You can tell when your band is making money, or you can tell when a band you like is making money, they get some and want more, Foo's are now sueing link over songs played in a TV show.
Some how I have the feeling that if this was the Foo's when say big me came out and was played in the same sense, it would be ok... But not when they rip of your music from one of your biggest seling albums..
Dave, Dave,,,, well I talked about it.
Its not the Foos suing them but the record company. If you read what it says in the link you will see the bit where it says "The suit was filed on behalf of Roswell Records Inc., which owns the master recordings, and also names Wolverine and the X-Men producers, First Serve International, Toonz Animation India and First Serve Toonz as defendants."
Even if it was the Foos doing the suing, then that would be fine by me (no pun intended). At least they are taking the big guys to court.
Wait... how is this a bad thing on the Foo Fighters' end? However much money they have or will have makes no difference if the songs weren't used with the proper permission.
Their music was used without permission to promote someone else's product (someone - Marvel - which has been quick to sue others when *their* product was used without permission). Darn them for protecting their rights.
And I'm guessing that Roswell Records is owned by the Foo Fighters/Dave. Can't find confirmation, but considering the link between the names "Rosewell" and "Foo Fighters" and how they both concern UFOs, I'm thinking it's not coincidence.

If DFS had used "I Want It All" for their current adverts without the consent of Queen/EMI/whoever, then they would have action taken against them too.
It's no different.
