Thanks. This is really a good 'Instrumental mix' from the 24-track master shared in the general thread by Mr. Poop. For computer numpties like me who are not that confident - or do not own the software to create this sort of stuff, it does breath into these individual tracks a fresh, new lease of life. So what else is there to follow? An Acapella version, 12" Extended version, Freddie Mercury & Louis Clark Classical version, Freddie Mercury & Stephen Lloyd Guitar Accolade version, Full 5.1 DTS remix version... I guess that the possibilites are now endless. |

This is awesome, thank you so much! I was planning on trying something like this too, but you were faster (and probably than I would have done)... Is it possible to mixdown a completely instrumental version too, without the backing vocals? |

Some nice versions there Mr. Inu - thanks. Now for the oddest request of all - the 'Non-Brian May version'. It is common knowledge that during the recording of the 'Sheer Heart Attack' album sessions - Brian May was hospitalised due to hepatitis contracted from a dirty needle during a routine inoculation. (Indeed this infection almost cost him the price of his arm). Much of the album had to be recorded without him, so in some tracks, like 'Misfire', John Deacon was promoted to chief (in fact only) guitarist. Other tracks, like the Mercury penned 'Killer Queen' were completed without him, so Brian had to add the guitar overdubs to the track after his recovery from illness. The Brian May tracks (She Makes Me, Dear Friends, Brighton Rock, Now I'm Here and the fully collaborative 'Stone Cold Crazy') were all added later in the session. Therefore, how did the 'completed Killer Queen' sound before Brian's contribution - as this would this have been the (most likely) version he listened to through his headphones as he worked out his guitar parts. |

'Guitar Hero' Mix * (aka the Brian-less version, requested by Mr. Stuart) link link (MP3) link link (FLAC) Also updated the subject title to reflect the other remixes beyond the initial karaoke mix :) * Because you *know* you want to be a guitar hero like Mr. Brian May xD |

I like how these 'out-fakes' help me appreciate how the song developed. It is easy to imagine a Freddie 'piano demo' being worked on by the rest of the band. I was also surprised at how complete the track sounded without Brian's guitar - but appreciate his contribution even more. Even deconstucted tracks contain some hidden gems. |

Valencia does a lllllleeeeeegaaaaaatooooo version of this song, I was listening to it the other day while trying not to lose control of my car in a blizzard. Made me feel like I was driving in slow motion. It also seemed like he was playing up the intricacies of the song -- "look folks, it's so damned hard to cover this perfectly, I'm going to have to play it at half speed." Listening to its components now, I know exactly what he was going for -- this thing is beautiful. I'm trying to think how to work this into the podcast without becoming repetitive -- I have an idea of my own, and I'll definitely try to represent everyone's efforts (thanks, Outu-Tigon.) Remix compos usually don't work like you plan 'em, so I think it's best to let this happen naturally...any suggestions? |

has anybody ever thought of cleaning up and speed correct the KYWB-version of KQ (brian's innuendo-us-radio-tour-impromptu)and equalize the overdubbed guitarparts so they could be added to the 24track-master ? just an idea. |

Bit of a request for you, inu-liger...a "live mix." Basically the way they played it in their medleys--the entire song up to the guitar solo, and the final note of the guitar solo hangs to segue into another song (or, in this case, a gradual ending fade). Definitely would be cool to hear that in studio form--right now, it's purely my imagination at work, as Freddie starts singing and other instruments come in quickly around that two-minute mark. |

But it will have to wait a while as I am very busy with other musical work (my band), and I haven't even completed the other remix I'm working on of KQ with my band mate yet, let alone the 5.1 mix. :) |

It's a good idea though, but the quality of the recording available is really poor compared to the studio version, as far as I can recall. (No FLAC's are up of it even?) |

Just a reminder though, this can be only used with Adobe Audition 1.5 and above, and to have it locate the files (I did not change any file names, so there should not be a problem). Feel free to tweak it and upload any updated AA session files. link link |
