I don't like "greatest hits' because they have only been using songs that were released on singles. Real Queen fans purchase of all the discs and find songs such as "tenement funster, the march of the black queen, the white queen, it's late, great king rat, was it all worth it" ... and so on ... It is not until it had purchased all the discs that you can call itself a true Queen fan! |

That's why it's called Greatest Hits, sheesh. Anyways, ,if you're a real fan, you'd be buying the albums for their whole catalog. |

Everyone has to start somewhere. Business drives the world, GH will sell. If people like it they'll buy the albums like i did - everyone's happy, Queen become rich, EMI becomes rich and my curiosity turned me into a Queen fan by buying all the albums, which made Queen and EMI even richer - what's wrong with that? It is not until it had purchased all the discs that you can call itself a true Queen fan!THAT is an amazing story! Thanks. PS: IT can't purchase anything. IT is a thing, not a person. But Cousin It was a huge Queen fan. He owned a local record shop where I grew up and was constantly playing Queen. Then he cut his hair and stopped smoking pot. End of story. Sorry, not much climax there. Your story was clearly more amazing than mine. Good Day! PSS: Greatest Hits WAS issued on Disc. So, if I bought all the Queen "discs" but not Greatest Hits, than I couldn't really be a true Queen fan. What we appear to have here is a Queen Paradox. Obviously this thread is going to wrap itself around your CPU's cerebral cortex like that lizard thing in Chekov's ear. Someone hand me a "Phaser". |

I absolutely loved listening to their greatest hits collection (the red CD). It's what introduced me to the band. I recall listening to it for countless enjoyable hours. And, much like my comrades, I built my collection afterwards. |

Queen Sweden 1986 wrote: Real Queen fans purchase of all the discs and find songs such as "tenement funster, the march of the black queen, the white queen, it's late, great king rat, was it all worth it" ... and so on ...I swear some of those songs appeared on the albums... Or was I just imagining reading some of those on the back of the CD cases... Queen Sweden 1986 wrote: It is not until it had purchased all the discs that you can call itself a true Queen fan!Oh, so you expect teenagers, such as myself, who don't have that much money and were not around when Queen were (I was born the year after Freddie died) to buy the rare stuff that is most likely WAY out of my price range, just so we can become "True Queen Fans" Pisht, I'll stick to my Greatest Hits thanks. It's cheaper. |

The reason greatest hits albums are made are to attract a wider audiences who are not people who know the entire back catlouge and just like the classics that you hear on the radio so it would of sold very well if most of the songs were songs the general public haven't heard of that why its one of the greatest selling albums of all time |
Dubroc 13.05.2008 13:15 |
Howmany GH of other artists do you have? That's because you want to have some of their songs you know. And yes, I have all of Queen's GH. I don't play them but just need to have them in my collection. |

"I Was Born To Love You" was a hit in Japan in 2004, I'm sure they'll milk that. :/ |

Greatest Hits albums aren't really for the hardcore fans. They're really just made for either casual fans for to get people interested in buying the actual albums. |

Greatest Hits 2 brought Queen to me. and... i love the 'i want it all'-mix on gh2 ! i think it's essentially neccessary to throw out some kind of GH in order to recrute new fans. the idea is to give an overview. some people cannot afford the whole album catalogue and don't know which period of an artist fits to his listening-habilities... so gh and gh2 (even gh 2 1/4 (aka. the MIH-b-sides) and gh 2 1/2 (aka. queen rocks) are a good starting point to get into the queen-world.) gh3 aswell sucks except for the first song, of course (maybe my opinion is based on the fact that i was a real fan by the date of publishing...) GH1&2 are great albums and support some exclusive mixes worth listening to even IF you got the complete album-catalogue AND hundreds of bootlegs... trust me... |
