Although I think that each of these fan songs dserve an individual announcement I don't want to clog the forum with fan cover threads but on the other hand I want to post them. So, it's not disrespect to announce 2 songs in the same thread - it's just a compromise.
Dan McCord: Who Wants To Live Forever
Matt Hutchison: The Millionaire Waltz
Enjoy:)
I like the WWTFL version. Dan does it really good.
However, being an acoustic arrangement, he should try singing it again to sound like as if David Gilmour (of Pink Floyd) were interpreting it as his own (meaning, getting rid of the Freddie-ish vibratos, and singing it more gently).
Dan does have some Gilmour-like tones, so I don't think it would be impossible for him to do, if he were up to it :)
Also, for some reason, the end of this version is cut.
Can you fix this?
WWTLF - Very nice different version in acoustic form. I like it, especially the piano. Just two things, 1, a second acoustic (overdub) comes in and is a little too prominent. Very small issue! 2, there's something in the low end that sounds a bit wool-y. The acoustic and piano crossed a few times, so I was unsure.
Mil.Waltz - Excellent sounding cover. Few ideas to make it shine more. The bass had some mud in it, so a bit of reduction in the lower mids would clear that up well. Good bass playing, btw.
I'd probably add a little more sheen to the backing vocals. The solo guitar comes in a bit high during the middle, but once the "come back..." starts, it begins to settle down nicely. The drums that came in were very boomy sounding. Just need a little taming with some EQ.
Apart from that, a wonderful cover to listen to.
And finally...damn you Dan for getting your WWTLF cover in before me!!
Adam.
EDIT: Inu's right, WWTLF does cut off on the outro.
Many thanks! Adam, I agree with your suggestions. I will use that to adjust my initial (headphones mixed) mixing. Your ears are correct.I'll give it a try for my file from August 2006 mix. Thanks muchly :)
