For me it would have to be the riff that is at the end of 'The Boys Are Back In Town' by Thin Lizzy |
deleted user 29.09.2007 17:08 |
Hmmm... For me, it would be The Zoo by Scorpions or Sweet Child O Mine by Guns N Roses. |
Ms. Rebel 29.09.2007 17:24 |
Mmm... I think I would also chose G N'R Sweet Child O Mine & deff Sultans Of Swing by Dire Stratis. |

josedequeso 30.09.2007 01:04 |
"Sitting on the park bench!" Jethro Tull-Aqualung is the greatest guitar riff ever. |

Eminence Front. I don't even like the song, I just thought I'd throw it in the ring to see what happens. Haw-haw. |

^I was just talking with my friend few days ago about this. I said that Freddie wrote whole thing, but he said that Freddie wrote lyrics, notes for the piano, but that Brian wote notes for guitar solo. |

Agree with a lot of the posts made here, so I thought I'd throw in a few lesser known tracks that I find tremendously addictive. The Shooting Company of Captain Frans B. Cocq - Ayreon Welcome Home - Coheed & Cambria The Sun Never Sweats - Spinal Tap And, one slightly more well-known (and admittedly overplayed) riff: Carry On Wayward Son - Kansas |
Leaky Luke 30.09.2007 18:05 |
Metallica - One Queen - Tie Your Mother Down Led Zeppelin - Heartbreaker Jimi Hendrix - Star Spangled Banner The Beatles - While My Guitar Gently Weeps Eric Clapton - Layla Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb Just to name a few. |
deleted user 30.09.2007 18:20 |
Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd The March Of The Black Queen - Queen Love Her Madly - The Doors Those 3 are really awesome!! Cheers |
Mr.Jingles 30.09.2007 19:16 |
Are we talking about guitar riffs, or guitar solos? Some people have mentioned great guitar solos, which are not particularly the same as the few chords that make an iconic guitar riff. I'd have to pick Aqualung - Jethro Tull E-Pro - Beck You Really Got Me - The Kinks Brain Stew - Green Day Paradise City - Guns N' Roses Iron Man - Black Sabbath Again - Alice In Chains Master Of Puppets - Metallica Rage Against The Machine - Killing In The Name Are You Gonna Go My Way - Lenny Kravitz Whole Lotta Love - Led Zeppelin Aenima - Tool Hysteria - Muse Walk - Pantera Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana Vertigo - U2 Back In Black - AC/DC Seven Nation Army - White Stripes |

There are way too many good guitar riffs, and I agree with many riffs mentioned previously here, but I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Kashmir, by Led Zeppelin. |
Micrówave 01.10.2007 12:04 |
Yes, but the most difficult to pull off? Riff into the second half of the guitar solo to Kid Charlemagne. Never heard anyone but Larry who can do it. |

*Killer Queen* wrote: ^I was just talking with my friend few days ago about this. Penetration_Guru 01.10.2007 12:44 |
Highway To Hell Whole Lotta Rosie Walk This Way Ballroom Blitz Shakin All Over Brown Sugar La Grange Sharp Dressed Man but my personal favourite is Rebel Rebel because it's so catchy that it can sustain an entire song with virtually nothing else. |
Woodie 01.10.2007 13:44 |
my faves (in no special order): - Brown Sugar - Jumpin' Jack Flash - Satisfaction |
gem27 02.10.2007 10:01 |
I don't know which is the best but one that no one else has said that surely should be on such a list is David Bowie - Rebel Rebel. |

Theres so many out there. I'd have to say for all its simplicity, Zep's Whole Lotta Love. Page moved mountains w/ that riff! Tie Your Mother Down, Cream's Crossroads & Sunshine of Your Love are great as well. Lets not forget SRV, Pride & Joy!! |
AspiringPhilosophe 02.10.2007 12:26 |
I'm surprised that no one has mentioned this one yet: Randy Rhodes work on "Crazy Train" Pretty much the whole damn song...:-) |
Rick 02.10.2007 12:28 |
Difficult. At this moment, I like English Eyes by Toto very much. It's simple, but nice. link |
Griffin 02.10.2007 21:48 |
Brian's solo at the end of WWRY |
Nuno 05.10.2007 10:54 |
Decadence Dance - Extreme Scooby Snacks - Fun Lovin Criminals Master Of Puppets - Metallica Paradise Ciry (main riff during verses) - G N R Iron Man - Sabbath Smake On The Water (classic riff) - Deep Purple no One knows - Queens Of the Stone Age As for best Queen riff - tough one but I would say either Stone Cold Crazy or Was It All Worth It |
thomasquinn 32989 06.10.2007 07:34 |
Without a doubt, the 'Irish Riff' from "Going Home - Theme from 'Local Hero'" by Mark Knopfler. |
