Just when I thought Queenzone was coming around to a pro-lossless community, another mp3 loving idiot proves me wrong, and of course the first reply in this thread is a smart ass remark by some ignorant cunt to those of us who do care about quality. To Cygnus X-1: I would very grateful if you could reup the flac version of this show, the torrent seems to be dead. |

No more complaints, no more sorrow, no more Mp3: link |

A good deed never goes unpunished. Funny how the the complaints about mp3's are by those unfamiliar with using a spectral analyzer. As long as flac exists on Queenzone, mp3 should be allowed to exist as well, as both flac and mp3 are legal products. Queenzone has always strived to avoid censorship, and there is no reason that Queenzone should jump on the censorship bandwagon. |

To RoyThomasBaker: I already thanked you in the other thread, but thanks again. To Mike Van: Wow, you are one arrogant stupid fuck. "Funny how the complaints about mp3's are by those unfamiliar with using a spectral analyzer." Hmmm... I have done my own research, with my ears and with technology, and I have found that there is a difference between mp3 and flac, both via sound comparison and looking through a spectrum analysis. So why don't you do your fucking homework before you stick your foot in your mouth. And how would you know that I or anyone else have not done our research. Would it fucking blow your mind if those of us who have quality standards actually know what we are talking about? "A good deed never goes unpunished" Well, how is sharing a perfectly good lossless show in lossy mp3 a good deed? Are we supposed to thank anyone who takes a shit in the trading pool? You see, we give out thanks where they are due, but absolutely none is due here. "There is no reason that Queenzone should jump on the censorship bandwagon" Tell me, how in the hell is banning lossy-sharing considered censorship? Let's take a look at every other one-band-specialty music sharing board, presence, genesis-movement, yeeshkull, none of the members there have ever complained about censorship, partly because the members there are smarter than half of the users on Queenzone. And as a result of the quality control on these sites new recordings surface frequently, often a couple of times a month. In the past 3 months countless Genesis tapes have surfaced, many excellent audience tapes and/or soundboards. Now, for a band such as Queen, possibly in the top 5 as far as popularity goes, wouldn't you assume new shows would become available much more frequently than marginal (in attendance and albums sold) bands such as Genesis or Jethro Tull. Wouldn't everyone like to hear some new shows? I for one, am really pissed off about being a Queen collector and getting laughed at on those boards and by other traders. They are not laughing about Queen's music, they are laughing because of the ignorant fucks that are on this website. They laugh for legitimate reasons, Queenzone is still in the 20th century and must adapt to the times. It is a waste of the technology we have to still share music in mp3. Everyone else on this board can ignore the fucking proverbial elephant in the room and be content with their 128 kbps mp3s, or you can actually take a moment to here the difference and step outside of QZ and take a look at the prosperity in the other trading communities. The preceding was my two cents, feel free to flame me. |

Tell me, how in the hell is banning lossy-sharing considered censorship?I have seen many people on Queenzone offer thanks for mp3 downloads. If you do not want mp3's, I suppose it is your right to flame and degrade those that do download mp3's. I assume you believe book banning is a form of censorship? The banning of mp3's is also a form of censorship. If you know how to use a spectral analyzer, insist on dealing only with traders who vouch that their music is lossless and use spectral analyzers to verify the music is lossless, then your major problems with a polluted trading pool will vanish. Why not ask for a sample before you trade to protect yourself from lossy trades? The private sharing sites that you mention have every right to determine their content ... and thus they have a right to exclude mp3's. However, you and some other traders DEMAND that Queenzone BAN mp3's. How is this not censorship? I listen to music primarily in my car, and I do not care if Flac is slightly better. I do care about "quality" (it is the perception of the "customer"), and unlike many traders, I try to avoid unlistenable bootlegs with VG or worse sound. For example, I will not download this VG- Paris concert whether in flac or mp3. |

Stop this mp3 shit here at QZ!Sorry Cygnus X-1 There was a lot of MP3 sharing last in the last couple of weeks and everytime this discussion is coming up again. There are people in here who try to bring a little more quality standards to QZ - since a long time. (I joined QZ only last year..) They share masters or compilations - high quality releases- so there's no need to share the same shows over and over again in MP3. Please, Moderators - at least make the "Flac concert list" a sticky thread- so everbody can see what's out there!! |

To Mike Van: Wow, a quote of mine was good enough to be made into a signature, I don't know what to say. But I can assure you I am by no means an expert, and anyone will tell you I have no class nor do I have a shred of humility, after all I am the joeofcheese. Well, back to the argument at hand… you’re not going to convince me that mp3s are good and I can not convince you that flac should be the only way to share music. So let’s just agree to disagree. Don’t take what I say literally, as my old high school principal so eloquently put it I am an “antagonizer”, I say things just to provoke conflict. You seem to have taken it personally, but don’t waste your time on stupid shit that I say. I don’t know you, you don’t know me, we’re both Queen fans, obviously different ages, so why can’t we all get along? Well, I’m in a better mood than I was last night, so rather than try to go on another rant, I will calmly just ask you this, would you rather have mp3 or flac? I ask because I do not know what your preferences are. Listen, I just want to know is it so hard to ask people to download/upload lossless shows that they can then convert for themselves to mp3? Also I still don’t know what you mean by banning mp3s is a form of censorship. All you did was repeat your original statement, rather than back up your claim. If you knew me, you would know that I regularly take part in anti-censorship petitions and other things of the sort, so I am not a pro-censorship guy, trust me. Using your book burning analogy, I could say that mp3s are actually censorship. Rather than completely burning a book, you are partially singeing a book, tearing out pages, and returning to the library in a nice “good as new” package. Any librarian will tell you a book in terrible condition is more frustrating to read than not having the book in the first place. And personally if I were you using my quote in your signature, I would have gone with something that alluded to me as being a czar or a tyrant demanding that QZ obey my commands. I think that anyone not familiar with this thread would be perplexed when reading your signature, maybe you should include some context, or do the complete opposite and take it entirely out of context, just write “josedequeso wrote: To Mike Van, Wow you are one arrogant stupid fuck.” That’s what I would have done, but I am just a smart-ass American, so what the fuck do I know. Best regards, I'll see you in hell. joeofcheese (the loveable flac nazi) |

Oh my, is it so hard to understand? If a show, file or whatever is available in FLAC, please don't share it again in MP3. That's absolutely useless and it could lead to the sharing of lossy files disguised as lossless. This has happened here a couple of times and it's a big nuisance. But – and that's my personal opinion – if someone has a show in MP3 format only, and this show hasn't been shared before in a lossless format, so don't flame him for sharing it on Queenzone. Of course, the file format must be described correctly, so that nobody is cheated. Another case: If someone has a "new" or uncirculated show in lossless format, nobody can force him to share it for free, because it may be a valuable trading item. If he then offers a free download in MP3 format, we surely can beg him to share it in FLAC format, but the decision is up to him. It's still better to be content with what we can get than to start a nasty fight and piss him off. |

And there it goes... We read again some nasty words like fucking and so on... Seems like we listened "Death On Two Legs" too many times... Let's keep our head cool, now, subject's clear, problems have been raised, everybody said what he wanted to, so now let's have a rest... No more fighting, men... Let Queenzone be a quiet place, tha's better, or turn it into a constructive discussion, and everybody would enjoy it far better ! Peace, men. Olivier, France |
