I know this is weird, but I just have to know..If there is a fire and you had to save as many albums as you could from your music collection before it is too late, what would they be?
The ones I would save are:
Queen
Queen-II
Sheer Heart Attack
A Day At The Races
A Night At The Opera
Queen-The Platinum Collection
Are You Experienced?
Deepest Purple: The Very Best of Deep Purple
The Rolling Stones:40 Licks
Exile on Main Street
I have a total of 23 albums in my music collection right now.. :)
Hypothetically, if my house were to catch fire, albums would be the least of my worries. If I were to grab anything I would take a pile of old photos, and perhaps the baby book my mum wrote about me, detailing all my first words and that.
If it were close by, I'd possibly take my autographed Robots In Disguise "The Sex Has Made Me Stupid" single, but I wouldn't go looking for it.
FUCK THE ALBUMS!
Unless they're highly valuable collector items, putting yourself under risk for something that can be bought again for $10 is dumb.
The only music related things I'd risk myself by saving from a fire are my Innuendo (The Single) poster, and one poster autographed by Smashing Pumpkins and the other by Muse.
I was getting worried that you wouldn't save the Muse poster!!!!!
I would save this:
1.- The White Album which was a gift from Tijn
2.- Black Holes & Revelations which was a gift from Danny
3.- The Beatles Anthology DVD collection which was damn expensive xD

Animals next.
Family videos and photes after that.
I wouldn't save any albums.
spot on Janet! and it's taken me the last year or so to realise something almost identical. there aren't many things worthy of rescue from a fire (real or emotional). family are.
music is nice, sometimes it's f*cking sublime and incredible, but it's not life. music is merely the wallpaper that surrounds our lives.
I seriously couldn't give two shits if all of my albums burn in a fire.
That's what mp3 players were made for.

WELL, my house was burned down once before. My mom, my grandmother, and I ran out the door as quickly as possible to escape before the fireball would kill us. Then, my mom went back inside the house to save our Chihuahua (all the other animals were outside the house). About four days later (when the police let us return to our house), we went back and rescued the clothes and furniture that hadn't been burnt. Inside the furniture were most of my CDs. So, most of my albums were saved from the fire.
i'd like to change my comment slightly...
there are some albums i would save from a fire...a couple of led zep albums, the entire genesis collection, a couple of Asia and Toto albums...and almost anything by Nirvana and Bob Dylan...
i would then take the whole lot ...and smash them to fucking smithereens!!!! ;-)
well, sleeping very soundly on a Saturday morning, I'd run out with my fully loaded mp3 player, and thank heavens the firemen are between me & Hot Space

I wouldn't save albums either...
First the presents and cards from Jessica, then the guitar, then my PC, then, IF NOT TOO RISKY, my guitar amp, then I'd help save my family. ;P
My MP3 cos it has all my cd's on it plus its always near me all the time. I'd claim my cd's on the house insurance then buy different ones to add to my MP3 :P
