Like I always assumed it wasn't until after the Magic Tour, because they came back with such a bang after Live Aid, and Freddie didn't look ill at all. Although I've heard other sources that he contracted it around 1984 sometime, which would make sense as he was on the gay scene a lot in the early 80s....
No one knows and I think that´s very personal and irrelevant, some people say he was HIV+ since 1984,1986 or 1987,the fact is that you can be HIV+ for many years and look very healthy so don´t take into account that he looked pretty well in those years.
When I was a small boy I believed Freddie had gotten AIDS when he broke his leg or something in 1984, with a wrong blood transfusion.
Then I read Jim Hutton's wonderful book at age 10.
You nitwits, Freddie got G.R.I.D from the gay conspiracy that surrounded him. Just go and read the highly factual book of Mariam Ahundova (who is an expert and must have been a close friend of Freddie)

i would have too say around the mid 80's but my other opinion too carry on with my first one is & i know you guys are more then likely are going too disagree with me
but i believe Freddie caught the aids after he got together with Jim hutton
and i believe he was the one that gave Freddie them.
everyone can think i'm a total fuckwitt
but i really dont care.
yeah i would agree too,you can live healthy for a while before the symptons/affects can catch up,i say he prob got it in the early 80s too,as for the book,i have it,its a great read, some really personal photos and stories in it,its out of print so you can only get it from ebay or amazon, some people hated the book, sayin he sold out to freddie, but, come on,freddies personal assitance wrote a book too.
I have always thought he didn't knew about it untill after Knebworth, because I think the last concert would have been more special. It's just like another show from the Magic Tour. Allthough they were good shows, they should have done something special at the last concert (I think).
But maybe he felt he could done some more shows, even with the knowlage (during the Magic tour)...?
But yes, it's none of our business...
