I hate fish. |

I think this song rings true: link On a serious note, Brian's a passionate guy, and I commend him for trying to make a difference in the world. But merely writing about it on his website won't make much of a difference. He'll need to bring awareness to this some other way. ...Whale Aid? |

"...Whale Aid?" The Queen box set has been way laid due to Whale Aid. Works for me. |

This whaling buiness really pisses me off. The only write-up from this "reseach" you'll ever see is a whale meat cookbook. All they are investigating is how long will the whale population survive once they start commercial whaling again. I hope they choke on whale blubber, I really do! Aunty Helen isn't impressed either cos if their is an accident on their boats, we are the ones footing the bill to rescue them as we are closest, and she hates doing that cos she doesn't agree with their whaling at all. So yes, save the fish! |
PieterMC 21.11.2007 01:03 |
I think you are all missing the point. Brian cares about cod, not whales. |
Erin 21.11.2007 01:11 |
I don't even know what to say. Whale Aid..LMFAO!! |

A soup box boycott only punishes the fans. Please Brian - I want to know about the album. I don't even eat fish or prawn. |
mizz_smash 21.11.2007 03:26 |
This guy is defiently passionate about this, but to be honest, i dont read his blog to find out aabout whaling, i read it because i love his music. |
Mr Mercury 21.11.2007 04:58 |
I thought he was gonna talk about Fish, ex singer of Marillion - he who knocked back a prominent role in the musical. How wrong I was.... |
Bigbrotherbp 21.11.2007 05:40 |
Is Brian an animals lover? I've seen many articles on his website said about hedgehogs..(saving them, stop catching...), and now about whales? PS. Please stop killing whales you fucking idiot Japanese! What a pigmy. |
Fone Bone 21.11.2007 07:59 |
Save Me, said the whale, I can't keep myself alive ! One by one, only the good die young ! In another world, the japanese Fisherman replied. And then, who wants to live forever ? No one ! |

I believe the man's got a good point. The bio industry, fishing, the way animals are treatend is this society in general raises questions and the situation NEEDS to be changed. We treat animals in a wrong way just beacuse we are so used of doing that (for economic reasons mostly). I think it's his damn good right to write about this and give his opinion on his soapbox. The man has freedom of speech (like we all have) and if you are offended by his opinion you always have the choice not to read his soapbox. I don't agree on all things he says, but it's his right to say whatever he wants... I think it's great he has a weblog on wich he posts info on a regular basis. Roger doesn't have one.. Sometimes i like the topics, sometimes I don't. |
Benn 21.11.2007 09:11 |
Absolutely. I'd far rather see this kind of thing on his website than emdless musings on dust in space. Sadly, however, Brian only pontificates - there's no evidence *WHATSOEVER* that he is actually *DOING* anything to back his statements up. Were he to say "I have signed the following petitions and written to various influential people" etc, others may follow his lead. As it is, he's just seen to be banging on. Typical half-assed effort.... |
PieterMC 21.11.2007 09:24 |
It was really the last part of this post that stood out to me. Basically saying that he should not post anything else on his site until the message gets through to people. |

Whoah, Brian! I agree with those of you who say he should do more than just post on his blog. It is a rathar half-assed attempt. |
Arnaldo "Ogre-" Silveira 21.11.2007 10:19 |
Ok, Brian, note taken. Totally agreed. Should you really do something about it, I'll fully support... NOW, what about the album?! Cheers, Ogre- |

Yeah, that kinda surprised me. My first impression was that Brian was kind of acting like a spoiled child, like regular readers of his blog will have to suffer because of horrific acts going on in the world. "I'm going to hold my breath until I get my way!" Something like that. Then, I rethought about it less callously, and I realize that he just wants to try to make a difference in whatever way he can. Then I remembered that this is Brian we're talking about, and he can never stay silent for too long. Plus, if the press hangs onto his every word (for better or worse), chances are some newspaper will pick up the story rather soon. |
Benn 21.11.2007 11:27 |
Hi Lester...... >>Plus, if the press hangs onto his every word (for better or worse), chances are some newspaper will pick up the story rather soon. ......and mention his name in the same sentence as the term "poodle-permed". ';-0 Wouldn't he be better holding this all back and launching it at his new charges under the guise of his Chancellorship? Preaching to a student body about the merits of saving Whales (a cause, incidentally, that I hold very dear and contribute towards in various ways) would have FAR more impact than anything written on his Soapbox could. |
Micrówave 21.11.2007 11:43 |
I feel like just leaving this up on my Website ... and writing nothing else until I see some hope of the message getting through. Stop IT! Stop it NOW. Stop doing 'what people have always done' - if it leads to suffering, waste, injustice ... just .... STOP.What a frickin' idiot. Hey Brian: Promise? |
Dusta 21.11.2007 20:57 |
The whales collected by other nations, under the guise of, "research," all end up on the dinner plates of the wealthy in Japan. I suppose Japan is back to being more straightforward with regard to their long standing resentment toward the IWC.
This is just a bit more whale meat to go down the hatch of wealthiest population of Japan.
I do admire Brian for taking a stand, and, hope he is using his celebrity to great advantage...in other words, doing a bit more than making the statement on his site.

Bigbrotherbp, re: >> Somebody answer me please You can answer you own question by reading the soapbox. From what Brian has written, what do *YOU* think? You surely don't need to be told by other people that he is, given the content of what he writes, do you? |

I think it's great that Brian puts that sort of stuff on his site. Instead of mindless promotion for something all the time or the odd appearance somewhere. He uses for a good cause. |
