Good, then stick to composition. You're much more modest in that area. Keep 'em coming. I'd actually like to hear a few more things you've written, if you don't mind sharing them. |
Yara 07.02.2008 00:12 |
Not comparing my experience to what you feel, you seem to be a quite experienced musician, but sometimes I do feel something similar, but it's closely linked, at least to me, not to the instrument itself, but to the lack of creativity, imagination and, frankly, the slow pace at which I make my progress after a lot of hard work and study. In the end of the day, however, I feel happy and I think it's worth the effort. Now, I love singing and playing the piano in the sense that I really have an attachment for both "instruments". I don't know, you seem to have gotten (!? Quite risky construction here lol) tired of the instrument itself, dunno. SirGH tells us you fare quite well in composition. So, yeah, maybe that's your thing. It could be even that through composition you happen to find an instrument which suits you better, I don't know. Sorry if my remarks sound too idiotic to you. I hope I can help a little tiny bit at least. If I don't, I wish you the best in whatever the direction you follow. Take care. |

maybe youre in a slump? i had a time where i couldnt compose anything for 6 months, even if i wanted to. then once i got it back, i was writing songs like woah haha. in a way its kind of a relief. my brain rarely shuts up for a while, so when it does, its a relief. i dunno, is there a reason you dont want to play? could that be it? |
john bodega 07.02.2008 04:18 |
I stopped playing the guitar and started drinking a few months ago, bloody regretted it - but that's depression for you. I came back in a flurry and played better than ever a little while later. Whether you ever plan to 'bounce back' is up to you, but the point is - it's always possible. |

<font color=666600><b>Music Man wrote:I composed mostly of those parts on guitar, except the piano of course. And recorded them via MIDI. That's how I write my pieces.linkI just listened to this, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. It's not what I was expecting at all, to be honest. I'm interested in knowing how it was recorded/produced? Then, Juan Manuel, a good friend of mine helped me coverting MIDI into whatever it is that sounds on the audio file. I don't know what it is or what he does but he's done a very good work and I was very pleased when I listened to it. After a few tests, we managed to make it sound more "natural" if you will and I could finally balance the volume values. Even tho it's not perfect, it's infinitely better than MIDI sound. It's closer to my idea of how the piece should sound. And we were trying to convert the other parts of the suite but we had some kind of weird problem with the third movement... when we fix that, I guess we'll finish the other movements. And I'll upload them, if you want. BTW, what were you expecting? |
