So we have a new track being premiered on TV on April... So that probably means this track will be the next single, which will be marketed soon after the TV performance, to cash on it and to avoid the song being downloaded on internet by everyone ? Or do you think that we will have to wait for a single for longer ? Regards, Olivier, France. |

Here's the reason I assumed it was... taken from the BBC website... Queen plot return with new album Paul Rodgers (right) joined the band on tour in 2005 Queen are to release their first studio album for 13 years - and their first without the vocals of Freddie Mercury. The Cosmos Rocks will feature ex-Free singer Paul Rodgers, who has replaced Mercury in the band's live shows. Queen's last album, Made in Heaven, came out in 1995 and featured material written and recorded by Mercury before his death in 1991. The band have also announced a Queen and Paul Rodgers 14-nation European tour, starting in September. It will include UK dates in Nottingham, Glasgow, London, Cardiff, Birmingham and Liverpool. They will also play in Russia, Poland, Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Spain, Hungary, Serbia, the Czech Republic and Austria. Guitarist Brian May, drummer Roger Taylor and Rodgers wrote the new album in late 2007 and early this year. It will be released on 1 September. Bassist John Deacon, who retired from the music business in the late 1990s, will not take part in the tour. |

"The Cosmos Rocks" is the name of the tour. The press release says there is no album title yet. Of course it could be very similar. |

I think this is the kind of question Brian would be happy to answer on his soapbox. He's always keen on clearing up misunderstood things and false rumours about Queen/himself. And if this really is the title... well, in that case the cat is out of the bag. |
john bodega 21.03.2008 01:15 |
Please tell me this is a colossal misunderstanding. They're walking right into a one sentence review here. "The Cosmos Sucks". |
Queenrockyou 21.03.2008 04:27 |
I wonder why they would have called it "Cosmos Rocks Tour" if it was not related to an album called "Cosmos Rocks"... If they have choosen this name, it's not for nothing, as they create artwork for the album, the single, the stage, the tour programmes, passes and so on... All related to words like "Cosmos Rocks". You can't decide that sort of things on the morning and market your album or launch a tour the next day ! So I guess they definitely have decided of the name of the album, and it will be "Cosmos Rocks", just as the name of tour. I wonder who decided that name, who won the toss... I have to admit, that if the Album is called "Cosmos Rocks" it is a bit of a crap title, very cheesy. Can't say I liked the album titles to "Queen Rocks" & "Rock Montreal" or "Queen on Fire" either, but hey!!!! it's only a Title. It's whats on it that counts. |
Fenderek 21.03.2008 21:08 |
You know what's next? After couple of last albums (ROTC, Montreal, On Fire)- I REALLY expect yet another crappy album cover... Seriously- can they do worse? Sure- just look up Brian's Brixton cover... man, it's the same guy responsible... I've seen much better bootleg covers!!! |

Cwazy little thing 22.03.2008 08:28 |
The cover could easily be that picture which is being used to publicise the tour of a nubula or something, which wouldnt be too bad I suppose. I too would prefer just "Cosmos" - as theyve gotten older the guys have slowly developed a slightly cringeworthy cheesyness about themselves sometimes - Throwing words like "rock" into everything seems to be the solution to a lack of originality in naming things. Ah well, it may yet turn out to be called something else - its possible the stores and BBC have just assumed the name from reading the press release. Oh, and of the covers listed above, whilst Montreal didnt really do it for me, I quite like on Fire at the Bowl. |
Serry... 22.03.2008 08:37 |
<b><FONT SIZE=4>inu-liger</b> wrote: It seems Richard Gray has really lost his touch :(I don't think so. It's obvious that Fred had huge input in design of sleeves, scripts of videos (he wrote script of IGSM as an example) etc., and since his death DoRo, Gray and many others "lost their touch". It's not implicit faith in Freddie's genius, but somethingness. |
john bodega 22.03.2008 08:51 |
The Bowl cover was fine. At least it kept the same look as the previous Queen DVDs, as far as fonts and layout goes. I still haven't bought the Montreal DVD because it just looks so fucking out of place. I know that sounds ridiculous but it'd be like having a Danielle Steel novel in my shelf with a Dirk Gently novel hidden in the cover. It'd look wrong; no matter how awesome the book inside may be. |

<b><FONT SIZE=4>inu-liger</b> wrote: Perhaps they should hire Storm Thorgerson. Man, that guy can still create insane cover arts, even 30+ years on.Agreed- I love this guy... I started buying winyls because of his covers... that's ART... I guess ON FIRE wasn't THAT bad- but it wasn'tr brilliant either... But Montreal is absolutely terrible, I could do sth like that in 5 minutes... and I'm crap at those things... ACTUALLY- if you think about it- Brixton Academy was done exactly the same way... And Serry mentioned Freddie's input... My absolutely fav Queen covers are from INNUENDO era- not only album but the singles. It's brilliant. Now THAT'S how you make album look really good. And it was Roger's idea to use Grandville's pictures... |
Serry... 22.03.2008 09:55 |
The magic is not in ideas sometimes, magic is in WHO picks the right ideas :) It wasn't Fred who wrote AOBTD, but it was him who forced John to write more songs for Queen albums. Now we have more Brian-ish Queen... Except Another World cover, all his solo covers are ugly (maybe he doesn't care about them a lot) and then look at Happiness? or Blue Rock covers for comparison. So I agree about Roger's taste, wasn't it him who also came with ideas for Jazz and NOTW? While Brian was mentioned only as co-author of debut album sleeve. The worst ever Queen's cover also was on the single with Brian's song, by the way: link I prefer him to write messages for CD booklets, than to pick photos for his releases... |

Brian is really into Sci-fi. 2. He just finished earning a degree in the Astronomy field 3. He just wrote a book detailing how the universe may have started. 4.
