How can anyone expect to be taken seriously with conversations like this TM: THE BANKERS WILL ENSLAVE YOU WITH IMPLANTABLE CHIPS!! Random QZEr: I don't quite believe you. TM: Fuck off you stupid idiot sheep. YOU KNOW NOTHING! All joking aside, I did take the time to watch that Zeitgeist video. Intruguing stuff, especially in the Religion section, but in the end, it's mostly speculation, and many of the "facts" presented aren't backed up with any concrete evidence. Although, it does raise questions about where the world is going. I recommend it, it makes you think, y'know, and I know everyone here loooves to think...except before posting a topic, that's almost like violating internet code. |

The presence of chips isn't going to make certain people more or less ignorant than they are. Sure, there are people who will feel *safe* with these chips in them, because they're stupid enough to believe it. Simply put, there will always be stupid people. The more we raise the next generation of kids to think independently and critically, the better off we'll all be. Whether or not the system will raise the kids that way is another thing. While the system will try to keep them ignorant, there will still be those who are curious of the alternatives, and those who won't be. It's the process of natural selection. As long as the inquisitive ones are there, no form of totalitarianism will ever succeed. |

So I was trying to stay away from this thread for as long as I can, given the reputation of the person who started it for making sense (or not)....but I just watched the video. Wow...Sir GH has it right...propaganda at it's best. Nice semi-scientific beginning to hook the people in and make you think they know what they are talking about. Then there is a GREAT fear section, right out of Orwells' 1984 designed to scare the pants off of you and further suck you into the delusion that the people presenting the information can be trusted. Then they wrap it all up with a nice "I know exactly what the founding fathers would think and would do about this" which gives the image of being an authority on the subject and adding the additional layer of history to prove it all. Pfft. Too bad it was done very badly and anyone with a brain can see through it. First off, the National ID card legislation has been tabled, which basically means it's dead. Not enough support on either side of the aisle, and far too much distrust of it for it to pass. So that is out of the question. As for the implantable chip...I don't see this happening. In case you haven't noticed, distrust of the government within American society is at record levels, so if the government were to be stupid enough to insist on something like this (which they aren't since they all have to get re-elected) they wouldn't get anywhere with it. You think people are stupid sheep who will just do whatever they are told? You are right to a certain extent, I will not deny this. But you'd be surprised what people will do when they feel threatened. Actually, the people you should be worrying about getting sucked into things like this are people who lack the critical thinking skills to be able to analyze a presentation of any kind of it's merit. People who simply accept what is told to them as true, and never question why someone would produce something like this, what their goal is by producing something like this, and what axe they may have to grind that would skew judgments or arguments presented in the case. In short, basic critical thinking and analysis skills. People who hear an argument, agree with it without questioning, and run off to tell others. People, I mean this in the nicest possible way, like you. |
