Oh come on. Why are people bitching about this of all things? It's Al's show so what's wrong with getting up there and having some yucks after Q+PR present the new tune? Everyone is always crying about how they don't promote well enough. Then they perform on a number one rated show in the UK and it's still not good enough because they are having some laughs with the host and somehow that's beneath them?? I swear Queen fans will bitch and moan about fucking anything. |

I may make a few enemies here but I dont care...youre a bunch of fucking muppets. Al Murray worships Queen. He has some great acts on his show every week doing Queen covers and yeah, he joins in, but for fucks sake, get a life....its a bit of fun. And I'm sure Brian and Roger love it too otherwise they wouldnt have appeared on both series'. You all need to lighten up. As for 5ive, Robbie ect ect...that was pure shite. One thing Queen have always said, is that they dont take themselves too seriously, hence I Want To Break Free Video. Al Murray is an ideal tool for QPR to showcase C-Lebrity, and yes there is going to be a fun element too, like Al Murray ending up in bed with Brian and Roger the last time they were on..... just wonder if Al will have the balls to tell the band, as he usually does on the show, 'Your no Queen are you! can you come back later and do a Queen song'.... that would be priceless! I am sure the filming of the show is today (Thursday) |
FriedChicken 03.04.2008 05:12 |
It's a COMEDY show, so I guess Mr Murray knows he isn't one of the best singers around. And I'm sure Brian and Roger think so too.. (Although you would never hear Brian say that out loud) If the guys perform on a comedy show, you can be sure it won't be a serious performance. |
Benn 03.04.2008 07:13 |
Brian May's Wig, Thanks for that - some sanity reigns at last. People like that fucking idion Zebonka are simply jealous that someone, other then them, is performing with Brian & Roger. This all goes back to the fact that they also don't like Paul Rodgers singing with Brian & Roger. They somehow have this wild thought in their heads that no one is capable of singing with them other than Freddie. He died - they moved on eventually. Al Murray is incredibly funny and an extremely good bloke to boot. Brian & Roger wouldn't let him perform if (1) they didn't like him or (2) his show or (3) they didn't have sense of fun about them. We can't expect any of the continental Europeans on this board to understand Al's (or his programme's) sense of humor. Let's face it, what is continental Europe's contribution to comedy over the years? Eurotrash? Poirot? Van Der Valk? If you don't like it, don't fucking watch it again. |

What a bunch of pompus twatts. I rather think our foreign members, well, don't 'get it' and never really will - this is British humour don't forget, but my god, shame on the rest of you! I think you really have to understand that one of the greatest aspects of the Queen brand over the years has been the willingness to develop and maintain a multi-facted approach in all it did in it's drive to entertain. Throughout it's career one of Queen's key strenghts was to embrace humour as one spoke of this and to, well let's face it, excel at it over the years. Let's face it, Queen never really took things too seriously (yes when required) and a hell of a lot of what the band did over the years was with tongue firmly in cheek. For example: Naked bicycle race with a fat bottomed girl anyone? Darth Vader/superman on stage Freddie chucking bannanas to the crowd I'm Going Slightly mad 'Those' tour passes 'Those' parties Eeeeeeehhhooo - let's face it, it was amusing! Need I really go on.....? I'm sorry, but appearing on Al Murray to me completely and utterly fits the brand of Queen and those who say it doesn't are sadly wrong! Now, stop being so po faced, sod off, and take your glasses to the bar! |
Brian_Mays_Wig 03.04.2008 10:15 |

Gosh I love some of the knee-jerk responses in this thread... I've seen this dude on TV before, he was bulk funny at the time, but seriously.... what's wrong with thinking this idea sucks? It's not a regional difference in humour. When Brian and Roger were on Australian TV we had a bunch of TV people singing along to Queen and it stank. I don't know it can possibly be any funnier 5 years later... but I'll find out when I watch it, eh. |

I thought it was OK. Certainly not old-school Queen, but it makes me anticipate the new album. I'm still hoping from some Roger or Brian vocals... |
princetom 05.04.2008 01:43 |
Hum... quite a catchy chorus. but someone should forbid roger to use his phaser-vocals (reminds me to his 80s solo stuff). quite a simple song though. a bit boring and missing john's appearance so much (the bass definetly does not rock (who the hell played it ?)!)! seems to be a rodgers/taylor written song as brian's influence seems to be one lousy simple (!) guitar riff. will be fortunate to hear an album release, as 'say it aint true' was a killer for the studio version and also sucked live... :-) i think publishing the song this early (album in half a year!) is a good marketing trick, as i can imagine the chorus to be used by any tv-boulevard-magazine around the world for the catchy chorus (for reports on broken celebrities like mme.spears etc.). imo.: $$$ and (good?) publicity for q+pr. |

It was better then I hoped, this is indeed the combination in which the vocals of Paul Rodgers fit into the music that sounds like Queen. To be honest I'm not impressed bij the Roger parts indeed the phased vocals are misplaced and the lyrics(....see...TV see C-lebrity) hmmmmmmmm. I liked the solo part of Brian and surely liked the end. It made me curious about the new album that for sure |

Hmmm. Dodgy lyrics, saying something about the world today. Must have been written by Roger. I keep saying that Brian should write them and Roger should sing them! As a taster for a forthcoming album it's not a good start for me. It'll bomb in the UK if it ever gets released as a single. I can't even see it as album material. I hate to say it, but it's shit. I've only heard it once and I've already relegated it to the bottom of my playlist below that appaling dirge "She Makes Me". Christ, I hope they don't perform this on tour. |

princetom 05.04.2008 13:36 |
@ Thomas Tønnesen I) imo. the bassline should be more than repetition of the guitar riff. II) the chorus is based on one note. therefore a little groove would be fine. :-) simple as that. sorry. |
Borhap80 05.04.2008 14:03 |
I see your point. But I guess the bass line is deliberately laid that way, to support the structure of the song. I think they want a punching, though easy played bass line during the refrain, but I might be wrong.. Other than that I think it works in my opinion.... Subjective :) |

'effort', 'nice', 'fine'... Excellence can't be described using those adjectives. Considering this song an 'effort' cannot be enough for a band which, back in the days, used to write masterpieces. Efforts are for wannabes not for former masters. |
Boy Thomas Raker 08.04.2008 17:35 |
Absolutely true Vadenuez. Even when they fucked up with Body Language, and to a lesser extent Radio Ga Ga, a new release from Queen was always highly anticipated. Their lead singles from ANATO on were operatic rock, gospel, a cappella vocals with stomping on wood for side A, and side B a rock waltz, a schizophrenic song about bicycles in 4 or 5 different time measures complete with a bicycle bell solo (on an album where the opening track was virtually unintelligible due to the limited English sung), a rockabilly tune as a teaser for the Game that didn't sound like the Queen from the first seven albums, the what-the-fuck and who-the-fuck was that Body Language, finally ending with the sparse techno sounds of Radio Ga Ga. All different, all kind of shocking hearing them as not a lot of rock bands had this type of stuff in their catalogue. By contrast, C-lebrity is a by the numbers major chord rocker which all 3 have done amillion times. It's nice. No one is going OMFG, this is amazing stuff!!! For a teaser for the album, it hardly builds confidence. The lyrics are painful and trite. I fully expect everyone to bow down and love it, but really, and this has nothing to do with Freddie vs. Paul Rodgers, but this song is mediocre at best. |
