Excuse my naivety here folks but I have just dowloaded my first Queen gig using Torrent. (Imagine my excitement when this morning I found it had finished!) Can anyone please tell me what software I now need to play these files with a .flac extension and where I can get this software from?
Bill
Thanks for the suggestion. I did download the file using bittorrent but, as you suggested, I tried "mu"torrent (which seemed to behave as bittorrent did) but still couldn't get any further. I just don't know how to "click the play button". If I try and click on the track it says "invalid torrent file" or "not enough storage is available..."
Flac is Free Lossless Audio Codec. You certainly know other audio codec like mp3, wma...
The interesting thing with this codec is that it is lossless, so you don't lose any information during the compression and the quality is like the source before the compression. (OK free is also an interesting thing...)
APE and SHN are two others lossless codec.
That's for the story, for listening flac files, you often have to add a plugin to your media player.
But the last version of Winamp (link includes a flac codec, VLC media player plays flac too...
I hope this could help you
You can also download flac frontend - a free and easy-to use encoder. With Flac Frontend you can convert the flac files to .wav and burn them on an audio CD.
Or download VuPlayer, a small and smart audio player - link
If I can add to the naive questions. When you convert a flac to wave and then burn it to a disc, how can you avoid the spaces in between tracks? It doesn't help a live show when there is a 2-3 second gap between songs. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Which sofware do you use to burn CDs ? At least Nero has some switch where you can turn the gaps off

If you have a newer Nero version, you can activate the "no pause between tracks" function right next to the "add files" window. On older versions you can highlight the added files, right click and choose "properties" where you can set the pause to 0 secs.
I always want to have my concerts on audio CDs, so I can play them everywhere.

I think that has to do with what you are using to burn with (unless of coarse the torrent you DLed was made with them, but usually not). I sometimes use Realplayer or Recordnow to burn cds, where you can set the record speed and there should be options in both to remove or add 2 second gaps. I dont know if there is a version of Recordnow still out (more then likely there is) but you can find realplayer and DL that.

That usually has to do with the burning software unless the torrent was made as such (but usually not). I use Realplayer and Recordnow to burn cds sometimes. I know you can find a free Realplayer on the net, not sure about Recordnow anymore, but its probably out there too. With these programs you should be able to find options to remove or add those gaps and change your burning speeds and such.

I love Queen too, but in this case i feel humble :-)
I think that until now, i´ve only burned to CD the Sao Paulo show. There are other´s waiting to be burned, but it´s just the radio broadcasts or some excellent bootleg. I don´t have space for more 400 CD´s :-)
Take care
