I've been looking for some information about this song for some time now, but just can't find anything.
My Dutch single version of Flick starts a whole piano part earlier. (higher up) Where as the rest of my Killer Queen singles all have a shorter Flick intro.
My question... what happened?
(ask for an upload)
The reason for it starting on a higher key was because on the "Sheer Heart Attack" album, the tracks Tenement Funster,Flick Of The Wrist and Lily Of The Valley all run into one another.Upon making the single Queen's Dutch record company must just have started the record early.
No, the single version of Flick of the Wrist is an unique stand-alone version, starting with just the piano intro - the ending of Tenement Funster has been mixed out. Same goes for the single versions of Tenement Funster and Lily of the Valley. Though I believe the UK 1988 3" CD-singles featured some different mixes, some of which are just fade-out/in versions of the albumversions.
The piano-intro versions I've heard ruin the whole idea of having the end of 'Tenement' mixed out because they miss the first bit of piano and start on the 2nd.. I dunno, bar or whatever. Still some guitar would have been heard if they weren't done right though.
Maybe this poster is saying the Dutch version has the entire piano intro?
...And then there's the ending too. The proper stand-alone version ends with nothing but guitar audible whilst others simply fade.

Yep, yet it actually doesn't have the complete piano intro. It starts on the 2nd whatever :)
Here's the album version intro followed by the UK single version back to back. The UK version starts 6 seconds into the intro. What I'm saying is that if they had a clean version of the piano, why not include the full intro? Maybe this original poster was saying that their version in fact does have ALL of the isolated piano intro. link
Thank you Dane! I had a feeling that's how it was gonna be. So that's a full-length stand alone version unlike the rest :) Very nice!
I guess there's no explanation for the UK version being shortened an extra 6 seconds in the intro. Weird.
