Great cover! Again, this is what I like to hear. Not that it's a different version, but that it's well thought out. Great string and piano sounds. Very real sounding. I'm envious of such a sound because all my virtual instruments sound just like...virtual instruments!
Ok, now the bad. The only downer would be the vocal being distorted. If it hadn't, that would've made it an absolute stunner. But when it distorts, my heart sinks. That and, you can hear when he's not singing other noises. A little distracting.
Truly a great cover. Ah...refreshing!!
Adam.
This fan cover is very hard to give my opinion about.
I really really really like the musical arrangement and the sound of the instruments and how they are played. Really beautiful!!
BUT
I absolutely do not not not like the vocals, especially the first verse. I am not an expert on musical singing technics (although I am a musician myself), but it sounds to me that there is something wrong there. Ans also the way how all words are pronounced is absolutely distracting for me.
A pity, because without the vocals it is really very very beautiful.
Sorry if I offended the singer of this song, but it's my opinion.
It's got some nice ideas, and is quite nicely arranged, but overall I think this comes across as slightly 'half-baked'. The strings threaten to be gorgeous, but never really do enough to warrant their inclusion in the arrangement. It seems that they should have been utilised more, or even not at all.
And as Jeroen says, indirectly, it's always gonna be slightly jarring when a foreigner with less than perfect prenunciation sings in English. It's unfortunate, but that's the way it is.
Recommendations from me:
- Make sure the vocals are less distorted/recorded at lower volume
- Expand on the string arrangement (for it is good, what there is of it), and variation to the arrangement in general.
- Try and improve the English accent/pronunciation.
That said, I quite liked it, all in all.
Pretty good.
I guess all those people saying it's rubbish are people who can't accept people other than Freddie singing the song. And those are also the people who don't like Queen & Paul Rodgers.
Maybe all the 'nay-sayers' could perhaps post up a song of their doing??? I understand that the accents etc and the arrangement/interpretation is different to what we all know but c'mon? Maybe try to see outside the standard box a little? To say it was crap IS wrong. After all....All the stuff you are hearing is made by the poster...So a good achievement in itself don't you think?
Sometimes we do have to forget the original and look at the creative element???

Dude, that is a shoddy thing to say. That's like someone going to an art show, looking at a painting and saying it's crap - then someone who likes it says, "bet you can't do any better"! What a futile argument. You don't have to be an artist to like/dislike something.
Adam.
Shoddy...?
Perhaps slightly......
Thing is 'dude' people are so quick to pull things to pieces on forums. That is a good thing I know but sometimes reading posts is quite funny. Your art comparison has its valid points but I seriously believe that the 'quick-to-slate' posters have this almost blinkered mentality/mindset?? Now I DON'T condone ego-wanking competition (I'll leave that for the majority of guitarists...;) My remark was simply for people to maybe understand the work put in to someones creativity??
I have been reading on a few Queen-type forums and people literally shit blood if anyone dare remark on something that isn't totally pro Queen etc...like a personal insult. This place is a little refreshing that it does allow us to be negative about 4 blokes who made great music.
Well, when people post song stuff up the comments are slighlty personal....do you not agree to a point?(No doubt I feel you won't-might be intuition??) Constructive criticism IS the way to go.

What rubbish you've just sprouted, if i had thought it was a good version, i would have said so, its got nothing to do with Freddie or Paul Rodgers. The guy singing this version can't sing, period.
Hi!
I'm Ivan, the "singer" of the cover.
Your comments made me sad...
I'm italian, i think i should study english maybe, but i don't think my voice is so orrible! What's the problem Mr. Cool Cat? My eglish or my voice??? Don't you like my "falsetto"? Please, you just said that it is the wrong cover of this website, you didn't say why.
I will ask yourvalentine to cancel it.
Maybe english people are too sophisticated for me...
I'm really sad.
The bottomline is: the voice is good. Can it be better? Yes. But it's not bad at all.
And the arrangement is great IMO.
Regarding the language: again, it can be improved (and should), but the singer's on a good path for the moment.
