Serry... 05.04.2008 13:19 |
"I wanna get my features on your TV" Isn't there something about "magazines"? "See this creature on every street, in every scene" More like "screen" than "scene". |
kingogre 05.04.2008 16:31 |
instead of "i almost feel good..." i think it is, "if i was real good, then id stand no chance at all" reckon its some kind of comment on "c-lebritys" getting all the attention and chances instead of talented people. |
JacquesDaniels 05.04.2008 16:33 |
verse 2, as I heard it: I wanna get my future in magazines See this creature on every street, on every screen Writin' my life story before I'm twenty-one I gotta tell the world, they may say I'm dumb verse 3, I don't really know... Paul seemed to sing the third line out of the blue, but this is what I reckon it might be: I wanna be a star in a Broadway musical And you're gonna love me, though I can't sing or dance at all They might say I got difficult days to come And if I was real good, I'd stand no chance at all Nice rocker from the guys for a change. And thanks for the mp3 to whoever posted it. |
JacquesDaniels 05.04.2008 16:35 |
also, "future" might've been "features", as suggested earlier, who knows... |
Holly2003 05.04.2008 16:49 |
Why the weird spelling? Something to do with c-list celebrities? (A-list, B-list etc) Or have i missed something glaringly obvious? |

emrabt 05.04.2008 17:39 |
yeah i agree the line sounds like: They might say (HA) I'm lackadaisical |
Serry... 05.04.2008 18:08 |
So with lack of some ad-libs it goes like this: Oh yeah Ain't got no hope, got no idea What to do or why I'm here Wanna get my face on your TV I wanna be heard, I want to be seen Ain't got nothing No, nothing Nothing to show Make me a c-lebrity I want to be, a face on TV Aha Then you can see, I'm a c-lebrity I wanna get my features in magazines See this creature on every street, on every screen Write my life story before I'm 21 I gotta tell the world - they may say I'm dumb But I - ain't got nothing No, nothing Nothing to show Make me a c-lebrity I want to be, a face on TV Aha Then you can see, I'm a c-lebrity Yeah yeah yeah I wanna be a star (?) in a Broadway musical They will love me, though I can't sing or dance at all They might say ha I'm lackadaisical And if I was real good, I'd stand no chance at all (?) I want to be, a face on TV I wanna be on your screen Then you can see, I'm a c-lebrity Then you can say Then you can say, (?) you knew me one day Then you will know Then you will see, I'm a c-lebrity (?) inu-liger 05.04.2008 19:53 |
I think he's saying "pictures", not "features". Otherwise, I think Serry's transcription is correct :) By the way, the definition of lackadaisical: "lacking life, spirit, or zest" |

C-rappy song IMO. Typical Brian rock by numbers. He's been re-writing Hammer to Fall for years. No way that performace was 100% live either. Did you hear the harmonizing on Brian's guitar? I hope Roger brought some good songs to the table, he's capable of some pretty poignant stuff, even in his later solo CDs. |

Absolutely Roger-ish lyrics. |
steven 35638 06.04.2008 12:14 |
I might be wrong, but I swear I hear Brian May singing in the chorus and seeing him not singing simultaneously. |
Fenderek 06.04.2008 12:24 |
Yes- I did hear Brian in the chorus too... IMO it was half playback- guitar was almost definitely live and so was Paul... |
Holly2003 06.04.2008 12:34 |
Surely not. I mean, this is the same Brian may who criticised some bands for using tapes during live shows, isn't it? |
Champipple 06.04.2008 12:51 |
You're telling me that the guitar part at 2:26 is done through a harmonizer? I'd like to see another example of Brian ever sounding like this live in concert (being able to pull off one perfectly harmonized note during a solo). Maybe I'm wrong (I've been wrong before), but it sure sounds phoney to me. |
john bodega 06.04.2008 12:52 |
Standard practice for some of the music to be mimed on a TV show, that's how it's been done since the 60's. Smothers Brothers, for instance, I can think of one or two of their shows where bands would mime the backing but the singer would be live. Tis just how it goes, at least it wasn't total miming like old Las Palabras De Amour or however you spell it. |

kingogre 06.04.2008 15:12 |
am pretty sure it wasnt mimed, possibly sing-back as that is quite common on tv. still it actually sounded like it was mostly live with some pre-recorded backing vocals. the harmonizing effect on brians guitar could easily be produced with an effect pedal especially by a world class guitarist like brian. another possibilty is that it was jamie playing along. |

the three songs we heard so far on the new album are average at best. C-Lebrity is not exactly the greatest of songs. But the harmony guitar was in three parts! It can't just be Jamie and Bri. Immediately to me it sounded like a backing track. As someone else pointed out, although it should be possible to create that sound with a harmonizer, I've never yet heard Bri do it so cleanly, smoothly and perfectly with one live before. Odd. |

I doubt very much that ANY singles will be issued as they will no doubt bomb as much as Say It's Not True. This isn't a good song, let alone a great one. It's naff - the title alone is cringe worthy. It isn't relevant sounding (which is to be expected) and doesn't stand up to the Queen back catalogue or even any of the bands solo efforts. It isn't catchy or memorable either. Paul Rodgers hasn't been a going concern for decades - this won't change that fact. |

Masterful playing and great singing in a rock song with cringe worthy lyrics. I'd put this in the bottom 10% of the Queen catalogue. Nothing good, special or new about this. I'd say it's a musical collaboration with Roger taking a bigger role in the lyrics. Honestly, if this were any band but Queen there would be no notice of this song. They could write and play this in their sleep. |

My initial thought was that it was Brian's based on the recycled riff, but the lack of melody in a hard-rock song smacks of latter-day Roger. (after Strange Frontier... like the harder Cross songs). He's much better on mid-tempo poppier songs. I'll admit though that it's good to see them again. They all look healthy. |

Maybe they could pull it off if they make a cool video and hype the shit out of that single. Come on! Everybody does it. Pay a lot of money, force the song into mainstream so that Joe Public is aware of the release. Page/Plant and the Stones did it about 10 years ago, even Kiss had a video hit with Psycho Circus (crappy album and song). Certainly Queen and Paul Rodgers can do it. I am not talking a top 5 hit but I'm sure they still have what it takes to pull off a Top 20 single. I can imagine a serious performance video full of critic to C-lebrities, "talent" shows and reality TV, etc., with the band looking very serious and cool. No cosmos or astronomy references, no Brian solo playing in front of the Milky Way and PLEASE, ditch the Torpedo twins! |

I just listened to the four songs that should be on the new album. Take love and war boys have potential to be good, unless they ruin them. I don't like the new version of say it's not true, I think roger should have sang the whole song. the song doesn't fit brian or pauls voice, and Brian's solo is overplayed. C-lebrity is crap. As far as airplay on American classic rock stations go, I'd say they're about even. And Paul's songs got about as big a reaction as Queen songs from the audiences at the shows I attended there in 2005 and 2006. And if you want to get nitpicky, "Paul Rodgers", solo artist, gets played a lot more than "Freddie Mercury", "Brian May", and "Roger Taylor", solo artists. Of course, they all get played more than John Deacon. |

I could only go by the radio here in ny, and Queen still get more airplay Than bad company. Their not as popualar as the who or Zep, but their in the second level of bands, while bad company/free are a third level.Champipple wrote: Rodgers is in no way bigger in the US than Queen. Since all brian may can do these days is play simple riffs and three-chord whitesnake rip offs, and all Roger can do is play beats so simple even an 8-yr old could emulate them, I suggest they both pack in it and instead act as back-up dancers for the highly successful Paul Rodgers. Picture this bill: 6pm Paul Rodgers + the interpretative dance routines on Roger Taylor and Brian May (formerly of Queen). 7-9pm Puppet show. A surefire winner all the way. |

Oh my God, what a song. According to the text it only can been written by Roger. Typical Roger - socially political song. What is this? There is simply no longer Queen. Queen stood for fun and entertainment and not for direct political Statemants. This song is not convincing. It sounds as if each member for himself mixed the song. No harmony between the individual elements such as this to Fredie Mercury times. |

Of course, they all get played more than John Deacon. On my local classic rock radio station, they only play "Shooting Star" and once in a rare while, they play "Bad Company". They do however play lots of Queen songs. Here's the most common songs played on the classic rock radio station's most common playlist (not including requested songs)... 1. Another One Bites The Dust 2. We Will Rock You followed by We Are The Champions (or We Are The Champions by itself) 3. Bohemian Rhapsody 4. Fat Bottomed Girls 5. Killer Queen 6. Somebody To Love 7. Keep Yourself Alive 8. Crazy Little Thing Called Love 9. Tie Your Mother Down 10. Under Pressure Songs played every once in a while (there might be more, but I don't listen the radio station all day or all night)... 1. The Show Must Go On 2. Radio Ga Ga (They've played this more often in the past couple of years) 3. Need Your Loving Tonight (popular request) 4. Body Language 5. I Want To Break Free (They've played this more often in the past couple of years) 6. Scandal (popular request) 7. Stone Cold Crazy (popular request) 8. It's Late (funny that this song should be a popular request, but they just play it once in a while, the DJ's choice I suppose!) 9. One Vision (They've played this more often in the past couple of years) 10. Play The Game (popular request) The DJ's on the station are funny and a couple years back the commercial on the station to advertise their classic rock station was 'Radio Ga Ga'. And they usually refer to Queen as "Freddie Mercury & The Boys". They really love Queen here. They played 'Your My Best Friend' two times in one day about a week ago, and a couple weekends ago they had a "Queen Hour" which I sadly missed out on, but Jessica told me about it! Luckily I've sat through two of their Queen hours before, in which the DJ talks about the song and gives info about it (he says like a few paragraphs of words), and then he plays it. Good promotion to be honest. They don't do those hour programmes for other bands. Sometimes they do have two for Tuesday, or three block (three songs in a row). During those times, they actually add one or two Queen songs to the ones they all ready played! What a crime! LoL. |
