In the Archives 67-75 Genesis Box Set, there is a reproduction of a 1970 concert poster billing Queen and Genesis supporting Kevin Ayers. Does anyone know anything about that ? I haven't found anything on queenconcerts and google. Thanks ! |

Roger Taylor was considered by Peter Gabriel and co to be the follow-up to their former drummer, before Phil Collins joined the group. |

Oh, and Genesis kicks ass :D |

Pim Derks wrote: Oh, and Genesis kicks ass :DIt certainly does. Hopefully Peter Gabriel will leave his musical industry shattering projects for a moment to do a Reunion Tour. When Collins said he would gladly play the drums and "let Peter" be the singer for Genesis' 2007 tour he surely meant it. He looked bored out of his mind during the whole tour ! And we as Queen fans appreciate the luck when all original members of a great band are alive and well. That said, do you confirm that an early line up of Queen shared a stage with Genesis ? |

Not that I'm doubting you, I'm doubting anybody in the music industry, including Peter Gabriel, would mistake Roger for a Prog Rock drummer. That's like Merle Haggard looking into Bill Bruford. |

Aaah! Queen and Genesis without a doubt my two favourite bands of all times!!Especially Gabriel era Genesis! That surely would be a dream show especially in 1970.Although I thought our boys weren't gigging quite yet, although I know that they were out there a few years before the first album. So I guess it's possible.By the by I love what Genesis is doing with the release of there whole catalog in surround sound with DVD's included with each release,of all kinds of goodies.I wonder why only ANATO has gotten the treatment .Hell in my opinion every album up to and including The Game should be getting the kind of treatment that Genesis is giving there back catalog!!! |

Well, Roger DID play drums for Genesis at their last show with Phil in 1993, during the Cowdray Ruins charity show that also had him and John (as "Queen"), Pink Floyd, and Eric Clapton. |

I will correct it ASAP. |

Thanks very much for the info unfortunately I don't have a scanner :( The poster itself is of little graphic interest anyway (black letter on yellow-ish background) |

Could someone possible upload the concert where Roger drummed for Genesis (1993) I don't know the setlist, all I remember is that they did songs like Turn it on Again and Invisible Touch. Too bad they didn't play Hogweed or Suppers Ready :( |
Pim Derks 31.10.2007 12:27 |
Probably too hard for Roger. |

As I said earlier, Roger is no prog rock drummer. I'm sure he could play Su-Su-Sudio in his sleep. I can. |
Boy Thomas Raker 31.10.2007 14:45 |
Turn it on again is in 13/8 time during the verses, most weird. I couldn't figure the time out for years. |
FriedChicken 31.10.2007 15:24 |
I'm sure it's not 13/8. It's more like alternating between 6/4's and 7/4's THats not the same as 13/8 The chorusses are 4/4 and the parts between the chorusses (chori?) are 3/4 and 4/4 |
Boy Thomas Raker 31.10.2007 15:46 |
Probably not Fried chicken I heard Phil Collins talking about it and saying it was in 13 something, but it's more than a straight 4/4, although hardly the toughest drumming in the Genesis catalogue. |
FriedChicken 31.10.2007 17:53 |
Then it would be more like 13/4 |

Too bad they didn't play Hogweed or Suppers Ready :(1 Turn It on Again 2 Hold on My Heart 3 I Can't Dance 4 Tonight, Tonight, Tonight 5 Invisible Touch Though the common bootlegs omit HOMH and TTT (since the whole CD was about 74 minutes long....which I imagine, there must be even more songs from the Pink Floyd set at the same concert than there is available...). This guy apparently has Genesis' whole set on bootleg CD (I think available for trade, but not sure...this turned up on Google): link And as for an upload, here is the Genesis + RT set link (128 quality MP3.....does anyone have better quality, or even FLAC copies of the Cowdray Ruins bootleg?) I'll upload the (almost) complete bootleg later. Also, you may want to note that the playback is a semitone higher than it should be, cos the transfer is sped up on the whole bootleg. |
FriedChicken 31.10.2007 23:04 |
Thanks Richard! |
inu-liger 31.10.2007 23:33 |
No problem :) Here is the rest of the bootleg (incl. the Genesis set for those who don't want to wait between RS downloads) link I noted that Martin (Queen Concerts.com) has the one song missing from the Queen set, 'TATDOOL', on his copy....I wonder if he would kindly be able to upload that...? >.> |
The Real Wizard 01.11.2007 01:50 |
Roger definitely isn't playing on the Genesis songs. |
