Has anyone learned anything from a Queen song (Or solo, or interview) that they wouldn't otherwise know? Two things come to mind: In "Bad Attitude," Roger sings, "...get a grip on my verisimilitude." I would have never known what that word was had I not heard it and looked it up. From Brian's soapbox, I learned what apogee(highest point of something or the point at which the sun is furthest from the Earth) means. And I cannot even begin to recount all the British slang I've learned from them. Anyone else? |

I think Roger & Brian smoked something they shouldn't have when they wrote the lyrics for "Machines" |

I am sure it was mentioned that it means "Eternal Robot" or something like that. |

"Fuck today, it's tomorrow." - Freddie Mercury I can honestly admit I have taken his word for it. Whatever goes wrong today, just try better the following day. A simple yet wise statement. |

I learned if I tried suicide I wouldn't like it. Also that I shouldn't drink and drive my car. Good advice really. |

I learned that it's okay to be in love with my car. I learned that John Deacon's haircut can determine the year of an event easier than carbon dating can. I learned that saying "Fuck off!" to thousands of people can be a form of endearment. |

I had to find what syphilis was. As well as a monochrome duplex. Oh, and I found out that, if you think about it...music's really for the ears. |

Did you ever hear a chord change that you found strikingly beautiful, or quite haunting, and then feel a shiver travel down your spine? Or, in some instances, perhaps the hair on your back stands straight up upon listening to something frightening? Furthermore, as much as music is for the ears, it also acts as a stress reliever mentally. Yes, you listen through your ears, but emotionally it is a powerful tool; hence Music Therapy. Just so you know, I'm not arguing with you. I recall Roger Taylor saying what you said in a television interview in regards to the Radio Ga Ga music video. |

I am a big fan of Roger's ability to make profound statements of the obvious. I'm never too sure whether he wants me to laugh or stroke my chin and go hmmm. Usually I think I do both. I laughed all the way through Shove It for this reason.eiddref wrote: Oh, and I found out that, if you think about it...music's really for the ears.I understand where you're coming from, but I would like to argue that music is not just for the ears but for other senses as well etc..... |

I would not know what "Teo Torriate" meant; or any Japanese for that matter. And I would definitely still be taking life waaayyy too seriously, if I hadn't heard "Don't Try So Hard." I guess everything they taught me is just self-significant. And I love teh "Fuck today, it's tomorrow!" saying. It's brilliant. XD |

There are so many things that I would not know if it were not for Queen. I learn something new all the time. Not only about Queen but other things as well. |
StoneColdClassicQueen 02.04.2008 22:19 |
I actually learned about life through some of the songs. TATDOOL and TSMGO reached out to me when I first listened to them. I found out who Queen was. I also started listening to other bands because of them. I wanted to know who their influences were. The last thing that I learned is that my idol John Deacon DOES NOT look good with that rat's nest he called hair in the 80's. Seriously could've used a comb. They're not expensive!! And a whole mess of other stuff but the list is too long. I also learned that Queen has Stepford fans.. |
