hi guys, do you think that one vision should be played on the new tour as the opening song?? i peronslay think that it shoudnt, as amazin as it was at 46664, they should do sumfin new, shok us all! any thoughts? |
Tero 08.07.2008 03:28 |
There are two reasons why they shouldn't do it: 1) They really don't need yet another reminder of the 1986 tour, and 2) They REALLY don't need yet another taped reminder of their previous singer to jerk out an emotional response from the audience. For gawd's sakes, they're supposed to be a new band! :P |

I personally don't think they would add OV to the Cosmos tour. It was just something to try out with Paul and the lyrics fitted really well to the occasion. Besides I think Brian lost his speed and timing a bit to his licks and there are a lot in OV. |
drwinston 08.07.2008 11:08 |
"sumfin"? You're either stupid or lazy. Either way, your parents must be proud! |
kingogre 08.07.2008 13:58 |
Think it will be the opener, followed by TYMD. They need something instantly recognisable to start with. Theyre not gonna begin with TYMD again, perfect opener as it is. WWRY fast is really not that famous and a lesser song than OV. That pretty much leaves One Vision of the classics. Theyre probably gonna do TYMD as second song since its such a killer riff and a great way to get the crowd going. Brian obviously thinks highly of it as well. The third song will probably be something with a singalong chorus to really get the crowd into it. Just my guess though:) I guess well soon see what happens |
Lester Burnham 08.07.2008 14:15 |
I think it'd be neat if they tried something new as an opener, instead of the usual WWRY / TYMD / One Vision. Why not go with Innuendo? Or Breakthru? Or Hammer To Fall? Or even a new number? There must be a new, quick rock song that would serve as an appropriate opener. I just think they shouldn't play it safe with One Vision, because as Tero says, the comparisons to 1986 would be inevitable, and 1986 will win every time, unfortunately. Hopefully, they'll keep One Vision as a one-off, much like TMLWKY was performed at the 46664 concert in 2005, and then never again. |

I was playing about with a "dream setlist" for the new tour, obviously not including new songs we've yet to hear, and thought that it would be great for them to 'break the mould' and do something unexpected. Namely, not to finish with the old WWRY/WATC combo. Instead I had the slow WWRY as opener with taped stomp/clap and then only Paul singing (verse 1), then Bri in for the solo. Then a la the 2003 versions (eg John Farnham) have the band come in and turn into a heavier version (verse 2/3). I then had TYMD as second track - it just seems its natural place. Although I'm sure there are many other good suggestions. While OV wasn't on my setlist (It was between that and Headlong as a replacement for Hammer to Fall, and it lost out), I'm sure it could work as a middle-of-the-set rocker, if we get rid of the intro and start with the guitar riff. |
kingogre 08.07.2008 14:59 |
wwry slow as an opener is not a bad idea at all. a new song would be great, presumed theyve got one that could work. it must be really great to compete with what theyve got in their backcatalogue though. they seem to be more like a real group now than a collaboration and i think it will show in the setlists. ive got a feeling though theyve got some surprises to pull out. |

Great opener. "New" song in the Q+PR set. Would be great if you ask me. |
QueenNewcastle 08.07.2008 16:25 |
what they could do is mash up all the opener's they have used on previous tour's..... and i know they're meant to be a new band... but it was only a freakin idea!!!!! |
PieterMC 08.07.2008 16:29 |
I think they will open with a new song, followed by Tie Your Mother Down. |
joe6464 08.07.2008 16:48 |
I think they should play it at the new tour, its a good powerful song and Paul Rodgers sang it well |
xxxpwxxx 08.07.2008 19:32 |
yeah i think One Vision sounded great!!....it just needs a little work, that's all... |
Togg 09.07.2008 04:19 |
I have always loved the song so would like to see it live again, however I suspect the reason it was in the Mandela concert was due to the songs content, and relating to his drive and courage. My money will be on something else openning the new shows |
Hankster 09.07.2008 11:43 |
One Vision into Tear It Up into C-lebrity, or maybe just One Vision going into C-lebrity would work very well, imo. I'm pretty sure that OV will be the start of the concert. Besides the lyrics mistakes, Paul's voice suited the song perfectly anyway. |
Going Back 10.07.2008 05:51 |
definitely to the list, it sounded really great ! |

i think some one mentiond that they would like to hear paul sing it, id love to here him have a crak at it. but agreed, new band, new area. |

Queen, as a band, have tended to open with a new song, then go to an old standby for the second number to fire the crowd up. Case in point: Now I'm Here, Ogre Battle (SHA) Bohemian Rhapsody, Ogre Battle (ANATO, summer '76) TYMD, Ogre Battle (ADATR) WWRY, Brighton Rock (NOTW) Tear It Up, TYMD (Works) One Vision, TYMD (Magic) Reaching Out, TYMD (ROTC) You could even make that argument for "The Hero" during the Hot Space tour to an extent, and maybe even for the WWRY/LMEY opening pair for about a year after they rolled it out (but certainly not by the end of the Game tour). I strongly suspect the guys will follow with tradition, and the opening of the concert will look like this: New song, TYMD Groundbreaking, I know, and I'd love to hear a different rocker plugged into the second slot (the full Rock It, please!), but the guys all seem fond of TYMD, and I suspect they'll want a rocker off of their new album to open with. |
BradJarre 14.07.2008 07:10 |
I think that they should play one vision. Yeah offcourse its another reminder from freddie AND the magic tour........But look at this... One vision>Tie your mother down>C-lebrity. that would be a great show opener. And remember guys. This was there first time that they played one vision so you cant realy blame them for making mistakes and all. and i think that when the time they are in arnhem or in wembley or wherever they will play it will sound beter then ever. i hope that they will change the arrangements a bit to suite pauls voice but we will fing out if the new tour starts. |
hillerqueen 22.07.2008 08:07 |
No,I agree, they should try and move the entire show away from Magic Tour's likeness. Brian has said that its sometimes disappointing when one of your own songs doesn't get picked to be a single as it doesn't get the airing or life that it might otherwise deserve or achieve. They have a fantastic back catalog of album tracks to choose from, that's where I would like to see them go with this tour.....some new, some hits and some album tracks. I suggest they open with Kashoggi's Ship and follow with Headlong or Draggon Attack, I don't know anything but a watered down 1986 tour again. |

Nice looking setlist. Would be great to see some of those played - Ogre Battle and Innuendo would be great to hear! |
Raf 25.07.2008 13:05 |
One Vision sounded REALLY GOOD, but as other people have already pointed out, we don't need to see them copying themselves, do we? Going a bit off topic, since 2005 I've been wondering why the heck they haven't played Headlong yet. Paul's voice has worked with all of Brian's hard rock they've played so far, and I'm sure this one wouldn't be an exception. Besides, it'd be the first time we'd hear Queen doing it live. We've only got Brian solo versions so far. |
thunderbolt 31742 27.07.2008 19:40 |
I want to hear Paul try "Liar" and "Ogre Battle". I suspect he'd do both quite well. |
new one 28.07.2008 08:06 |
Yea it would be great to hear some of the "newer" stuff like innuendo, which I reckon Paul could pull off and headlong. Plus some of the older ones like Its Late, I'm convinced Paul would do a good job on that one and even spread your wings. But I reckon too that the setlist won't be too far off what we got in 2005. A lot of the audiences will be fairly casual fans who want to hear the greatest hits and I'm sure the band will give them what they want, plus its a fairly safe option for them considering they will also be playing 3 or 4 new songs that few people will know at all. |
Raf 28.07.2008 08:27 |
I don't get why so many people insist on Innuendo - I doubt Paul could actually do it well. Robert Plant's voice sounds more suitable for this song, and... Hmm... You know the story. ;) |
new one 28.07.2008 09:10 |
I think people want to hear innuendo becase we've never heard it on tour before and well its a great tune. |
-adventure seeker- 29.07.2008 17:55 |
plus personaly, i think paul rodgers could sing the socks off robert plant haha, and they would ony do it, if it was strong enough to be included in the set. i almost wonder if it should be used as part of a medeley, maybe with one of pauls songs, any sugestions? |
QueenSite 01.08.2008 16:55 |
I'd love to have One vision as an opener, the full version could work very well |
