I guess you all know the famous QTV DVDs. The people behind this "company" have released a bunch of great looking videos, like Hammersmith Odeon, London, UK, 24. December 1975 Hyde Park, London, UK, 18. September, 1976 Pavillon De Paris, Paris, France 28. February / 1. March 1979 Velez Sarfield, Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1. March 1981 Who are the people behind this label ? What does actualy QTV stand for ? What other QTV videos do exist ? |

People who leak higher generation copies and keep the masters for themselves? |
Roger's Beard 08.12.2007 12:39 |
QTV is "Queen Television". Basically, any DVD with this onscreen has been recorded at the UK Queen conventions where the chalets have TV feeding a Queen only channel. Basically, anybody who dared to take a video recorder and find a way of tuning in the channel can record these. Brian live in South America doco also exists as a QTV recording. |

And NO, Rick, it has nothing to do with keeping the higher generation for themselves. The only higher generations are the copys that are in the QPL archives! Unless you get your hands on those masters there won't be any much higher generations. :-) |

Houston has had an occasional showing on the big screen in the hall, but as it's quite a recent find, I'm positive it's not been shown on the TV's in the chalets. That said, in the last couple of years, the staff at the holiday camps who show this stuff have been useless at actually showing what it says on the program of events for the weekend. They also run late in showing stuff, sometimes they forget to change the disc entirely (yep, Jackie provides them with low quality DVD copies now), the picture is blighted with interference from Channel 5 and they also mess about with the vision mixer during concerts, so if anyone is trying to record them, they don't get a "clean" picture anymore. It also appears to be common practice to stop a concert before it's even finished (I recall the first year I saw Caracas - they cut it off during WWRY) |

I've got some 2nd gen SVHS 'QTV Masters' on SVHS tape (now transferred to DVD). The quality varies considerably and some still have the time code burnt in. |
