Anyone know regarding We Will Rock You, which came first, the slow or the fast version? Or were they supposed to be just one song as in the Maida Vale studio session in 1977. If the latter, I wonder if after Freddie penned Champions the band thought a slower version of WWRY would blend better with Champions to start off News of the World. I'm just speculating about that part. Anyone know?
Brian May has said that the song was written to encourage audience participation. Honestly, the slow version with its "stomp stomp clap" does that a lot more effectively than the full electric version. The full electric version also bears a few similarities to TYMD musically and structurally, which makes me believe that Brian rearranged the slow one specifically so they'd have a song other than TYMD to start their next tour with. NOTW was kind of short on powerful, concert-opening numbers, as you might recall.
Most of this is pure speculation on my part, as I don't think Brian has ever elaborated much on the evolution of WWRY, and if you asked him now, he'd probably write another book about the play.

It is in Spanish but broadly at one of its parts said:
The BBC documentary says that Queen, starting in 1975, was the first band realized that the atmosphere there was in a stadium during a rock concert, should usher in a new language. In Seven Ages of Rock, Brian May, guitarist, said: "One day ends playing at Hyde Park in London and at the end of the show people would singing "You will never walk alone".In this I wondered what time the audience sing in a concert if I had the opportunity to do so, if the roles were reversed. That night I woke up with a catchy rhythm and hard and I began to write: and We Will Rock You ".
"with a catchy rhythm and hard"
maybe brian talks about the slow version....
I have a We are the Champions/We will Rock You 7", but I don't think it's the original official one, it looks like it though...
It says on both sides it's (C) 1975. This have to be wrong!? They're both from 1977, right?
Yes 1977.
A long time ago I heard the standard slow version of WWRY wasn't "finished", but it had taken off as the B-Side to WATC and became such a massive hit that they decided not to mess with it. Then again, I can't recall the source so who knows....
May I do a very stupid joke? I know no one will laugh, but I feel like doing it...sorry if I come across as idiotic, but it's the best I can do as far as jokes are concerned...
My answer: Of course the FAST came first than the slow, otherwise it'd be a paradox...
So, like, that was the joke, and...well, it's better for me to stop.

I felt so like doing the joke, and, it's funny how my mind works, because I knew in advance that the joke was miserable, but there was just this need of doing the joke, it's kind of crazy, if you think about it...lol.
But yours, that was a good joke. Hahaha.
Double joke, even!
Thanks!:-)
