This is an interesting work of art. The music is very emotional and intense. I haven't seen the movie, but the music alone is great. What do you guys think of it?
I really wasn't a big fan of this. Maybe I saw too many Jesus and Charleton Heston movies as a kid, but it just didn't seem right at all.
I think Camelot is a much better musical. The Richard Harris 1967 one.
It's based on a play....which I've seen live. I like it, though it's not my favorite work by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
I'm not religious at all, but I do think Jesus existed as a historical figure, and I do like how he's portrayed in the play as a human with human doubts and human thoughts and a human temper.
The music is also good...driving rock with intertwined sweet melodies...very unique.
I saw Ted Neeley in the title role this summer. He was great. This was supposed to be his farewell tour, but he's hanging on for another tour.
That said, Ian Gillan's vocals on the original soundtrack were spectacular.

"Jesus Christ, superstar
walks like a woman and wears a bra"
It's our school production next year, but I won't be there to watch it :(
I saw the movie and the play. I also have the soundtrack. As a Christian and a classic rock lover, I think its the best thing since sliced bread. The songs are awesome and they really capture the emotion. I love it.
