Capcom vs. SNK games looks a lot like Freddie in his moustache days and one of his quotes is "The Show Must Go On"...and yeah, he says it EXACTLY like that(with the caps in each word). Never saw Cromartie High, what's it about? I read in a Final Fantasy forum a long time ago, before the release of FFXII that the Beta version of FF8 was originally slated to include a part of "The Millionaire Waltz" during the dance scene at the beginning of the game but it was canceled. |

Any other info on them would be much appreciated.link One of these days, I'm going to seek out that CD-Single on Yahoo! Japan auctions... It's a comedy type show, I guess one of those that are really off-beat, off the wall, not sure. I believe the DVD's and manga are both available from ADV Films in the US & Canada. Not sure about R2 European releases... |

Love Seeker (Can't Stop It) definitely sounds like Queen. The singer himself sounds kind of like a Japanese Freddie Mercury. One more thing I just remembered. This is true for atleast the Animax English dub for Ranma 1/2. In one episode, Akane's dad sings "Scaramouche, Scaramouche, will you do the fandango" while he was in a bathtub. That was soooooooooooo funny. I don't know if it's the same in the Japanese and North American version. I don't remember the name of the episode because the bathroom singing was the only notable thing about it. |

I'd so love to see that dub clip now... |

BTW, I think the Animax dub of Ranma 1/2 is fairly recent since I remember there was some dumb reference to iPods in an episode, where Nabiki asks for an iPod. |

We don't get that here. Yeah, regarding same voice actors, I've heard a few complaints about that with some US distributors of anime on the fansite message boards. Another memorable Ranma 1/2 moment is when when Ukyo and Ranma are practising poker and Ranma says "You have a nice pair, let me show you mine" and Akane thinks they're having lesbian sex in a locked room. To further her suspicion, Ranma keeps yelling "Harder, harder!" when he means "Try harder"...lmao that episode was awesome. |

link Here's the Radio GaGa pic I was talking about. There's one more I found today, albeit very dumb. In an episode of "American Dad" the dad breaks into some gay bar think it's a commie hide-out and sneaks Queen references into every sentence thinking it'll help him befriend gay people. It was hilarious though at one point when he got slapped for telling a guy "I Was Born To Love You"...lawl... |

Ahh, "Yakitate!! Japan" I've never seen that series before. I watched the first episode on YouTube. It is funny :D But 69 episodes! It'll take me quite a while to find the one with the Radio Ga Ga parody. The first episode has a piece of background music in the final scene that is a bit reminiscent of We Will Rock You. Seems the staff on that show really like Queen... |

The first episode music you're talking about is an obscure reference to "Kuja's Theme" or something like that Final Fantasy IX, not a Queen reference... |

There was a show on Animax about some monster kid whose parents are monsters too and they fight the forces of evil. In one episode the villain was an evil guitar. The English Animax dub has NO Queen reference but the re-run which is shown in Japanese had a part where a guitarist is playing some song and the singer starts singing "teo torr...." and then the guitarist snaps back "Kuinu kyohi suru" which is like "Queen - DENIED!". I found that funny as it is a double reference to Queen and Wayne's World. What I do remember is that the show had "Humanoid" somewhere in the name. Even if I somehow remembered the name, I wouldn't be able to name the episode number since it was an otherwise craptastic show. |
