Is this version a bit blurred still, or is it perfectly clean? |
Rick 12.06.2008 13:57 |
Still a bit blurred, but nothing major. Is there a perfect version available? |
buck1107 12.06.2008 16:36 |
Thank you very much Barbara! The quality is astounding! Is there a version with a menu? This quality must be very close to source. |
deleted user 12.06.2008 20:26 |
Sir GHSadly, not an upgrade. It's the same common (blurry) version around re-encoded and with simulated stereo sound, that's the reason for 2GB. |
RoyThomasBaker 12.06.2008 22:16 |
Thank you very much for this, YV! |
The Real Wizard 12.06.2008 22:32 |
Ok... thanks for the info! Rick wrote: Is there a perfect version available?Somewhere, perhaps. It was broadcast on TV somewhere. What we have here is probably a second or third gen copy from TV. |
The Real Wizard 12.06.2008 22:34 |
By the way... You guys should close off the font tags in your names so that all the text doesn't appear like thisor this. :) |
YourValentine 13.06.2008 04:17 |
It does not come from a 2nd or 3rd gen VHS tape but it comes from VHS. The slightly "blurry" picture comes from the Japanese TV, we also have that on the "Jewels" DVD. I don't know why that is but we used to have it on old US TV productions (pre 1980), too. The 2 GB come from the file length, it's only 32 minutes, 2 GB are normal. |
pittrek 13.06.2008 04:27 |
What do you mean with "blurry" pictures ? |
pittrek 13.06.2008 04:28 |
Rick wrote: Still a bit blurred, but nothing major. Is there a perfect version available? Not "perfect", but a "longer" version does exist |
Rick 13.06.2008 05:10 |
What about the footage of Dreamers Ball on the ANATO DVD? It looks like this show to me. I guess it's completely filmed, because they show songs from the beginning, the middle and the end of the set. Still, it's just an assumption :) BTW, I do like this version of Don't Stop Me Now. Freddie having troubles singing it and Roger helping him out. |
pittrek 13.06.2008 05:20 |
Rick wrote: What about the footage of Dreamers Ball on the ANATO DVD? It looks like this show to me.What what what ? Where exactly is the footage (video clip disc or documentary disc, which part ...) ? I would like to check it. BTW, I do like this version of Don't Stop Me Now. Freddie having troubles singing it and Roger helping him out.I love it too, you can hear that the guy suffers and how he's happy when he manages to scream higher notes during the middle improvisation |
RadekQ 13.06.2008 05:38 |
Hmmm, is it just me or something is wrong with the files...? I can't play it via PowerDVD (open dvd files from HDD). Hmmm, Anybody? |
Rick 13.06.2008 07:00 |
pittrek wrote:I guess it's Dreamers Ball, because Roger is behind the small drumkit in the middle of the stage. It's the video clip disc. There's also another shot of Roger from the other side, minus Freddie and the part of John's bass. EDIT: You can see these shots in the last bit of Good Company ;-) EDIT2: Dammit, seems like printscreen doesn't work for this! It's a black screen now (at least here), so I'm going to try it once more in a different way! |
Rick 13.06.2008 07:21 |

rhapsody8 13.06.2008 07:37 |
Rick wrote: Here are the new shots: link link linkI can't remember this b&w footage. Which video you used for make this caps?? |
Rick 13.06.2008 08:52 |
Well they made it b&w, because the whole Good Company video is like that ;-) I used VLC media player to make snapshots (video disc of the ANATO DVD) It's hard to tell where it's from. It really looks like Tokyo, because of the cameras' position and the close-ups. I can't remember Paris having these kind of close-ups. Although it's still hard to tell. We had this discussion before, but can't remember what the outcome was. |
The Real Wizard 13.06.2008 11:21 |
Without a doubt it's from Tokyo. Thanks for the reminder about that! But the reason for identifying it as Tokyo is simply comparing the clothing they're wearing. We can't use close-ups as the only reason, as there is multi-cam footage from Paris on The Champions and the Magic Years, with plenty of close-ups. |
Rick 13.06.2008 12:39 |
You're right about that, Bob. Been some time out of the Queen world, so I forgot about Paris having such close-ups as well ;-) Do you think it was filmed completely? |
vivequeen 13.06.2008 12:46 |
MERCI BEAUCOUP |
SCOM 13.06.2008 12:55 |
thanks i have this version...link it's a upgrade? |
RadekQ 13.06.2008 13:58 |
not realy... The difference is quite hard to notice. In some parts the new version (2GB) is less "blocky" than the previous one. If you watch both of them on TV, you will not (almost) see the difference. The sound is also quite similar, so if you have low speed Internet connection it is not worth to download (IMO). |
The Real Wizard 13.06.2008 15:40 |
Rick wrote: Do you think it was filmed completely?I think so. There is footage from various points of the concert from the beginning to the end, so I can't see why they would have turned the cameras off at certain points. And there was more footage shown on US TV in 1979, just that one time. Check out my website for the details. |
Vilatrista 13.06.2008 21:37 |
Great!!! Thank you very much |
on my way up 14.06.2008 06:45 |
I too think the whole show was filmed. I'd like to see the complete show. Despite Freddie's voice issues it's a great show. I haven't heard the complete show so I wonder how Freddie sounded on songs like dreamers ball. Maybe some bits could be included on a compilation box, if that ever happens. But because of Freddie's voice a stand alone release is not possible. they will not release a show with Freddie struggling that much. |
Rick 14.06.2008 08:06 |
At least QP has it in perfect quality. A Live Killers boxset would be a dream. So many material is available from this era. It could easily be a commercial succes as they had enough hits at the time. Although it would never happen... |
Hayek Eva 14.06.2008 09:04 |
Thank you this DVD.I'm glad to have this also. Regards. Eva |
deleted user 14.06.2008 11:43 |
Sir GHApparently, the full show was caught on video, but for some reason Mr.Brooks is hoarding this information. He says QP only have bits of this show link I also found strange that, after being used in several clips and documentaries, Greg didn't mention about having Japan 1975 footage in the archives! |
sekywa 14.06.2008 18:52 |
Magnifico! Thanx for sharing |
The Real Wizard 14.06.2008 19:13 |
If Greg can't even identify which tours certain pictures come from, then he probably isn't able to identify all the footage in the vaults. As long as the footage has survived the test of time, then it's there. In that case, he just hasn't found it, or he hasn't identified it properly. |
