My apologies if this has been discussed before, but...
I've been wondering about the song Flash on the CD. Clearly there is a synth, but is it played by Freddie? Even the brilliant QueenConcerts website fails to shed more light on this matter concerning this particular show, except mentioning about a Jupiter 8 used during soundcheck: link
I'm aware that during the Game tour Freddie played a synth so I'm assuming it's Freddie: link
So apparently they only brought the synth on stage for that one song in Montreal. Does anyone have any photos?
If I had to take an educated guess, the synth is a tape being played. You can hear Freddie playing the piano on the song. If you listen to Another One Bites The Dust, you can hear the hand claps in the middle but noone is clapping. So I would say, just like the middle of BoRhap, it's a pre-recorded tape being played.
too hard to play on a tape without a metronome in your ear .. anyway I don't think they've used a tape only to play a keyboard track. I guess there's someone behind the stage playing the synth.
The handclapping comes from the drum machine Roger used to play during Bites The Dust.
In the South American 1981 tour, Brian played the piano AND synth in Flash... Freddie just stand aside the drums and sing. This can be seen in the videos from the shows in Brazil and Argentina.
My apologies for my bad english!

Often it was the drum-tech who played the parts even though the SynDrums were at the kit. Arty did mention this (might even be on the talkover of the Montreal DVD??)
