Their latest album "Long Road Out Of Eden" debuted at #1, with Britney Spears' "Blackout" debuting at #2. The Eagles sold 711,000 copies in the first week, while Britney sold 290,000. This also marks the first Spears album that did NOT debut at #1.
Let me just say thank you to The Eagles for topping the charts. But why?
Not just because they kick ass ("Life In The Fast Lane" is one of my all time fave tracks), but I declared an ultimatum with my friends after Britney's album came out. I told them that if "Blackout" debuted at #1, I would never buy another music CD ever again!
Well, the stats are in...looks like I'm off to Amazon.com to find some old school music *searches for Rush's "Hemispheres"*
:p
Sorry to sound like a public service ad that won't go away, but Zeb is right.
Listen to the album. This is definitely NOT Life In The Fast Lane. I would be surprised if they wrote all the songs. It sounds more like 1990s Chicago, when they started bringing in outside writers to write Bubble-gum pop trash.
