The new Dr Who - the new incarnation of the BBC series that began a few years ago in the UK - is it being shown anywhere in the US and how is it being received?
IMO it's among the best British TV of the last 20 years. Relies a little too much on horror rather than science fiction, but that's a minor gripe. And both recent doctors have been great, certainly a major upgrade on Sylvester McCoy!
I didn't even know that Dr Who was shown in the U.S.
So many of us have turned to the internet as our source of entertainment since the writers strike. TV has been plagues with a lot more reality TV crap ever since.

It's shown first on Sci-fi and then BBC America at a later date (yes, I know that makes little sense).
My boss loves it, as does my nephew. I would say that it is growing in popularity here, but it is not huge like in the UK.
My local PBS station is showing episodes, though it's the Eccleston-Who and not the new Tennant-Who as of yet. If I had to guess, I'd say Dr. Who is more popular here than he has been in a long time especially since DVD sales seem to be going well, though it has a long way to go to reach the nerd quotient of Stargate, much less Star Trek.
Brian May would make a good Dr Who. He wouldn't even need make up and props. I mean, clogs and rainbow coloured waist coats -- you can't buy that authenticity. Plus he knows all about Uranus already. Also, his hair is caught in a 1970s time warp, so there's already a plot there to beat the writers' strike.
So Brian May and his busty assistant Pamela Anderson it is then, busting a cap in some alien ass.

The blonde, she is awesome, I'd totally hit that, really nothing I would'nt do to her.
I do like the Robin hood show and Kitchen nightmares, chef Ramsey is awesome.

That's Billie Piper. In a certain light she is alright I suppose. But she's a bit brutal up close. And she's from Swindon, which is, I'm told, the scallie* capitol of England.
Interesting comments from by good old US of A chums. Iwas hoping it would be on somehere apart from BBC America so it's good it's on the SciFi Channel, which I watched a lot when I was err.. "Stateside" (does that make me sound windswept and interesting? No, thought not..). Still, I'm a little surprised Dr Who hasn't done better. It is, after all, much better than the last two incarnations of Star Trek and it beats Stargate hands down. In fact the only recent American SF series I can think of that is better is the sadly cancelled Threshold (why didn't Americans like that? Is it a midget sex thang?)
*Sorry if that is lost in translation. I could've used Chav, Steek, Spide, Ratboy, Kappa Slapper, or my favourite Northern Ireland-ism -- millie. I think trailer trash is probably the closest Americanism.
