Is that genuine? link I don't believe it is, but... is it? |

I honestly don't know if that cd is 'real' or not, but the liner photo of Brian in the Frogger t-shirt is pretty funny. it would be interesting to know if any of those photos from the LP sleeve are included with any alleged CDs published. Most of what I've heard and seen is that the cd version is an elaborate bootleg, something about the EMI catalog numbers. |

I have to say that although i was certain this would be a pirate, the disc itself is really convincing. Except - it claims to be "Made in UK" but the centre of the disc clearly says "EMI Uden" which I believe is in Holland. Furthermore I don't think EMI started having "EMI" on their discs for a good couple of years after '83 and when they did they were marked "EMI Swindon". So I'd conclude that it's either a) a pirate made by someone inside EMI's pressing plant. b) real & recently made, which would beg the question - why? |

The very first commercially available CD came out in 1985 so no way is this real. It IS a good mock-up of an early CD design, even down to the blue box on the spine. This is the first I've ever heard of a stand-alone Starfleet CD. Infact, I believe the sleeve notes for "Back To The Light" single state that it's the first time the Starfleet songs have been released on a CD. |

Was it 85? I though it was 1982 and by 1985 there was a first CD that sold million copies (Brothers In Arms)... I myself have an original CD of The Works, so... it wasn't 1985... |

I am 100% sure this is a bootleg. |

Bootlegs contain unofficial material. Since this one contains official material, it's a pirate. And a very convincing one! |

Not 100% sure, but if you put the cdp number into google it certainly returns quite a few hits, some of which look completely legit. It looks to me (and I could be wrong) like a later CD release (mid to late 80's) of the original vinyl album that came out in 1983. I would be "reasonably" happy it's genuine but obviously there's no guarantee that particular one is even if they did press some originals. |

Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE:PHG, AEX:PHI) manufactured the world’s first compact disc at a Philips factory in Langenhagen, just outside of Hanover, Germany. The invention of the CD ushered in a technological revolution in the music industry as CDs – with their superior sound quality and scratch free durability – marked the beginning of the shift from analogue to digital music technology. The CD became a catalyst for further innovation in digital entertainment, helping pave the way for the launch of DVD and the current introduction of Blu-ray optical media. Having played a key role in the innovation of digital music, at home and on the move, consumers continue to witness huge advances in entertainment and lifestyle technologies. |

I have the original Star Fleet on tape, one of the only ones I've kept over the years do to the fact that it was never released on CD. One things for sure the video Brian made for this song will never surface on a Official DVD. Brian probably destroyed all the master tapes, lol I'm sure he has seen to that! |
Fenderek 04.05.2008 10:21 |
ACTUALLY- apparently they are putting together STAR FLEET DVD (show, not Brian's album)- and even though the exact content hasn't been decided yet- it's almost CERTAIN that Brian's video to STAR FLEET WILL BE there as a bonus feature...!!! |

The songs themselves are available on the Japanese Ressurection EP (CD), as well as the two UK "Back To The Light" CD-Singles if I recall correctly (I have the 2nd one I think, which has Blues Breaker on it) |

I don't have any earlier cds than the Queen catalogue (which were released in 1986 I believe), but they didn't feature more than 7 digits of the catalogue number anywhere outside the barcode... This version has all the digits on it, except for the one marking it as a cd version which is curiously missing. I wouldn't pay the price of an empty cd for this pirate/bootleg/whatever version. |

As far as I'm informed it's a Russian Pirate/Counterfeit from around 2002. |

Hi Jeroen! I'm Andreas Voigts (no secret) and you might know me... Is it a comment if I say "no comment" to "The Famous Killers Rhythm Label"? |
Jeroen 11.09.2008 08:07 |
Ah! I did not know you were Andreas! And YES, then no comment will do nicely. ;-) |
