Hi. Welcome to Queenzone. I'm Mab Meddows Mercury.
Well, I started out with A Night at the Opera then Queen II...
Then, I'd try the rest in this order:
News of the World
A Day At The Races
Sheer Heart Attack
The Game... and so on.
You won't be disappointed. :D
Happy Holidays. :)
Welcome to the cult! I say you can't go wrong starting from the beginning :) But if you wanted to mix it up, I guess an idea would be to look at where the tracks came from on your hits albums and maybe start with the albums that correspond to what you like best.
There's variety on all of the albums, but there's also a general feel for what they sounded like at a certain time.
For example, if you like "Don't Stop Me Now", you might enjoy the Jazz album because a lot of it is in a similar upbeat, kinda loud and peppy tone.
I hope some of that made sense ;)
Hey Rita! Glad to have you on board! :)
Which Queen albums you begin to listen to first depends on what style of music you like..If you love songs like Bohemian Rhapsody, then I suggest you listen to albums like A Night At The Opera, Queen-I, Queen-II and A Day At The Races.
But if you love stuff like Anotherone Bites The Dust and Crazy Little Thing Called Love, then go listen to albums like The Game and The Works. If you are really one curious new Queen fan on the block, eager to "get in" to their music, then I suggest you listen to every album they ever made in chronological order of course. Trust me, you won't regret it! Cheers! :)
Hi Rita_89.
Welcome to the forum.I am the tailor of Roger Meadow, hence my name.I followed Queen since i first saw them as a support band to a group called Mott The Hoople in 74.At that time they were bringing out their 2nd album Queen 2 so i ended up getting their first album ( Queen ) and second album virtually at the same time.
I can tell by what you're saying that you love the span of music they provide ( by loving Queen's greatest hits 1+2 ).Pick any album. You will not be disappointed.Merry Christmas to you friend and have lotsa fun.
I started listening to Queen when a friend at school gave me a tape for a school trip, it had queen2 and hot space, Ive never looked back, everytime i listen to Queen, it blows my mind, jazz is my favourite, so i suggest you listen to that next.
I started with A Kind of Magic, which is a fun one with a mix of genres, and if you like Highlander all the better. However, this is unlikley, so I suggest that you start in chronological order as has been suggested, but in truth it doesnt matter what order you go in, your bound to love it. They made tons of great music.
Enjoy the experience, it's great exploring Queen...

I somehow started listening to QUEEN when I was 10 months old.
I was born January 75 and when my Dad first heard BoRap, he bought the first 4 albums all at once so beginning october 75 I was surrounded by QUEEN and could not stop listening till today.
Sometimes when listening to the songs I kinda remember what I understood from the lyrics when I didn't know any English. It's odd... just like misheard lyrics, but it's fun to remember.
My favourite album has to be SHEER HEART ATTACK. All those different styles mixed in one single album and no fillers at all.
Rogers look on the cover scared the shit out of me when I was a kid but there's something magic to this album.
Basically I prefer any album from the 70s era to the "newer" stuff.

I just bought the albums when I saw them cos some of them were really hard to get hold of. The 1st Album cost me under £5 so look out for bargins as well.
Hey, welcome to the world of Queen!
To be honest, ther really is no set order in which to buy the albums. This is the order that i bought them in:
The works
Sheer heart attack
a kind of magic
the miracle
Night at the opera
news of the world
hot space
day at the races
jazz
queen II
queen
flash gordon
made in heaven
so as you can see, i sorta went all over the place. just buy the album with the songs that are most familiar. Thats what i did. i got the works because i loved the song I want to break free. and then i got sheer heart attack because i liked the cover picture. and so on.
So just follow your instinct.
Lots of luv,
Caitlin
Hi Queen zoners! A Belated Merry Christmas! :) Thank you soooo much for all your suggestions! You guys are great!:) :) I got "A Night At The Opera" and "A Day At The Races" CDs for christmas...I love it! I can't stop listening to it! :)
Hey, welcome and glad you're enjoying the cd's you got for Christmas :)
My recommendation would be to listen to all their cd's in chronological order (as suggested above) :)
Belated Merry Christmas, and hapy new year
I think the best Queen-albums take a long while to get to know, so it's hard to start with them.
Some albums which also are very good, and a lot easier to like right away are:
The Game, The Miracle and The Works.
But the best albums are the 5 first in my opinion...
ENJOY!
