Hi everybody,
I've noticed something quite interesting today when I purchased the Queen On Fire Vol. 2 book of the extremely nice collection that is being released in Spain during the last months.
Take a look at the pictures below. The first one is the known album front cover pic; and the second is another one from the show; very similar to the first, but obviously different ones.
But take a close look at Brian.
It is exactly the same in both pictures. Exactly.
Not Freddie, obviously; not Roger, who is doing different moves in each picture; and of course not John, who's wearing different clothes.
But Brian has the same pose, the same facial expression in both pictures.
So, the front cover picture of Queen On Fire - live at the Bowl is an edited one, a composition, isn't it ?
anybody had noticed this before? I had never seen the second picture , so ... what do you think?

Yeah, I think you're right! If you watch closely even the shape of Brian's shadow on the stage remains the same on both pictures. And if you count the lightbulbs on the lower line, from left to right (starting from that big box or whatever in the middle)Brian's right foot is on the 5th lightbulb on one picture and on the 6th lightbulb on the other one.
Knowing the fact that even their live audio materials are usually heavily edited, I wouldn't be surprised if the QOF cover would be an edited photograph... But if you think about it, probably it's rather difficult to find a good looking photo with all band members that would be a great cover. So I don't see it as a huge problem. And anyway it's a cover so it can be edited in my opinion. Like Made In Heaven cover picture is edited together with the statue and the band members as well.
Oh, it is not a problem for me, either, Roho!
I've done the same in some of the covers I've designed (ie: QPR Stockholm DVD link ), but somehow it has surprised me when I've noticed this
by the way, many tks for your reply and for counting the lightbulbs :)
vonkeil: yes, I know that issue with The Game cover, but in that case we're talking about two completely different pictures; in the QOF case, it is a composition using parts of different pics to create a new one
It's obviously a very good composition. You don't have to search a lot to see that. If you look, john in the cover has freddie in front of his bass, and in the inner book you see the original pic of him alone, without freddie in front.
If you got the dvd you see a close up picture of john deacon in the bookled wich is the one they used for the cover aswell, I think th only part which is "real" in this picture is the stage and roger!

Good eye for that shrunken cock. As they say, it takes a shrunken cock to see another one's shrunken cock. Or something.
Not surprised that such a thing would happen. Wonder if Brian made the call?

It's bigger.
hahahaha !! good one Zebonka!
liam, take a look at this: link
see the picture on the UK LP issue and then see the picture on the Austrian 1986 CD issue or the USA 2003 DVD-audio issue
Look at Freddie's or Brian's hand or at John's jacket.
They're different pics
Photos used in the Cover composite photo are mostly found in the slide show on disk 2.
There was a thread about these ages ago when on fire at the bowl first came out.

On the CD cover of THE GAME, you can see John Deacon's t-shirt, with the words "BIKE IT", that's not on the LP cover. His leather jacket is "closed".
It's also the same difference between the "original" CD and the 20 years anniversary edition (Hollywood Records).
Sorry if this is wrong information, but I checked this for about 8 years ago...
...by the way, what does "BIKE IT" mean???
-I asked my English-teacher about this in elementary school, but he said it was bad words, and wouldn't explain it to me...
The 2001 DVD releases of We Will Rock You (Montreal 81) also look to be digitally altered. (link
The shot is clearly from the end of CLTCL, and the point on the DVD where we get this shot doesn't have John in the shot - he's very clearly been added in later!
