There's a lot on this, the 10:40-minute version -- it's a real tour de force I don't know a lot of them; here's the ones I pick up.
0:12 "Uh-oh the cuckoo clock kids, it's time to go" (Howdy Doody Show)
0:32 "Clap your hands, everybody" from "The Breaks" by Kurtis Blow
0:40 "Def wit the record that was mixed a long time ago" "I Know You Got Soul" by Eric B and Rakim
1:36 [scratched behind Freddie's vocal] "Good Times" by Chic
3:14 "It's too funky in here, gimme some air" "Too Funky in Here" by James Brown
3:44 "Yes, yes, y'all" Beastie Boys
4:22 "You ruined my record man" "Earache My Eye" by Cheech and Chong
5:00 "Apache" by Sugar Hill Gang (congas, up to the "ho! ho!")
5:18 [guitar lick and organ] Crap. Don't know this one. Think it's Booker T and the MGs
5:48 "I got to be myself" Al Green?
6:36 [piano riff] from "Hyperbolicsyllabicsesquedalymistic" by Isaac Hayes (piano riff, popularized by/sampled in "Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos" by Public Enemy
7:52 "all night" "More of that Jazz" Queen (!)
8:50 [guitar lick and organ] Crap. Don't know this. again
8:56 More Cheech and Chong; I don't have that record
Thanks, but i meant another mix :D it lasts 9 minutes, you can download it from mercuryparadise.com
it has songs like Immigrant song, One of these nights..
Bit of a difference between 9 and 10 minutes (!)
The AOBTD B-Boy 'Dusted' version did appear on a Basic Beats sampler. I believe it was a promo, however, so maybe it was held back because of clearance issues.
The disco version is a pretty interesting artifact--seems to be a DJ-homemade version from around the time the record was made. It doesn't sound like it was made with a sampler, in other words--just two turntables and a microphone.
So here's what I picked up.
Mostly DJ-made sound effects, really in the first 1:30. It happens elsewhere.
2:00 The double-up beats around here are from "Genius of Love" by Tom Tom Club
2:27 "You Haven't Done Nothin'" by Stevie Wonder
2:52 "Immigrant Song" by Led Zeppelin
3:35 "One of These Nights" by the Eagles
4:11 something by the Doobie Brothers
4:28 don't know
4:58
5:13
5:22 "Breakfast in America" by Supertramp
5:31 "Play That Funky Music" by Wild Cherry
6:03 "Honky Tonk Woman" by the Rolling Stones
6:38 "Cocaine" by Eric Clapton
6:55 "Body Heat" by James Brown
7:12 "Pick up the Pieces" by the Average White Band
7:37
7:58 "Smoke on the Water" by Deep Purple
8:14 "Party Time" by the Fatback Band
8:20 Peter Gunn Theme
8:33 "Do Wah Diddy" by Manfred Mann Band [their version?]
Thanks for hipping me to the disco version, actually! I've been on that site before, but never downloaded that "disco" version -- thought it was just the Basic Beats thing I wrote about earlier in the thread.
B-Boy was released as a promo. B-side to WWRY by Rick Rubin on 12". One of the better mixes i think. Never heard the version this thread was oficially about. anyone can share or have link? would be apreciated. :)
