Queen Vienna, Austria Stadthalle July 21, 1986 As promised, here is the master transfer of the first night in Vienna '86. Along with the following night, it's among the top ten live recordings of Queen. The sound quality is simply excellent. The audience sings Happy Birthday to Brian before Love Of My Life, prompting him to say, "I like birthdays!" The performance is definitely an energetic one overall, as Queen surely loved playing in Austria. Sorry about the strange track dividing! I didn't want to add a CDR gen and/or any SBEs, so I decided to leave it alone. Lineage: AUD > Master > CDR (x) > WAV > FLAC frontend (level 8) Disc 1: 1. One Vision (intro) 2. One Vision 3. Tie Your Mother Down 4. In The Lap Of The Gods...Revisited 5. Seven Seas Of Rhye 6. A Kind Of Magic 7. Under Pressure 8. Another One Bites The Dust 9. Just flippin' awesome - thanks so much for this - it rocks! I keep forgetting that Queen played these indoor shows on the Magic Tour & you can definitely hear that this show is indoors. When I think of the Magic tour I always seem to think of big outdoor stadiums & gigs, like Wembley, Knebworth, Budapest. |

Of course, this recording is so brilliant that even if it would have been an average performance, it would still have been amazing:-) |

Many, many thanks, Sir GH. I don't know when I'll be able to download the whole concert, but thank you. And thank you all for the comments, it must be a great show. I think I listened just to a few songs from this concert. You know, I'm in an awkward situation - I'm writing from a hospital, I have undergone a surgery this morning lol - but is this the concert Freddie forgets the lyrics of Radio Ga Ga? I can't remember that without laughing out loud, it's really damn funny, I shouldn't be writing about this now because if I laugh, my body aches. I can't laugh, stop. But it's a huge fun because he forgets the lyrics but he goes on singing the melody as if nothing particularly exceptional had happened! lol I'm laughing again. Damn. Freddie is such a great fun and has been such a teacher for me. I'm looking forward to listen to this one. I hope Brian is as on fire as he's in the concert at Wembley, 86 - his timing, his chords and his solo in "In the laps of gods revisited" are so beautiful. Well, bye all! Thanks Sir GH again for this great upload! |

The master recordings of Vienna 1986...stunning! On some parts I sometimes think that it sounds like an official release! :-) |
Bobby_brown 22.01.2008 15:58 |
I think that it´s the first time i hear Freddie singing Radio GAGA almost like the studio version. Usually he doesn´t hit Roger pitch during the pre chorus, but in here it´s almost as great as Live aid. Does anybody have "I want to break free" from this show - other source? I´m really curious to see how Freddie nailed that one. Great stuff! And Brian is excellent too! All the band is excellent, and considering this is an audience recording, their live sound was very well balanced. This must be one of the best audience recordings of Freddie along with some Japan shows. Great share. Take care |
pittrek 22.01.2008 16:06 |
Audience recording ? Isn't this the radio broadcast ? But an radio broadcast DOES exist, right ? I don't like being confused :-) |

Bobby_brown wrote: I think that it´s the first time i hear Freddie singing Radio GAGA almost like the studio version. Usually he doesn´t hit Roger pitch during the pre chorus, but in here it´s almost as great as Live aid.Cheers from the hospital! lol The only thing I remember about Radio Ga-Ga in this bootleg is that Freddie forgot the lyrics and kept on singing the melody as if nothing had happened, and I'm laughing again, I can't help it, that was really fun. Bobby_Brown, people are sharing "Done Under Pressure". Well, if you like the pre-chorus (I think what you call pre-chorus is in fact part of the chorus itself), they do it beautifully there: there's a conservative, lower register approach to the first [pre]chorus and, in the second, wow, there's a stunning progression and Roger Taylor hits the nail, an absolutely dramatic F4 and, though it may not be that clear, Freddie is there with him in "[fin]nest'our". Roger goes really high there and Freddie is not affraid: we don't listen to Freddie's timbre all that clearly but he adds substance to what Taylor is singing, for sure. It's usual in singing: one voice wraps up the other, so to say, and becomes stronger. I talked about that in the post about "Done Under Pressure", uploaded recently. There's a sense of increasing drama they manage to put into Radio Ga-Ga that, frankly, for me, it was really new, quickly thought and improvised stuff. And it sounded very good. The song seemed more thoughtful, dramatic and structured there. I really remember enjoying that version, but, again, it's all memory, I don't use to buy or download that much and the stuff I here usually stays in the back of my mind. But if you like the pre-chorus, I think the sense of progression they added to it by going higher in the register in the second pre-chorus really makes the song sound more dramatic and strong. I liked it. You probably know it already, so, I'm just writing. lol I want to get out of this hospital. The thing about hospitals is that it's boring. Before the surgery there's all that tension and stuff, but afterwards...man, what a bore. Do they allow people to listen to Queen in hospitals? I don't think so. Bye!!!! The |

Nummer2 23.01.2008 04:20 |
At first: Get well soon, Yara! At least ou have internet access in hospital. My thoughts about the concert: The sound is fantastic, no doubt. It really sounds like a radio broadcast, well-mixed, but somehow smooth/flat (don't know how to explain, not quite as exciting as a perfect audience recording and not as dry as a soundboard). No criticism intended, just tried to describe it. Freddie's voice is ... please don't hit me ... okay. He has problems with the higher notes, he forces his voice to reach them and sometimes they are not very clear and exact. Sure there were worse nights. But in 1982 he mostly sung more effortless. But anyway, it's fantastic how he still creates such dramatic, powerful music even with his "1986 voice"! And yes, the band plays very well, and the audience is great. Everything you need for a fantastic show is there. But: What I really dislike is the track order. The song choice is okay, that of course depends on personal taste, but they fail to create a dramatic line with their song order. They give it away with playing "ITLOTG" that early and generally the "vintage medley" comes much too early in the setlist. And why in hell they didn't play CLTCL after the R'n'R covers? And why for gods sake did they tear apart the unsurpassed WWRY+WATC pair? I'm sure I would appreciate the Magic tour shows much more if the song order was different. |

Two different people have the same account? Or are they bipolar or something? |
Hangman_96 26.04.2011 07:44 |
Nope, there are two different people with two different accounts... "two different accounts" are the most important words from what I've just said. Yesterday one guy said that this Goodoldfashionedloverboy has a space before the first letter 'G' while the deleted one didn't have it and his nickname started just from letter 'G'. It says that names of both Loverboys are a bit different and so it's hard to notice. This fake has created his account to make a fool of the real guy who's being deleted at the moment and I can't understand what a reason for it. Why fake hasn't still been deleted then? Why did they delete the real guy? There's something unknown at this point. |
emrabt 26.04.2011 10:23 |
Why did they delete the real guy ======================== 1)Causing arguments 2)repeated postings 3) swearing at other posters 4)homophobia 5) hate of other cultures 6)hate of other races 7) constant and repeated PMing people, normally with gibberish 8) sending death threats. 9) requesting official stuff 10)posting official stuff 11)Being very abusive to other members 12) was completely rude to all other posters. That's why goodoldfashionedloverboy was deleted, he broke the rules, did what's called "trolling" and "spamming" hope this clears things up. This "other" goodoldfashionedloverboy account, or Evil twin attention seeking thing(?), hasn't done that, so it's still here. maybe the name "goodoldfashionedloverboy" is cursed and infects other posters like a werewolf, so he will never die, or maybe not. |
