should they play boh rhap in any format on the next tour? yes or no? |
Penetration_Guru 31.03.2008 16:48 |
I agree, they should either play or not play it. |
-adventure seeker- 31.03.2008 16:52 |
hahahaha lol made m gigle, but you know what i mean |
Jjeroen 31.03.2008 17:03 |
Actually, on the first tour I realy hoped they would not play it. (And OF COURSE they did, and they will do it again in september!) But this time I feel I am actually looking forward to it. I dunno. It just all feels a bit different now. |

It would be a grave mistake for them to leave Bohemian Rhapsody out of the set list this upcoming tour. Many people expect it when they come to see them; could you imagine all the people who might be dissapointed? I don't care if they didn't show a video of Freddie singing it though. It might get old after a while. |
Vali 31.03.2008 18:09 |
if they play it, no more Freddie on screen please |

Wish they play it as part of a meddley! No Freddie! (It was great, i cried, but it's enought) |
thunderbolt 31742 31.03.2008 20:49 |
If they want to play it, they'll play it. I imagine they'll want to play it, but I hope they'll do so without Freddie's video going, as that would really ruin the feeling of "this is what we're all about now" that I expect they'll be going for. They may well let Paul do the entire song (although that would admittedly sound weird, I could see it working with his voice if reworked slightly), but I've always wondered what an Innuendo/BoRhap medley would sound like, with Innuendo being performed up until the end of the second verse, with everything from the flamenco guitars on being replaced by the operatic tape, rock section, and closing ballad of BoRhap. |
-adventure seeker- 01.04.2008 04:55 |
yer the inuendo boh rhap meledy has crossed my mind a few times, its seems to fit.... id love to hear paul singing it, i think its right, i read an interview were he said he wanted to. befor the tour last time. id love paul to come trough the floor playing bad co like last time and then do bohrhap with him on the piano? i think that would be nice.. because they would play the video of pauls carear then when he did boh rhap they would do the same for freddie. i think that would be nice, because its still luking to the future and acknowlegein whats hapend with freedie, i duno i like it! any opinions? |

I know this is going to be regarded as blasphemy by some (most?) on this board: Leave the Freddie tributes at home this time around. The last tour was about acknowledging the past and preparing for the future. Freddie was the king of Queen for two decades. It took them a third decade (and then some!) to figure out how to make the band work without him. They seem to have done so to their satisfaction, and now it's time to move on. That means no video retrospective of Freddie's career, no operatic section music video collage, no empty stool and dedication of LOML (since I can't imagine they'd leave LOML off of the setlist). The band said before the last tour even ended that if another one was to happen, it would be to support a new album and show the world what the band is about now, instead of remembering what they were about in the past. Making a big deal out of Freddie's absence seems to undermine that goal. Adventure seeker, please don't take this the wrong way, but if I were Paul Rodgers and I were given the opportunity to sing BoRhap on tour, I would be insulted if there was a video of Freddie behind me as I was doing it. Here I am, trying to tackle the most difficult song in virtually any band's live repertoire, and you're taking all the attention away from my vocals by showing old home movies of the previous lead singer who's been dead for seventeen years? While I know that your heart was in the right place when you made the suggestion, that seems horribly disrespectful to Paul. |

I agree with you Thunderbolt. Its time to leave the Freddie retrospective in the past and move on. I also think that it is time to remove the extra stool during LOML - maybe paul could do vocal duties on that one? |
gnomo 01.04.2008 11:52 |

actualy thunderbolt i completely agree with you, i hadnt seen it from that point of view, it would be disrispectful, hes a great singer. i love paul and would love to hear him sing boh rhap. my apologies to paul, hes my hero as a singer! no disripect ment. |
-adventure seeker- 01.04.2008 13:53 |
on the subject of paul taking vocals id love to hear him do loml, but i dont fink it would happen, brian loves singin that i think. id love paul to sing radio gaga if its goin to be done his voice suites it in a strange way and hes got more presance than roger, and maybe if there guna do tatdool again paul should sing. role on pauls vocals! |

While I know that your heart was in the right place when you made the suggestion, that seems horribly disrespectful to Paul.I don't think is blashemy at all. It's your opinion that matters. I agree with your points about moving on. Think this tour will not be as notalgic as the last and maybe Freddie's legacy will be less obvious this time. Paul singing all of Bo Rhap is OK. They will play it as no Queen show is the same without it! Also, agree with the xtra stool for LOML. This is an album promotion tour as they say so more emphasis on the new tracks. Fans should not be disrespectful of Paul but be honoured that he has agreed to take over the mantel as it were. Many fans never saw Queen in concert at all and maybe are expecting to see the "ghost" of Freddie at these gigs - expecting certain songs to be played which have not or never been performed for years! They will play the usual familiar songs of course with new album tracks thrown in. Ideally, the inclusion of more Paul Rodgers tracks will cement the fact that Paul Rodgers fans turn up for these gigs and that Queen songs don't take precedent. It's a new venture now but people will not let go of the fact that in many peoples eyes Freddie was Queen. This is insulting to Brain & Roger in a way as they were founder members. A critic once said that Queen was Brian & Rogers band but Freddie made them famous and became the star! Maybe hurtful to Freddie's honour but things have to change to reflect the times. |

I really hope they at least move the song to the very front of the set list and not 2/3rds the way through as it has been for years. Maybe they could use it in a similar way to Reaching Out/Tie Your Mother Down. I would love to see some of the more obscure hits/ablum tracks used. It was nice to see "Save Me" on the Montreal DVD for example. Queen have a fantastic variety of musical styles it would be great to see some of them get an airing. My hope is Scandal gets a look in ...odds 66/1 with Paddypower bookmakers!!(joke) |

Hmm, Im going to take a different position to most - whilst I think Paul should sing as much as possible, and would perhaps even be fine with Bo Rap being all him, I still want Freddie, and indeed John to be referenced in these shows, in some way at least. Im not talking giant statues on the side of the stage, or backing tracks even, just something to acknowledge them - they were both an enormous part of why we even have Queen today, and it would be disrespectful to them to treat this as an entirely new venture which owes nothing to them, cos that just isnt true. That said, I hope, provided the new album is good, plenty of new material with Paul makes it into the set. In fact, ideally, I think Brian should dump the guitar solo, or put only an abridged version of it into another song, and they should kick out AKOM, IWTBF, and even Under Pressue, and thereby free up some time in the set for new songs, another carefully chosen Paul number or two, and, just for the sake of being a bit different and pleasing a few more hardcore fans, drop in a 70's number or two - the only real 70's album track I can think of we got last time was Dragon Attack, and that was only in the US. White Queen would be awesome with Paul, and Id love to hear Bri play the way he used to on that. |

Some classics from their earlier albums - drop AKOM their worst song on the last tour and IWTBF, ANBTD, UNDER PREESSURE. Keep IILWMC, and maybe add Tenement Funster. Seven Seas of Rhye is due a shot - will suit Paul! Think they can take more risks with this tour as the first tour was a "test the water". I would like to hear a hardcore fans set with some Rodgers classics as well but as there are now younger fans they may not be as familiar with album tracks and prefer to hear all their greatest hits. |
