Roger's Beard 26.05.2008 05:39 |
As reported on QZ news page: "Paul Rodgers was recorded talking before a solo gig in the USA the other day. he talks about working in the studio with Queen the upcoming "WORLD" tour. It seams that the tracks on the new album are penned by Paul, Brian & Roger seperately, but gives a hint that they may start to write songs together at a later date. (another new album after Cosmos Rocks perhaps?)" I will simply say that I'm now so sick and fed up with Queen and flippin Paul Rodgers, that I hope to God they RETIRE from being a working band after this studio album and tour in the hope that they might actually get on with doing some "proper" Queen stuff, whether it's 5.1'ing the remaining albums or releasing that anthology boxset we've been promised for 15 years plus! I can just see that if they DO make another album together, then that will be another excuse for the boxset to be put back. I'll be flippin dead before I see that bugger! |
TheAmazingEvent 26.05.2008 06:39 |
I agree Pootle Queen has run it's course and offers nothing new in it's present form. They should go now on a relative high and concentrate on the back cataloge and rework the unfinished archives to produce a proper queen album with freddie as a platform to release the box set! afterall B & R are pensioners now themselves and i'm sure there's enough material sitting around to keep them both occupied for the next few years. Johns retirement makes more and more sense to me these days. I just wish he'd continued to be involved in the remixing and archives (afterall it's his aswell) rather than dissapear |

Read it, not bitching, making a resonable personal comment. Queen finished in 1991. QPR whilst great to see once live should have been the farewell tour IMO. Many disagree. I'm fine with that. |

Why don't they just tour and record with Freddie Mercury already?!? That's what everyone wants, why doesn't Brian listen to the people?!? |

AlexRocks wrote: What are you all talking about? Queen are going to be making more l.p.s. What the hell is the problem? That's f'n' brilliant!!!The problem is that Brian and Roger are NOT Queen, which means any material they release won't be Queen material. I would rather have the anthology releases with a handful of unfinished 4-man songs, than a handful of sub-par solo albums. The prospect of yet another delay on the anthology series because of a Q+PR recording session is fucking horrible! |
prince_tom 26.05.2008 15:28 |
i don't get the f**king point in making waves on Q+PR. first of all: lets wait and see. dont judge a book by it's cover... i myself am not pauls biggest fan but... hey, lets give him a chance... i wonder if there was such voices if the project wouldn't have the 'Queen'-name - and'd be called ... hum ... 'the noodels' or sth. so: what's the fuzz about ? two of our favourite musicians make lots of noise again and party on... just smile...(mean: 'be happy', not the band :-D)! and i'm pretty sure we all WILL see GF3 and thus awful K N O W N commercial stuff, when the last former members will retire (which hopefully will be far far in the future)... i'm glad they try again and rock the house, the cosmos or whatever. just my two cents. |
Tero 26.05.2008 15:37 |
prince_tom wrote: i wonder if there was such voices if the project wouldn't have the 'Queen'-name - and'd be called ... hum ... 'the noodels' or sth. That's the whole point, isn't it? They're choosing to carry on with the Queen name, and because of that decision they feel it isn't time to release the archive material just yet. If they were calling themselves Noodels, it would be pretty obvious they were past the whole Queen phase, and they would be okay to release the archive material. prince_tom wrote: two of our favourite musicians make lots of noise again and party on... just smile...By themselves they aren't my solo artists, but they were a part of my favourite band with the four man line-up. There's no need to cheer something you don't like. ;) |
StoneColdClassicQueen 26.05.2008 15:53 |
Oh dear God, NO! Not another one of these posts... I'm not even bothering to make a comment on Q+PR haters anymore... But seriously, Paul Rodgers is Chuck Norris with a British accent. One of these days, he's gonna end up killing us on a tour or something.. *hides* |

What would you say if Brian, Roger and Paul said in an interview they had recorded a new album together, but it would stay unreleased year after year. What if they came up with a new greatest hits album instead every Christmas, and refused to release that new material? Would you still hope for them to continue on their chosen path for as long as they want to? Would you still write such childish messages on Queenzone? |

He already is a legend, and that percentage of narrow-minded Queen fans aren't going to change that. Few people are in the club of rock royalty, and Paul Rodgers is one of them. He is the only person ever to have been in three platinum-selling bands. He doesn't need to prove himself to anyone. There are people who recognize this, and then there are those who are ignorant. There is no middle ground in this case. BigV's signature says: We all stop bitching and start enjoying the fact the QUEEN are no longer a forgotten band, but a living, breathing entity creating new and exciting music.Perfect. |

Just a thing I thought of.. when Brian and Roger did the Amsterdam show and the Queens jubilee it was labelled as Queen but as far as I remember no one objected then. And that sure as hell wasnt Queen, and bad aswell. QPR is actually more of Queen than that. Still only two original members (if you discount Spike) but they are doing what they originally did in the band. No extra drummers, no pop star guest vocalists, no backing vocalists, a lot less backing musicians. Now they have a real rock singer with a great backcatalogue and legendary career of his own. I would love to see John in the band, but he doesnt want to. No one of us knows why, but I for one dont believe that it has anything to do with him having opinions like "Its not queen without Freddie" and so on. As far as Jamie is concerned he actually adds to the sound so I have no objection at all to having him on the tour. Personally I find it rather strange how you can be a fan of a band and not want its members to release new music. We havent had any new songs in ten years so I think its about time. I can understand all the people who wants the box sets or a 70s concert. But if this album goes well it will sure create incentives for the band to release more backcatalogue products. But anyway All the best everyone!:) |

Roger Taylor, 2008 Classic Rock Magazine "We know some people will moan, 'Oh, Fred's not on it...' Of course he's not, you dickhead. If they want to know why we're bothering to do this, it's because we're still alive. It's quite simple. If they don't like it, just don't buy the record or come to the show." Roger Taylor and Brian May, 2008 Classic Rock Magazine Roger: "I hope [it is heavily scrutinized]; the worst thing on earth would be for it to come out with a whimper. For me, it's very important to prove that we are still a creative entity. We're a working band with something to offer, not just the old hits." Brian: "I'm okay with the levels of expectation. That's life. We're confident that what we're planning to put in front of people is good enough." |

Groundbreaking rock stars who have an impact on the music industry get bored with retreading old ground. That's why they're more passionate about doing new material that just remastering old stuff. If they didn't have that personality, then they wouldn't have done all the cool stuff we like from the '70s to begin with. You really want GVH3 instead of a new Queen album? REALLY? |

I'd like the opportunity to be able to pay for the Innuendo vids, but GVH3 is just going to be laden with a bunch of other crap I don't want. Having said that, I will pay for stuff I haven't seen yet. As it stands, I'm sure there can't be much of that left - what with all of that behind the scenes footage having leaked out. What's left? |

Hello What is all the fuss about i agree with a few posters here about queen being a active entity recording and touring and i agree about the boxsets being delayed SO WHAT we will have to be patient, i remember a similar topic where i stated the beatles fans had to wait 25 YEARS for their band's anthologies. I know there was bootlegs and tracks around at the time but nothing OFFICIAL so be patient guys remember the saying "good things comes to those who wait" and with the new album tour and a possible 2nd release the future looks bright. |
