309 $ - quite expensive, probably the money is for the flight case (flight case???). However, we should not complain when they finally release something we wanted for a long time. Surely, there will be offers. I would like to see a picture. |

I didn't find any information in the "official sources". A quick google search with the EAN/ASIN codes tells me that alcastar.com and amazon.com also have the same box set in presale, so obviously they must have received their information from somewhere... Most companies probably wouldn't advertise anything this much in advance, but there's always the possibility these might get an easy 20€ (or $50 in case of the American stores) profit from every sale. Since it's listed at 140€ in the euro-zone, you can expect this to be the "standard cd version" comparable to the FM collection. |

I believe this is true. Greg said something about a "massive release" for this November. I hope they will include the (promo) radio edits from around the world - mono versions would also be welcome. |
Bohardy 09.06.2008 13:47 |
This indeed is true. Meant to say something about this a while back. Which makes me sound as if I'm trying to retrospectively claim prior knowledge of this release. Which is what I'm doing, I suppose... :) |
onevsion 09.06.2008 14:21 |
Sounds like a nice release for a decent price. Not going to buy it though. I prefer the good old vinyl 7" singles... |
kohuept 09.06.2008 15:02 |
It'd be great to get something like this - provided it is done well, of course. I'm wondering, though, why does this release warrant 10 discs? Has this been mentioned before? |
YourValentine 09.06.2008 15:44 |
10 CDs are not too much. Take the singles from various countries along with the various b-sides plus the 12" singles. Maybe you can answer the question about the radio edits, Bohardy? |
PieterMC 09.06.2008 15:47 |
If the CD set is going to cost that then I can only imagine how much the rumored vinyl set will cost. |

Well, it sounds like a wonderful release. However, in light of the previous poster, I must agree that, for the most part, it's previously released material. Although it would be nice to listen to different takes of some of those compositions and the ones (such as A Human Body) that hasn't really been put on CD. |
Tero 09.06.2008 16:24 |
PieterMC wrote: If the CD set is going to cost that then I can only imagine how much the rumored vinyl set will cost.Well, loads of bands are selling their brand new vinyl singles for under £2, so at least in theory QP could sell a limited (5,000?) series for as little as £100 and still make a profit. Of course we all know that QP isn't going to release anything that doesn't guarantee a HUGE profit, so we can expect the set to fetch double that amount. :/ Personally, I think about a hundred or so 7" singles from the original releases are good enough for me, unless they can come up with a REALLY good incentive... 7" picture covers of the Heaven for Everyone and You Don't Fool Me singles just won't do it for me. ;) |
thunderbolt 31742 09.06.2008 17:19 |
First off, keep in mind that Amazon in particular is known for posting items that don't exist yet (and very well may never) in order to gauge buyer interest and determine if it's worth carrying the item should it become available. Second, a box set of all the singles? Why? Virtually everyone who wants the singles already has them all, except we have the full album versions. Paying $300 for the single edit of Liar doesn't sound like my idea of a good time. Once again, QPL, I beg you, give us something new. Hammersmith '79, maybe? Maybe release the multitracks officially--I'd pay for the multitracks of the entire ANATO album, even if I am one of the ones who landed the Bo Rhap tracks already. How about the unreleased material? I'd love to hear a fully-mastered version of Rock It with Freddie on vocals, or for that studio acetate of Hangman to finally see the light of day beyond the vaults of a few collectors. But a singles box set? Why? We already have this, it's just not in the neat packaging. As I said before, I don't know how true this is. Amazon's known for doing this sort of thing to test interest in the product. And while it seems like the kind of Christmas release QPL favors, one thing doesn't sit right--Q+PR will be in the midst of their tour and shoving publicity for TCR down everyone's throats. It gets into that "who we were vs. who we are now" debate that they've touched on...why would you want to distract from who you are now by releasing something like this during your tour? |
Penetration_Guru 09.06.2008 17:44 |
This has been on the release schedule before, we produced a tracklisting before, we discussed the pros and cons of what should be included before, we moaned about the price before... ...and it was postponed before. Come back when there's artwork. |
Darren1977 09.06.2008 18:46 |
Greg is bound to come on saying whether this is true or not. Great that we are finally getting something new and has been talked about in great detail, but as the previous posters said a couple of songs not previously issued on CD, A Human Body for instance, is just another excuse to rehash already released product. Surely they will include some if not all of the promo videos as there will be no need to release a GVH3 collection of Queen+ songs. If they can keep the price down around the £70 to £100 mark i would buy it. The accompanying booklet would definitley be worth it if they include all the various sleeves that were issued around the world. Roll on '09 for the Anthology releases! |
Deacon Fan 09.06.2008 18:59 |

If our rock and roll heros are going to release a boxset i hope it would be of b-sides, alternate takes (The fast version of We Will Rock You done in studio for instance), remixes and interviews. Releasing a set that contains songs that are all available in the existing album catalog doesn't make sense |
Benn 10.06.2008 05:30 |
Of course it makes sense - as someone else posted earlier, this is all previously releaset, contains all the hits and is EASY to release. Just a bigger version of the Greatest Hits packages. Good old QPL sticking to what they do best and trying to take the collecting community for another long, boring ride. |
inu-liger 10.06.2008 05:55 |
I inquired with Greg about this, and this is what he had to say:
Greg Brooks wrote: "Hi Richard, The rumour is not entirely wrong, but it's more wrong than it's right. You can quote me on QZ with this if you like. We have been working on various concepts for this project, but those speculated about on QZ are not accurate. We would not want to put 4 versions of FOOL ME on, because it's just tedious. The Trent Rez thing is completely wrong. As is the Born To Love You edit - which is a promo only and NOT a proper Queen single. Sorry RG, the rumours are way off. Only the odd fraction is accurate - but then, when people make a series of guesses SOME of them are bound to be right, or thereabouts - just because of the law of averages, NOT because of accurate inside information, very clearly. Aside from Greg Brooks confirming that a singles boxset is going to be fucking rubbish and a complete waste of time (no promo mixes/edits... so we have to buy a 10CD boxset just to get A Human Body?!) - what the fuck is he talking about? What rumours? No one was saying that that list of songs was confirmed - just possibilities. Is that the planned release date or not? And as a side note - online retailers don't make releases up. This information will have been supplied to them by their suppliers, regardless of whether it is cancelled before it's due to be released. |

The hardcore fans like ourselves already have most if not all the albums and the more casual fans aren't likely to buy a large expensive set like this either. |
Deacon Fan 11.06.2008 02:57 |
The box might spawn the release of a smaller, 2 or 3 disc version, as the Freddie box did. Perhaps a 2 disc 'Essential Queen' set with a bonus disc of b-sides. Something for lower-income folks to buy whilst saving up for the big box ;) *only speculation of course.... |
pittrek 11.06.2008 05:12 |
I have very mixed emotions about this thing. + finally something for the "collectors", not only "casual fans" - not all singles included - crazy price - re-release of old stuff as usual So I don't really know what to thing about it. I'll definitely wait for the official track list and the packaging and I'll see. Maybe it will be a nice surprise |
Negative Creep 11.06.2008 05:51 |
It would have been a good release if it has included all the promo only mixes/edits - but Gregs Brooks seems to have just confirmed this won't be the case. Further proof that QPL are just out to fuck their fans over. |

Further proof that QPL are just out to fuck their fans over.Well Greg had a valid point. It would not make sense to put promo mixes on a boxset based on singles that were on SALE to the public, not given to a select group of people or so, nor put every mix there is. That is what the purpose of the eventual rarities box should be for, I'm assuming. And are people forgetting that since this would be a singles box, that this would likely include all the normal b-sides including those not previously included on albums, compilations or even on CD at all? That said, $300 seems to be steep for a set like that. I hope there are more in the way of extras than just the rumoured 10 CD's to justify that price, like a nice thick book detailing all the tracks, including cover art for various single releases, etc. Otherwise $30+ a CD is a bit hard to swallow. |

Well at least Greg has confirmed that it's coming. I like the way he says that to release several versions of the same single would be tedious, not long after they release the freddie 60th birthday thing which was basically one long dance remix of Mr Bad Guy!!! If they do a singles box set, to me it should be definitive and actually include all the mixes that appeared on singles (I wouldn't listen to them but they should be there). Otherwise it's like releasing the Miracle video EP without the video clip for The Miracle single - an absolute mess up. However, it is just essentially another way to release a greatest hits package - if it were for the fans we would just get a smaller set with the b-sides on. (Whch they'll probably then go and do a couple of months later AFTER we've all bought the first big box). |

I really hope this is true. Having said this, the only thing I am in fact looking forward to (as I'm sure lots of people here are too) are the rarer songs, remixed remastered, polished up etc. Would really like to hear Hangman, either a good quality Live recording or a studio one. See What A Fool I've Been, Feelings, Feel Like, random other studio outakes. Even interesting dialogue between members in the studio would interest me greatly. Rare demos, etc. I can't say that Single Edits and Remixes interest me much... |

Here's a thought - although we will (when it finally gets released) obviously get the physical box set release, will they also release a digital version (iTunes etc..)? If so, theoretically we should be able to download just the tracks that we want (ie anything rare, 12" mixes etc..) and not have to pay huge amounts of money for CDs full of standard tracks that we already have. If this happens then everyone's a winner - those who want the shiny packaging and repeated versions of Bo Rhap have thier wish, whereas the die hard fans can jut download the 'jewels'. (I suppose the only non-winner is EMI & QPL who won't gets tons of cash out of everyone, but just the odd 79p here and there!) |

Believe me, when it comes to deciding which formats are released, the fan opinions aren't worth shit. That much is apparent by the upcoming QPR releases which are pretty much everything the fans DIDN'T want when they were asked. |
slithybill 22.08.2008 14:26 |
I imagine they'll do a delayed digital release 2 or 3 weeks after the physical release. That way us die hards will have to buy our "shiny packages" before we're able to cherry pick what we actually want or need. Either that or none of the rarities might be released digitally - just the hits, yet again. |
