After a while here is another part of this popular series :)
We start with a special gift for all our french members, especially Ginger01 and ruth.olivier, I hope you like it friends :)
It's "the first concert in France after 6 years".
Venue: Pavillon De Paris, Paris, France Date: 24.April 1978 Lineage: AUD > ??? > CDR > wav > ClickRepair (removing clicks and pops) > wav > flac > wav > Cool Edit Pro (speed correction) > TLH (flac level 8) Taken from the readme file City : Paris, France Venue : Pavillon de Paris Date : 23/4/1978 Lineage : AUD > ??? > CDR > wav > ClickRepair (removing clicks and pops) > wav > flac > wav > Cool Edit Pro (speed correction) > TLH (flac level 8) Time : 122:04 Quality : very good + /excellent Setlist: CD 1: 01 - We Will Rock You 02 - Brighton Rock 03 - Somebody To Love 04 - Death On Two Legs 05 - Killer Queen 06 - Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy 07 - I'm In Love With My Car 08 - Get Down, Make Love 09 - The Millionaire Waltz 10 - You're My Best Friend 11 - Spread Your Wings 12 - It's Late 13 - Now I'm Here 14 - Love Of My Life 15 - ' 39 CD 2: 01 - My Melancholy Blues 02 - White Man 03 - Vocal Improvisation 04 - Guitar Solo 05 - The Prophet's Song (reprise) 06 - Stone Cold Crazy 07 - Bohemian Rhapsody 08 - Keep Yourself Alive 09 - Tie Your Mother Down 10 - We Will Rock You 11 - We Are The Champions 12 - Sheer Heart Attack 13 - Jailhouse Rock 14 - God Save The Queen Original comments: I'm sharing this one as many people seem to be searching for a clean copy of this recording. I downloaded it a long time ago from the hub but it came with a lot of annoying clicks and pops. I removed them with ClickRepair and I'm happy with the result. This is the first ever concert of Queen in France. They seem really happy to get over this country that have ignored them during such a long time. There is no much to say as in my mind, this is perhaps the best tour Queen have ever made. Just listen and enjoy this great show... ;) I rated the recording as vg+. It is very clear but there is some tape hiss which is a little bit annoying during the quiet moments or if you listen to it with headphones. It is still one of the best recordings of this tour so everyone should enjoy it. The recording is complete. I've remarked some minor sound problems during Keep Yourself Alive. If you find other problems on this recording, just tell me... By the way, there is still no recording of the second night so if you have it, attended it or know someone who might have recorded it, please tell... My comments : I have downloaded this version some time ago and I was bothered by the fact that in runs too fast. Since I couldn't find a better copy I decided to do it by myself, so I have decoded the flac files to wav, corrected the speed in Cool Edit Pro and encoded them back to FLAC with Trader's Little Helper with removing all the nasty SBEs.Download links link link link link link link link link link The second concert from this year is another well known concert recording - Montreal. Thank you for your Great Work Pittrek!!! Montreal'78 -YES!!!! |
pittrek 16.06.2008 05:37 |
The only remaining cuts are during Somebody To Love, Spread Your Wings, and Keep Yourself Alive (to a lesser extent). It seems the person recording the show used 90 minute tapes, which explains the cuts during SYW and KYA, but the STL cut is there perhaps because a security guard had come close by. You can hear the tape wheel turning in the left channel for the few minutes surrounding the first tape flip. I have also removed all of the little clicks from the recording. Thanks to Ginger for sending me a clean version of '39, as mine had those brutal digi-clicks! Lineage of better version: AUD > Master > 1st Gen Cassette > WAV > CDR (x) > WAV > FLAC Frontend level 8 > WAV (GoldWave pitch correction) > FLAC level 8 Lineage of inferior version: AUD > ? > Cassette > WAV > CDR (x) > FLAC Frontend level 8 > WAV (GoldWave pitch correction) > FLAC level 8 This is a fantastic show, with the band in a very relaxed mood, as they were a couple days before in Montreal. Freddie is in a bit better voice, too. After a subtle applause following Let Me Entertain You, Freddie says, "You should've seen the audience in Montreal. They'll teach you a thing or two." Boos ensue! He continues, "Forget the security. This is your night!". Freddie delivers a great (and gutsy in places!) version of Dreamers Ball. The boys have a fantastic jam during Brighton Rock. Brian is horribly out of tune during his WWRY solo! Overall, it's an excellent show, and just as essential as the other great-sounding shows from the tour. Disc 1: 1. Intro 2. We Will Rock You (fast) 3. Let Me Entertain You 4. Somebody To Love (cut) 5. If You Can't Beat Them 6. Death On Two Legs 7. Killer Queen 8. Bicycle Race 9. I'm In Love With My Car 10. Get Down, Make Love 11. You're My Best Friend 12. Now I'm Here 13. Spread Your Wings (cut) 14. Dreamers Ball 15. Love Of My Life 16. '39 Disc 2: 1. It's Late 2. Brighton Rock 3. Fat Bottomed Girls 4. Keep Yourself Alive (cut) 5. Bohemian Rhapsody 6. Tie Your Mother Down 7. Sheer Heart Attack 8. We Will Rock You 9. We Are The Champions 10. God Save The Queen Distribute these files only if they are left completely unaltered, (Well I have renamed them and tagged them, I hope it's not considered as an "alteration" :-) ) and always include the lineage information. As always with my shares (and preferably everybody else's!), be sure that this recording is not made available at Queenzone or elsewhere in mp3 or any other lossy format. Keep lossless files lossless, unless it's for your own use. :) Enjoy! Thank you very much Pittrek. Paris is a very good idea, and Montreal will be without any doubts an upgrade. I already have the Toronto gig so I can confirm it's worth listening! Thanks again Pittrek |

Bloody hell... 5 shows for 1978 !! The end of the seventies were quite a good period for Queen isn't it ?? Thanks a lot for the Paris show. It will be good to hear that at a normal pace. Thanks as well for the other shows. I'll definitely download as soon as possible ! Vote Pittrek for president ! Regards, Olivier, France. |

Thank you Pittrek, awesome share! Have you done any improvements to the Vancouver gig? Or did you simply split the tracks correctly? |

Hahaha. Man, it'd be good, I tell you, but he's kind and so I'd never wish him such a thing. Ah, yes, I forgot, there are mediafire links for the Chicago gig, though some threads ago. When I get back from class I try posting them here, if Pittrek thinks it's a good idea. Good monday everybody! |

I'll try to give Pittrek a little help and attend, whenever possible, user's request to upload the files to mediafire. It's all part of Pittrek's series. The files were either provided by him (Paris, 78) or by SirGH (in this case, Chicago78). I took the info given by Pittrek. So, ALL - and I mean ALL - the thanks goes to Pittrek's magnificent project and SirGH's relentless dedication to the band. I just uploaded them to mediafire. From Pittrek's best of the best series: Venue: Pavillon De Paris, Paris, France Date: 24.April 1978 Lineage: AUD > ??? > CDR > wav > ClickRepair (removing clicks and pops) > wav > flac > wav > Cool Edit Pro (speed correction) > TLH (flac level 8) Part1: link Part2: link Part3: link Part4: link Part5: link Part6: link Part7: link Part8: link Part9: link And then, just to keep the material "neat", I'll post the links for the Chicago gig, same source: Orginally shared by SirGH. Band: Queen Venue: Stadium, Chicago Date: December 7th, 1978 Lineage: Master (Technics RS-646DS) > WAV > CDR (2) > WAV > GoldWave (edits smoothed out) > FLAC frontend level 8 Part1: link Part1b: link Part2: link Part3: link Part4: link Part5: link Part6: link Part7: link Part8: link |

Thank you very much, Pittrek!!! Great wonderful stuff as usual. Although a little pity that only one show from NOTW part was included. I've heard that Vienna 02.05.1978 from 2nd generation tape is really exellent and definitely one of the best show from this year. Hope that this gig will be uploaded whenever. Thanks a million, Pittrek, for your job! |

Here are the mediafire links for the Montreal 78 gig as shared here in this thread by Pittrek. It does sound a lot better and the speed is finally corrected! Thanks for the wonderful job, Pittrek, as always, it's really nice to listen to the concert in such a good sound! His words: "This recording I am bringing to you is the best version of this concert I could find. I have received it in a trade with a respected trader, labelled as "unconfirmed master copy". It finally runs at the correct speed. I don't know how other recordings sound but sound of this one is much better then anything I have hears until now from this great concert." part1: link part2: link part3: link part4: link part5: link part6: link part7: link part8: link All credits to Pittrek. I just upoloaded it to mediafire. The venue: Montreal Forum, Montreal, Canada, December 1th, 1978. |

Sorry, Yara, but some of the mediafire files seem to be corrupt or missing, at least some of the Paris 78 files. Does anybody else have the same problem? ------- EDIT ------- All my own fault, it works perfect now. Thanks, Yara! |

Thank You Pittrek !!!! Your project is a big success for this community And again You are “The Best of The Best” I also want to thank Princess Yara for your invaluable support, grace and charm And all involved For the next year would be great to have some of this Newcastle 12-4-79 Frankfurt 2-2-79 Osaka 4-20-79 Rotterdam 1-30-79 Paris 3-1-79 Cheers! |
pittrek 19.06.2008 02:44 |
Rotterdam & Paris are great concerts, but the sound is far from excellent. Maybe I could upload them not as the part of the series but separately ? |
Nummer2 19.06.2008 03:33 |
After listening to the Montreal show, some remarks: At first, I was surprised about the excellent sound. I haven't compared it to my "old" recording of this show, but this appears to be an upgrade. The only annoying thing is the taper himself, when clapping against his recording equipment (he must have been extremely embarrased when listening to his recording for the first time!). It's obvious that the whole band is in perfect shape. Freddie concentrates on every detail, his piano intros and vocal ornaments sound very elaborate. A pity, that his voice cracks a few times. Brians voice is rather loud in the mix, and in my opinion the vocal harmonies profit from that. They sound very balanced and they are done very well throughout the concert. What struck me, is that BoRap sounds very similar to the Live Killers version, esp. Freddie's vocals. Brian seems to be in a special mood that evening, he talks very much (in French, too). Conclusion: Fantastic show and an adequate recording. One of the top ten Queen performances on my list without a doubt. |
