Several years ago, a kind fellow on another message board sent me a copy of a short story that someone had written based on the song '39. I believe it was called "The Traveler." Does anyone know where I can find this short story again? Several years and many hard drives later, the story appears to have gone missing and I would love to share it with my daughter.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Not sure if this is what your looking for:
Brian May described the song as follows:
It's a science fiction story. It's the story about someone who goes away and leaves his family and... because of the time dilation effect, when you go away, the people on Earth have aged a lot more than he has when he comes home. He's aged a year and they've aged 100 years. So, instead of coming back to his wife, he comes back to his daughter and he can see his wife in his daughter... a strange story. I think, also, I had in mind a story of Herman Hesse, which I think is called "The River". A man leaves his hometown and has lots of travels and then comes back and observes his hometown from the other side of the river. He sees it in a different light, having been away and experienced all those different things. He sees it in a very illuminating way, 'cause I felt a little bit like that about my home at the time as well, having been away and seen this vastly different world of rock music... totally different from the way I was brought up, and I had those feelings about home.
Thanks for that, but that is not what I am looking for. I used to have the actual story. It is one of a space traveler who leaves a dying earth, but when he comes back (because of the time differences in traveling at the speed of light) all the people he knew are dead, and he is now looking at his daughter's daughter (?) who is old enough to be his wife.
I don't know the answer to your question.
But I did some Googling, and I found this page - although it says that Brian based the song on this short story, so that's the other way around than what you've asked. Still...could this be it? link
ETA: Oh, good grief! Now that I try to find this short story, I don't see it listed. Now..if it is indeed Herman Hesse...try these links, and see if anything sounds familiar. link link
(Now it gets to the point that I think I'm actually not helping at all, haha). :/
I like to read and write short story for the time being but its not about the length but somewhere it should be nice and have a deep meaning of story as essayswriting org have the long list of nice topic story on which you can write really nice by just adding your creative mind in that case only.
so you will realize that how simple it was when you have the tittle and making story without make it too long for wait.
